Ok, so we closed on the house on Friday. We have to do a complete reno and I'm not going to have the craft room of my dreams for a while.
We are going to get 3-4 of these cabinets (or something like them) for a mud room/laundry room/pantry sort of situation. One will house my craft supplies (or hopefully most of them).
Does anyone have a cabinet like this for supplies (and pretty much only this)?
I'm also looking for a way to hide my raskog cart somewhere so that I can put it away when I'm not crafting and wheel it out when I want to.
I'm wondering if there is a small cabinet it could fit in. I'm not sure exactly what the space will look like but we will have a blank slate.
Would love to see some suggestions! Thanks.

I had a handmade cabinet that was like that -- no rod, but had shelves. I stored so, so much in it. Re: the cart, I would roll it into a closet or a utility closet (those tend to be taller) when not in use.

In our previous house we had similar cabinets in the family room for the kids craft supplies, games, etc... I had sterilite 3 drawer plastic unit I used in there for their paper etc...I've since repurposed those into my craft room (they do hold 12x12).
I think they would work for you depending the quantity of your supplies - definitely taker advantage of all the space on the shelves with stacking boxes, drawer units etc...
I would also suggest a closet for the raskog or maybe making a slipcover to pop over it when not in use?

CONGRATS! at last! You might want to check out Victoria Marie's craftroom tour for ideas about the wardrobes. I think she has some of her supplies in something similar, although it's definitely not all of her stuff. I think it could work well with most things stored vertically in magazine holders and binders and stacking containers.
If you get a few wardrobe units and a couple of extra shelves you could leave a gap between two wardrobes to roll your cart into with a few shelves in the gap higher up to hold other stuff that you might want out in the open. Then you could leave the cart visible or add a small tension rod to hold a curtain to hide it under one of the shelves, or maybe add some kind of door. Making it not be inside an actual cabinet means you don't have to lift it up to get it in and out - it would roll on the floor. Does that make sense?

I need to go to IKEA and see them in person to see how deep they are, after, obviously, measuring the space and mapping out a layout. I would also suggest a closet for the raskog or maybe making a slipcover to pop over it when not in use? Good idea! You might want to check out Victoria Marie's craftroom tour for ideas about the wardrobes. I think she has some of her supplies in something similar, although it's definitely not all of her stuff. I think it could work well with most things stored vertically in magazine holders and binders and stacking containers. Perfect. Will do that today. This is also a good idea. I'm wondering if I could build a countertop to have some counter space but leave it open underneath so that I can roll the cart in and out. We can really do anything we want. My biggest concern with the wardrobes is that even though they're deep. I'm not seeing many shelves inside. I'll have to investigate to see if you can buy shelves for the insides of them. Bookcases with doors aren't typically deep enough. And we'll have the depth for the wardrobes as the space is currently a kitchen with cabinets so I know that part. Thank you! It sure took long enough. Issue after issue with the appraisal and the underwriter and this and that. Then this weekend we were freaking out at how horrible the house is and how much work it needs and were thinking we'd just rent the damn thing. But yesterday we had a friend who is an architect talk us down. It will be a lot of really hard work but in the end it will be worth it. I just have to be patient. After I know what wardrobes we are going to buy, I'm going to start buying the plastic boxes to go inside. That way I can organize my stuff now as we're doing the reno. I'd like to not have a major reorganization after moving in. I'll have time to do that now as I'm not doing the bulk of the construction myself. I can clean and paint and pull nails but not hang drywall or do wiring. Plus I have a full-time job so there will be days where I'm just exhausted.

There is an Ikea craft room group on FB. They might be able to give suggestions on boxes that fit.

Congrats on closing! How exciting for you! That cabinet looks like a very nice option. Even if the rod isn't removable, you can get some curtain rings with clips and hang stickers or something like that from it. My biggest concern with the wardrobes is that even though they're deep. I'm not seeing many shelves inside. Concerning extra shelves, if you click under product details, the website says: Additional KLEPPSTAD shelves can be purchased to customize your storage solution to your personal needs. So I think you may be good in that regard. I would consider replacing any plastic shelf holders with metal ones from Lowes or Home Depot. All of the pretty paper supplies get heavy, so I would just make sure you get the strongest hardware available. And definitely mount the cabinet to the wall.

There are several different kinds of wardrobes. I'm going to print out one page of each that has the dimensions and cost and then search for what's available. I also plan to look for similar cabinets at Lowes since that's what we have close. But I think IKEA is always cheaper. Great tip on the metal shelf holders! I will definitely do that. Based on the amount of supplies I have now, I do think one cabinet will be enough.

Only one cabinet? Sounds like we Peas need to enable you more! 😉 You know the cabinets are HUGE! 90" tall and 39" wide. That's a lot of paper. I'm plenty enabled. I don't know if I'll have room for all my albums but I'm really hoping. The PAX is deep. Here's how I had to manage the stupid IKEA site: click through to all hinged wardrobes. scroll through all and make a list of the different ones. eliminate the ones that don't have the options I want. Narrow to Kleppstad and Pax. Eliminate Kleppstad. Then I searched for Pax and 497 items came up. I had to scroll through them all to figure out what was available. I need to measure the space (haven't done that yet). Then I'll use the planner to come up with the configurations we'll need. I think we're going to have 3 cabinets. This room is like a laundry room/mud room. We'll have one as a wardrobe for winter clothes and seasonal items as there is no other closet on the main floor. We'll have one as like a pantry for items we buy in bulk or whatever doesn't fit in the kitchen cabinets (cat food). And then one for me. Has anyone had any success putting a litter box in a cabinet? Like with a cat door they go through to a larger area. I need to do some research on that. I'm tired up sweeping up litter all the time.

I would personally be very hesitant to do that in a non-plastic cabinet - especially after cleaning up pee-puddles behind/under the litter box twice this week (apparently some-cat's aim was off). We have a robot vac that is doing a decent job of keeping up with the tracked litter tbh - I do run Rosie daily. Good luck.

So far the cat's business stays in the lidded litter boxes but who knows how future third cat will toilet. That's good to consider. And we don't have a robot vac. Maybe with the more open floor plan we'll have we can get one. They let me into the IKEA craft rooms facebook group and it's like heaven there. People are asking the most detailed questions -- I'm all about it.

Has anyone had any success putting a litter box in a cabinet? Like with a cat door they go through to a larger area. My sister has done this. She had an old low dresser, cut a hole in the side and put the litter inside. She recently had a full laundry renovation done with custom cabinetry and had one cupboard designated for the litter box with a hole cut in the door. It's certainly a much neater solution than my cat's open to a room litter tray.
