I’ve just finished a LO that I actually thought I’d finished last night. 😄 It was still sitting on my desk and I felt there was too much white space so I got out a tiny flowers stamp and tamped it about a few times. Then I drew in some zigzag stitches, added some tiny gems and sequins, and it looked better. But then I thought of something else that might work and added that too. Now I’m scared to go anywhere near it in case I spoil it!
How do you know when enough is enough?

When I feel satisfied. Sometimes I leave a lot of white space, or do minimal embellishments. Other times I go over board. I just let me creative flow go and stop when my head and hands tell me to lol

I'm painstakingly S-L-O-W, must be satisfied with each step in the process, will rework/restart as much as necessary before proceeding, & don't adhere anything until I've found the delicate balance of words, photos, &/or memorabilia/embellishments to convey the desired story. While it takes a ridiculous amount of time to complete a layout, I'm always content with the end results & never redo a completed page.

When I am visually happy with how the layout looks, then it's done.
There are times, when I am not loving it, so I let it sit a day or two or a week, then come back to it. Sometimes I re-do a part of it, sometimes I re-do all of it.

I always leave my layout out where I can see it...and I always make changes. Once I'm satisfied, it goes in an album.

How do you know when enough is enough? Ha ha... usually when I realize it is TOO MUCH! I have often tweaked a LO after its original completion. Usually within a day, like what you did after leaving it overnight. Sometimes when I am almost ready to put it into an album. Sometimes when I have taken a photo of it to post here and when I look at it on the computer screen something looks off kilter or our of balance. If you wonder if something will push your LO over the top, maybe just lay the additional items onto the page without gluing them down and leave it for awhile. When you come back, you may decide the extras need to be affixed, or that they need to be discarded. Either is okay. Sometimes I re-do a part of it, sometimes I re-do all of it. I do that... and sometimes I redo NONE of it LOL.
BTW lesley, do you feel comfortable sharing your page?

There are times, when I am not loving it, so I let it sit a day or two or a week, then come back to it. Sometimes I re-do a part of it, sometimes I re-do all of it. Yep, me too. I have 6 layouts laying on my coffee table and every time I walk past it I look at them. One of the layouts is just not doing it for me. I'm battling whether to live with it or try to redo it. I definitely take a look at my layouts the day after and add or change things. I'm probably happy with about 90% of my layouts, but that 10% is a real struggle. Sometimes when I have taken a photo of it to post here and when I look at it on the computer screen something looks off kilter or our of balance. Oh my gosh, when I take a photo of it I see all kinds of things I missed. Sometimes I don't notice it until I post in the sharing thread and then it drives me crazy and I have to go back and rework something. So sometimes you aren't seeing my finished product.

I leave mine for a few hours or overnight. When I come back to it I’ll make some adjustments if needed. When I stop thinking that it still needs something it’s finished.

It usually just feels right when it's done. I've certainly had pages that I thought were finished, but I've come back the next day and added a little something extra.

It's just a feeling I get. My style varies widely, so sometimes it's a lot or a little.

I usually splatter mist on my layouts as a final step. Once that is done, I consider the layout finished. Every once in awhile I'll go back and add something to a layout after I've added mist, but I usually don't.

I just let me creative flow go and stop when my head and hands tell me to lol This also describes my process. And nothing says you can’t go back and add things later. When I first started I used next to no patterned paper or embellishments. I’ve since (years and years later) gone back and added patterned paper to a few layouts, and recently I was thinking I’d like to add some embellishments.

Like others, I have the most unhelpful answer. It just feels done. I tend to scrap a page and then leave it on my desk until I come do the next page. Very rarely will I add anything to a layout when I come back. Usually that happens when I leave a page without that “done feeling”. It’s probably not the most helpful answer, but it’s all I got right now!

I was really cardstock heavy when I first started so I went back to those first layouts and added patterned paper, enamel dots, a few stickers, etc. I'm much happier with those layouts now.

Like others, once I feel satisfied with the layout.
I don’t glue anything down until I am satisfied, and I don’t move on till it’s complete, but I usually know when it’s done and ready for me to glue everything down.

Definitely an emotional scrapbooker, so when I hit that happiness spot, I know I’m done.

Oh lesley, I never know. Like most of our above friends, I'll sometimes think I'm done and then I'll come back to it and add something else or re-work something. And sometimes I just have to give up and call it finished.

I primarily scraplift and follow sketches so when my layout looks similar to whatever I'm getting inspiration from (which is sometimes multiple layouts) I'm done. Occasionally I do go back and add something, but not that often.
