Altered CD query

I'm making an altered CD ornament that will have heavy scrapbook papers, photograph (lustre/matte finish) and embellishments.  Do I need to seal it?  And if so with what?  I tried brushing PPA on a sample photo and didn't like the brush strokes.

Also for the edge of the cd any suggestions?

Any other tips are warmly received!

I'm making my son his annual ornament this year.  His band did a professional CD recording and I thought the cover art photo would make a nice ornament.
