Thanks to mayceesgranny I bought a few items from the Echo Park stamp & die sale. Really good deals that I would've missed if I hadn't belonged to this board. Grateful. My question is about the mini alpha dies that come all connected. Do you all snip them apart or just cut out the entire alphabet at once? I've never had an alpha set like this (I bought 2) and I really like the looks of them. Just wondered how you all handle them?
Thanks for your help.

I didn't buy any alphabet dies from that sale, but maybe I should have, lol.
I think it depends on how you use your letter dies. If you like placing the letters/dies to spell out before cutting, then cut apart. But I would consider keeping them as is since the dies are pretty small. If you remember the Quickutz 4x8 dies, all the letters were on one die. I would just cut out the whole alpha if I was in a hurry or I would place paper over the letters I wanted if I was trying to conserve paper (because maybe it was the last of a color or something like that). You can always cut apart later.

I waffle back and forth. I have some sets where I've taken apart individual letters to cut leaving some attached together and I've left some all attached together and cut all the letters at once. I honestly cannot tell you why I did either. I'm guessing it was either my mood at the time or if I was cutting specialty paper that I wanted to save paper.

If they are kind of small I keep them together because not likely I ever need to do individual letters, but together on one piece of paper, if that makes sense. But I do not necessarily cut out all the letters if I need only a few. I just pace paper on the sections of letters I need.

Some of my smaller alpha sets are kept together. Saves me time in the long run. I store the bigger ones on magnetic sheets.

Thank you scrapperal, pinklady, FurryP, and artisticscrapper. Yes, the individual letters are quite small and I was thinking that they would be easily misplaced if I cut them apart. So smart of you all to think of placing scraps of paper over just the letters that you need. You're the best.

It's a personal preference. I choose not to purchase connected/tabbed dies (since I view them as incomplete/not ready for use, do not want to keep them connected, & have zero interest in hand snipping/filing 26+ small dies)!

I was thinking of the 4x8 QK dies too ! I keep them together because I fear losing one. If they’re all connected, one won’t be lost.

I keep all my small alphas together, and place paper over the letters I need. If I have plenty of paper and don’t care about wastage , I use one sheet of paper, and save the extra letter for kindy, and donate them

Thanks for responding PaperAngel, basket1lady, jameynz. Keeping them together wins! I cut out one panel of alphas (together) and was thinking that the panel would make a neat layering piece. I never had a Quickutz so this is my first experience with dies like this. Thanks for everyone's insights.

Inquiring minds want to know, which alphabets did you buy? And do I need them? lol!

Hope you enjoy your new dies (& stamps)! ... I never had a Quickutz so this is my first experience with dies like this. ... Note Quickutz dies were not connected. The QK 4x8 dies mentioned upthread refers to alpha sets on a 4x8 plate/die with foam (as pictured HERE; not my listing/Google search image); the letters/characters are not connected & cannot be separated.

scrapperal, I bought the uppercase Abigail and the lowercase Emma. I wish I'd bought more.

Thank you PaperAngel. I'm still old school with die-cutting. No electronic die cutter, just my old clunky Big Kick.

P.S. The Big Kick which keeps plugging along. Well made.

hoopsfn Nice! I especially like Emma. Even at those great prices, I could not justify buying more fonts since I don't even use all that I have now. But maybe at the next sale...

I also use a Sizzix Big Kick (& a Sizxix Sidekick) for die-cutting; it’s a workhorse (for well over a decade)! I always debate whether to add a Silhouette Cameo 4 but am uncertain I’d use it enough - primarily for backgrounds - to justify the storage space, etc.

I separated a bunch of tiny Papertrey Ink dies years ago and I regret it. I lost one letter from one of the die sets, and a "dot" from another because the pieces are small and I didn't carefully keep track of each die as I should have. If I buy alpha dies now, I keep them together.

That's what I figured would happen to me if I snipped them apart craftymom101. I could lose an elephant in a broom closet.
