Is it proper to send a gift for this? I know it's my decision, I could if I want but am just wondering what the trend is. We will be able to attend virtually. The court sets this up.

Sure, if you feel lead to do so...just as if they had a baby, adopting a baby...just the same as far as gifts go.

TOTALLY! When my sister in law and her longtime partner finally decided to get married they were just going to do it quietly and we said "oh, HELL no" and threw them a reception! |

I would send something that all 3 have the same of. Maybe a bracelet or necklace charm or something like that so that their baby girl will have it as she gets older. They're now a family with a kid. Big love and congrats to them all!

I don't want to tell you how to live your life, but I might add this to the OP -- I agree with others that it seems odd to ask if you give a baby gift for an adopted rather than biological baby, but it doesn't seem like a weird question at all if it is whether the *adoption itself* is a separate gift-giving occasion! |

My sister and her dh have an adopted child and we had a big luncheon after the official adoption, so yes, people do things like that and I'd maybe find a suitable gift to celebrate this. How nice for them!

Ohhh, now I understand the question.
If you gave a baby gift when the baby came to the parents, and you are honoring the legal day, I might give a little something to the parents because "now it is official!" To bad you didn't ask earlier as my answer would be a celebration dinner/party because now it is legal and final.

I think the important thing is that you are being supportive of your cousin and his husband. Since you’ve already sent a baby gift, I don’t think it’s necessary to send a second gift to mark the adoption, but I’m sure they will appreciate it if you do. I think it’s wonderful that you can watch the adoption proceedings remotely.
