I've noticed this phrase on several collections, both old and new.
One, how often does someone use fruit paper/embellishments on their layouts?
And two, how often does one really need to put "Squeeze the Day" on their layouts? It is awfully specific, isn't it? It makes no sense unless you are using citrus fruit. What else do you squeeze? Babies? Charmin?
There are some words and phrases that need to just stop. Best Day Ever. Bloom and Grow. But Squeeze the Day is particularly, dare I say, stupid.
I know that we've touched on this topic before but is there anything new that just irks you? A certain embellishment? A word? A phrase?

For me the phrase "squeeze the day" is not something I would use. Even if I were at a lemonade stand or standing next to a lemon tree...., that is not a phrase or title that I would use.
There are many words and sayings that are overdone. Way too many to list.
The one thing that irks me, is words and sayings that are geared to two or more people or families. In addition to "us, we, our, group, etc...", I wish there were more "I, me, my, party of one, etc...".

I do make fruit layouts (we have a cherry and a fig tree, previously had apple and a plum tree, and currently grow strawberries and raspberries) but even when I was trying to grow a lemon tree (things I did during lockdown and Covid...) that phrase 'squeeze the day' didn't even enter my head.
I don't like fri-yay...
Or silly puns (Photoplay is big on these) such as 'I'm kind of a big 'dill' with a pickle icon.
Not exactly only in scrapbooking but I'm a book nerd, and if I see one more "I like big books and I cannot lie" on a bookmark, t-shirt... I hated that Sir Mix-a-lot song in 1992 when I was in high school, and still hate it. Plus, every time I see the phrase, the song gets stuck in my head...
Not too fond of "not all who wander are lost," or "sleeping under the stars."
And I have said it a million times, but if someone comes out with a birthday line with 'happy birthday to ME' on it, I'd buy it two or three times. I'm tired of not being able to make layouts about my own birthday with cute stuff because the phrases don't work...

Not a fan of you’re my all time favorite or something along those lines. Maybe I could use it for dh, but I have 3 boys. Am I supposed to choose a favorite? I know I could use it for favorite things, but I don’t make a lot of layouts like that.

I could see using it for a layout of ds at out museum that has a cool citrus grove hands on exhibit. But other than that...would not use the phrase and would never think of it on my own.

If anyone DOES scrap their harvest or a visit to the farmers' market this month, I hope you check out the August DONNA challenge. I don't often include lemons or oranges on my pages. But in the summer there are often berry picking pages. Last year I was delighted to get some classic watermelon eating photos for a fun page. I have a couple of photos yet to scrap of justjac and me at a lemonade stand. Squeeze the day makes a fun phrase for a birthday card. Especially one with lemons on it.

I tend to use the puns more on cards. It makes the sentiments a little more fun and interesting. And they’re a great jumping off point for pulling other product (fruit dies, washi, etc.). “Squeeze the Day” would be a great birthday card, stamping a birthday greeting under it or inside.
For scrapping, I really prefer more basic titles that I can add to with specific details. Like the word “vacation” and under that I can say where we were. The cutesy trendy phrases make it harder to do this.

So funny cuz I have a hard time finding text with plural pronouns but have a ton with singular pronouns.

I've always interpreted "Squeeze the Day" as a cutesy or punny spin on "Seize the Day" so while I've never used it, I would use it on a "Carpe Diem"/adventure-type page.
Lemon/citrus kits drive me crazy in general. They're so specific.

I am getting tired of "this is awesome", "you're my favorite", "this rocks", "love this", and " best day ever". Yesss I've bought so many sticker books where two or three pages are just full of sentiments like this that I'll never use. Sometimes I'm just scrapping like.. pretty pictures of trees. Or maybe it was a fine day but it wasn't the best. Or I recently scrapped a bunch of pictures I snapped during long walks I took while taking care of my mom while she died from cancer and I wound up just not even putting titles on the pages. Not everything is amazing, the best, perfect, unforgettable.

I am actually a fan of fruit/veggie papers due to gardening, farmers markets, being a foodie, cook, baker, I sometimes will document a recipe or a good meal.
I don't need any of the canned phrases supplied, I almost never use those. I generally like to use puns, song lyrics, or quotes from what was said.
I recently did a layout with limes on it not too long ago about making some classic margaritas on cinco de mayo.
I did a layout about my fig tree with an awesome fig pattern paper, strawberry picking as part of a CSA with strawberry carton paper.
So yes, I like fruits! The phrases I can do without. I guess in that sense, I would rather have more options for coordinating alphas or words.I like when there are words you can put together if you choose.

Well, I'm a card maker, not a scrapbooker. I got a citrus-themed set with a "Squeeze the Day" sentiment stamp at Concord & 9th Summer Camp. I used it as the inside sentiment in my summer happy mail exchange cards with hand written note about "hoping you can squeeze every drop of fun out of summer" or something like that. I thought it worked.
I can see that it might be more problematic to use in a scrapbook layout, though.

I never thought about using it for cards. Huh. I can see how it would be a lot easier to use on cards.
I totally understand the desire for more "I"s, though. I am single- not a "we".

I have several stamps I can’t use anymore now that DH is gone because they have “our” in them.

I just did a search of my digital kits, and sure enough, I have a few elements with "Squeeze the Day" on them. I like it, I think it's cute. I would use it on a page, but probably only once or twice. I can definitely see myself using it on cards, if I were a cardmaker.

citrus - I like and have used on layouts but we have orange and lemon trees on our old property. Plus they're fun additions to summery layouts with yellows/orange/green colour scheme just as random bits of a cluster or layering paper.
The sentiment "Squeeze the Day"? not so much

Cute cards Shakti. Use of ‘squeeze the day’ makes sense. Another vote for more 1 person pronouns like I, me, my etc. Not fond of ‘right now’ ‘love this life’ and ‘remember this’. A while back I had a sticker that said ‘forever’. I finally used it in a layout I did with pictures of Alcatraz.

I am still working on my Colorado wedding album, and I am still very tired of "the mountains are calling, and I must go." Maybe I just don't want to go right now. Maybe mountains shouldn't be talking at all. 😉

IMHO the industry has become formulaic/repetitive/"copycats," resulting in most manufacturers repeating the same tired sentiments (+ icons & colors) for the same themes on a loop. I'm not a theme scrapper, so I don't buy/use fruit-themed supplies. My current dislike is the overabundance of florals; they're everywhere - entire collections devoted to florals, multiple floral patterns & a floral-specific ephemera pack per collection regardless its theme or brand, flower-adorned icons (e.g. stand mixers, ghosts), & more...UGH!

artbabe. My mind went immediately to Mr.Whipple squeezing the Charmin. And to the song with "Mama's got a squeeze-box she plays on her chest." It does make you wonder why certain phrases seem to pop up everywhere.

And to the song with "Mama's got a squeeze-box she plays on her chest." I don't know why I didn't think of that. I love that song. I love finding alternative uses for tired sayings.

I find the use of "wild and free" in zoo-themed collections tone deaf and odd (and I've worked at a couple of zoos).

I thought of this thread when I saw Hip Kit Club's August kit today. No squeeze the day, but it does have main squeeze. I might be able to use that on a page and it would be cute on a card. www.hipkitclub.net/august-2023-main-kit

I recently did a layout with limes on it not too long ago about making some classic margaritas on cinco de mayo. See, this is a fantastic use of fruit. Time to get out the lime paper. I am still very tired of "the mountains are calling, and I must go. The ocean also talks sometimes. In that category I would also put "Love you to the moon and back". I actually like that phrase- I have it hanging up in my nephews' room in my house. I've used it on a layout. But how many times does someone really need that? Ugh. The guitars all have flowers on them, too. I know they are trying to be cute and "original" but if everyone does it, it just becomes tired. Give me a plain old mixer or guitar. I'll put flowers on it if I want flowers. It isn't like I can't find a flower embellishment. I find the use of "wild and free" in zoo-themed collections tone deaf and odd (and I've worked at a couple of zoos). I've complained about this before. Tone deaf is a good way to describe it.

Reading through this thread and agreeing with every post!
But something just now occurred to me…those of us that hang out on a scrapbooking message board are obviously really into scrapbooking, and have a little different way of approaching titles and projects than say, a “casual” or beginner scrapbooker, you know? I wonder if those phrases and titles that annoy us ( and OH, how some of them irritate me!😂) are included for them, with the thought that those of us with more experience and/or imagination in this craft will come up with our own ideas and such.
Not to poop on casual or beginner scrapbookers at all, but I figure these phrases that annoy us are included as “training wheels” or something until their own unique creativity kicks in.

Not my thing, but I do have some Homegrown papers that I liked.
We returned from a cruise and I do have a few pictures of people before eating. That could maybe work.

IMHO the industry has become formulaic/repetitive/"copycats," As a cardmaker, rather than a scrapbooker, sometimes things over here in "general" don't apply or apply very differently, but this is something I've been pondering lately. I love kits, but not sight-unseen kits. I like kits I can buy without subscribing or subscriptions where I get at least a peek if not the whole unboxing while I still have time to skip. I am amazed how often the themes of the various kits align, if not all at exactly the same time, then within a month or so. Sometimes this is absolutely amazing -- generally the My Monthly Hero and Hero Arts @joann Make Yourself at Home card kits are completely different, but February of this year both were butterflies and I got both and they worked together very well. Other times, it just isn't. SU's Paper Pumpkin did an outdoorsy camping thing in June or July and then Club Scrap did one in August. Those kinds of masculine-friendly themes are lacking in many collections, so I didn't skip the PP. CS's material quality is definitely better than the PP, but by the time that one came around, I didn't need more camping/hiking/guy stuff cards anymore. And it's true that I have two fruit themed stamp/die sets -- citrus and strawberries/cherries. I am very happy to have both, though I wouldn't have sought them out. Both were parts of the kit for big virtual events. But as this thread was predicated on -- how many citrus-themed sets use the "squeeze the day" sentiment? And EVERY berry-themed set I see (and there are more of them than the citrus I think) uses some variation of "berry sweet". Total copy cats or group think or something.... EtA: It looks like the August MMH is going to be another mountain/outdoorsy theme. It will probably coordinate with the Paper Pumpkin better than Club Scrap would. I passed on CS and Joann/HA for August, so I'm "allowed" another kit. We'll see if this is another synergy that works for me.
