I'm so pissed! She was answering some questions before she got started making gel plate backgrounds, and I asked how she stored hers. She answered me and then said that she had a whole class on gel plates on her website, and she didn't want to spend a lot of time answering questions. She wanted to create. Umm, OK. Then say that at the beginning, and don't start answering questions and getting all snippy when I ask mine. WTH?
I said that I was sorry to have bothered her with my question, and then I left. This isn't the first time that she's gotten snippy with someone who's asked a question either. I will think long and hard before buying any more of her products, no matter how much I like them.
Vent over. Thanks for reading.

Ugh, I'm sorry that happened. If she just wanted to create, maybe don't do a livestream and just create if she's going to be snippy, or like you said, say at the beginning that she wasn't going to answer questions. I'd be annoyed too and wouldn't watch another of her livestreams.

I assume Vicki Boutin. That's frustrating riversong1963. If she doesn't want to answer questions, or would prefer to direct you to her paid class to learn about her storage, that's fine, but she could have said that upfront, or just not gone live.

That would be frustrating riversong1963. I've only watched a couple of her livestreams - they're a little too long for me esp. with so much mixed media that I'm not familiar with. She seems like she'd be really nice about answering questions. But if she didn't want to take questions she definitely should have said so right up front.

Wow! Way to alienate your fan base. I agree with the others. If she didn’t want to take questions she should have made that clear up front. Or maybe had people save questions until the end. Sorry you had to deal with that.

I’m sorry you feel pissed, I would try to move on from it and attempt not to take it personally.
I’ve taken a lot of classes from her. She has a big personality style and a bit of snark too! She admits she’s not for everyone and I think that’s good she admits and says that about herself. If she’s not your cup of tea, that’s ok too.
I know she is a one woman show with how much she does and I just want to say to offer her some grace. Hugs!

I'm sorry for your frustration, but I would encourage you to re-watch and you might have a different perspective. Was your question about 23 minutes into the video? When I watched it, it sounded like she answered your question. She said she stores it between 2 sheets of paper and in a clamshell. She said just to be careful not to put it directly on plastic. I think when she mentioned the gel plate class, it was a comment directed at everyone, not just you specifically. I have taken other classes with her, I imagine her gel plate class has a lot of detailed information. I don't think she was trying to sell her class exactly, just encouraging anyone with in depth questions to maybe consider that as a resource. She encouraged people to ask questions but I think she didn't want to get too sidetracked, I think she wanted to focus on the creative part. All of that was after your question and other questions about the specific colors of the paint she was using, the type of paint, where the stencils were from etc. She also responded to what I think was your somewhat passive aggressive post about not bothering her and explained why she mentioned her class. She was actually very gracious and patient, she said she doesn't mind questions and said you were not bothering her. www.youtube.com/watch?v=cChhFqF4NmQ

I agree with the OP that she did all of a sudden get snippy. She happily answered the colors question then her tone changed when talking about how to store the gel plates and then got even a more different tone (irritated to me) about wanting to play. I am sorry you were upset OP. I felt the mood change too and you are right, if she wanted to play then just play. Don't start to answer questions and then get snippity and irritated.

Sometimes we all need friends who help us with perspective. Curiosity got me and I had to watch the video and I agree with aj2hall. I thought she was very gracious and gave you a concise answer to your question right away and even addressed your second response immediately. I imagine it's quite easy to go down a rabbit hole when you're trying to keep up the momentum of creating. I think she was trying to do exactly that.

Normally, I don't get involved in the drama here but this time I had to speak up. I have a dear friend who is a small business owner and works so hard with her business. This kind of negative chatter is incredibly damaging. Vicki gives really great free creative content and I would hate to see that go away.

People and Peas are allowed to have their views/opinions about creators. No one gets a free pass from another for speaking up and voicing how they feel. This is the Peas. We have been grading and talking about creators since the early 2000's, maybe even before then. No one is going after VB. No one is stating to boycott. A pea had an opinion and she came here to vent. Nothing wrong with that, especially since this thread has not turned nasty. I mean look at other 20+ page posts about other creators. Everyone posting how they feel and warning others. It's like Yelp for the Peas.

I don't see any drama here. I posted twice - once to vent and another to voice an objection about being called passive-aggressive. I'm not going on and on. It looks like Vicki's fans here are doing that, but even they aren't being dramatic. I have a small business too, and I have a YouTube channel. I receive negative feedback sometimes. That's the way business is. Not everyone is going to like you. That's not drama. That's life.
Peas voice their opinions about businesses all the time - usually without being called dramatic or passive-aggressive. I'm not sure why my opinions and feelings are being described that way, but everyone does have a right to feel the way they feel.
I will continue to express my opinions, and I don't think I've damaged VB's image in the least.

Many peas over the years (here and on the old two pea board), have *tried* to be the "self-appointed pea police" and dictate what can and cannot be said, discussed and talked about. We are all allowed to talk about and discuss whatever we want.....unless the *admin* say otherwise.

My intention when I posted was just to offer a different perspective. I was only posting my opinion after watching the video. I just saw the interaction differently.
I don't know VB well, the only collection from her that I have is Where's Next which appealed to me because of the travel theme. I'm not a fan girl or anything. My style is generally different from hers but I appreciate her creativity and talent. I'm grateful that she and other creators share their content for free on you tube. That said, I recognize that her style doesn't appeal to everyone. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and feelings. I recognize that negative opinions are a given for creators.
I did recently take her Where's Next and Spectrum Gardenia classes. In the classes, she is very gracious, patient, welcoming, friendly and she encourages questions.
I wasn't trying to police anything, dictate what could be said, tell the OP how she should feel etc. My knickers are not twisted.
