If you use mixed media on your layouts and cards, which is your favorite to work with?
I'm not into really messy stuff. It is too much like my job. I deal with messy all day- coming home to more messy is not appealing to me.
I do love stencils though. I'm always really pleased with my layouts when I use them. And I have a stencil problem. I can't order from any store without throwing a new stencil in. I would have every one of Crafter's Companion stencils if I could. The only thing keeping me in check in the price. I usually use regular rubber stamp ink but I bought a couple of stencil butters and I'm eager to try them.
I also am still addicted to spatter, too. I know that was trendy quite awhile ago but I still love it.
I've been known to paint a wood piece. I also still will use Stickles. Sometimes something just needs a little glitter.
I do not use anything that requires a great deal of water, though. I can't stand warped pages. I use 49 & Market paper that already looks liked mixed media if I want that look.
Do you do mixed media? What is your favorite kind? What do you avoid.

Splatters with ink sprays. I shake up, unscrew, pull out the spray top and flick the tube to splatter.
I tried paste and butters but they aren't my thing.
I might try heat embossing again (is that mixed media?) for stamped messages.
And yes love stickles!!
Not sure if alcohol markers are mixed media but love love love them.

My favourite ink technique is smooshing it onto plastic or glass, spritzing it with water, then picking it up on VB foundations cs or watercolour cs. I also love the effect of the same technique with Vicki Boutin art crayons. They tend to be brighter than the oxides.
I like Nuvo drops and the new SB.com color pops. I sometimes make dots, but also use them with stencils, and use the little bottles to hand write titles and shapes like hearts. I also love what happened when I just spread the different colours with a palette knife onto black cs.
TCW Stencil Butter spreads like--well--butter, so I love to use it with stencils. I have also used Simon Hurley's Luna paste.
Sometimes I use paint, especially white paint on winter LO's or Christmas cards. I then sprinkle white glitter into it when wet to get that snowy look.
I have also painted naked chipboard with paint or with Nuvo or other drops.

I'm not much for mixed media although I've dabbled over the years. I'm not keen on the texture of acrylic paint so I prefer to use inks or watercolors, mostly blended or smooshed. I've done a little collage but can't cope with managing all the random little bits of paper. I'm not much for mess! I need to come up with a collapsible splat box type of arrangement because I like splattering but not the mess, and I don't really have a spot to keep a box handy. I've played with Brusho watercolor powders and heat embossed resist but not for a while - love the colors but again, need to contain the mess.

I like mixed media for my journal. Ink, stencils, mixed media crayons. Messy, raw, feelings, not perfect.

I love embossing, ink splatters, stencils and love using my silk screens from Ali Edwards and Studio Calico. I wish Ali and SC would release more of them.

I exclusively scrapbook & incorporate minimal mixed media (e.g. basic stamping, stenciling, heat embossing, inking edges). Like you, my current favorite is using stencils with VersaFine Clair inks, Vicki Boutin CreativeFX glaze in either silver or iridescent (sometimes tinted with Vicki Boutin Art Crayons), or VersaMark embossing ink + heat embossing (Ranger Super Fine EP).

Definitely a stencil girl — love sprays inks and glazes.
My favorite mixed media is definitely a glitter glaze

So far I only have a few stencils (maybe 10?) but I love them. They look so creative sitting there in all their stencil-y glory and art-y possibilities. But I've been super timid about using them. I used one on a l/o with some gold color Stencil Butter and it turned out great but I guess I'm just not very visionary. And I know it's only paper but that first moment that you start with adding inks, butters, or other mediums is still pretty scary to me. That is one of my goals this year: use this stuff - no matter what! And artbabe, I absolutely agree with you: Wouldn't it be wonderful to have ALL of the stencils?!

I get too frustrated with warped paper, so I use mixed media sparingly. I'll do splatters, re-ink Thickers to the color I want, and lately I've used my Stickles a lot.

I incorporate mixed media into most of my layouts. I like all mixed media products, and although my favorite is watercolor, I do find it sometimes challenging to get the look I'm going for.

Splatters are my jam. I will use sprays, distress ink diluted with water or watercolours for my splatters, but my favourite medium for splatters or big fat round drips on my pages is Liquitex Acrylic ink. It comes with a dropper and I can get big fat drops, or I can use it with a brush to get small splatters. It is also great because there is quite a bit of body to it, even though it is liquid, so it creates drippy effects really easily.

I am envious of those of you who are at ease with mixed media. I have tried, tried, tried many times, but everything I do turns to mud. I love watching mixed media artists, and I would really like to get more adventurous with paint and watercolor, but I'm not sure where to start. I know that I'm drawn to papers from 49 & Market mainly because they have a layered, mixed media look...but I feel I should be able to do that myself!
Maybe I should just work with one medium and one color to start.

I'm not into mixed media very much. The most I do is splatter some watered down gold paint or watercolors. I've had a bottle of tattered angels for a long time that I use to add some basic shimmer to things every so often. That's about it. I'm definitely not into creating entire backgrounds for layouts. Too messy and the dry time is too long to wait.
