Google says this: “Ingredients derived from a bioengineered source” means the product contains an ingredient from a bioengineered crop, but the ingredient does not have detectable bioengineered material. Examples include processed oils and sugar.
I guess there are some disclosure regulations in some states and this covers them.

I would assume that is referring to the soybeans being bioengineered.

Bioengineering is the new GMO term.
The item is genetically altered. So it's DNA is changed (or is it the rDNA?)
Anyways, not good for you.
I have seen that working for the last 3 or 4 years.
Chips, cereal, drinks, pasta, dressings, mayo, and lots of processed items.

Are you eating the whole jar at one sitting? 😄 I am very much an everything in moderation person.

dewryce, I get about 2 weeks out of it. I use it for sandwiches and making dressings and dips. It makes a pint mason jar amount.

I would be more than willing to make a batch every 2 weeks, would you mind sharing the recipe? I’ve had vegan Mayo before and it was okay, but BFF always made it fresh for whatever she needed and we weren’t willing to put in that kind of effort! But two times a month we can do.

Here ya go! dewryce Ingredients 1 cup extra light olive oil 1 large egg room temperature 1/2 tsp ground mustard 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon lemon juice room temperature Instructions Add all the ingredients to a wide-mouth mason jar. The jar needs to be wide enough to fit the immersion blender. Place the immersion blender over the top of the egg and turn the blender to low speed. Leave the immersion blender here and don’t move it until the mixture begins to turn white. Increase the speed of the immersion blender and begin slowly lifting the blender up. Blend, taking the immersion blender up, down, and to the side until all the oil is completely emulsified. This process can take up to 1 minute. When creamy and the oil is completely emulsified, remove the blender. Serve immediately or store in an air-tight jar and store for up to 7 days. Note: If you are using a blender, add everything in except for the light olive oil. Turn the blender on medium speed and slowly add in the olive oil and blend until thick and creamy. NotesRoom Temperature: To prevent broken mayo, make sure that all ingredients are at room temperature. Oil: The absolute key is Extra Light Olive Oil. No olive oil taste at all. Storage: This will last up to 1 week in the fridge Egg: This recipe contains raw eggs. If you have a concern, buy pasteurized eggs.

I'm trying to avoid soybean oils (and oils like that). We've been using Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil mayo. Organic ingredients, similar or better than what I might use if I made my own mayo from scratch.

Corn has been "bioengineered" for decades, if not longer. All crops have been modified in some way for centuries. It's called cross pollinating, splicing, and saving the seeds from the plants that resisted disease or pests the best. Corn today is nothing like the corn that was grown over 100 years ago because farmers created their own strain.
We just can do it at a micro level now instead of growing stuff in a greenhouse for several generations.

Among other things, Im trying to avoid seed oils. I rarely use mayo but I do like the Primal Kitchen Avocado mayo. Most of our food in the US contains harmful/terrible ingredients. Primal Kitchen has been owned by Kraft Heinz for a few years but has maintained their healthy standards.

Mayo- delicious. 😂😂😂 Im not making it from scratch, so Hellman's is! I make it from scratch all the time. Soooooo very easy! In the 80s I worked at Lubys, in the kitchen. I made some of the salads. Everything was made from scratch. Making the mayonnaise was one of my jobs. I remember it was surprisingly easy and tasted so good. We all loved eating at Lubys and I gave my family and friends the salad recipes. Including how to make the mayo. Good times. 😊

Corn wouldn’t exist at all without being carefully selected for, no would most of the food we eat. The difference between ancient peoples doing that and todays GMOs is time, that’s it. One is fast and one is not.

One is fast and one is not. Yep. Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and Brussels sprouts were all bioengineered from the same parent plant through selective breeding. I agree in the case of the mayo, it’s probably the soybeans used in the oil. Bioengineering/GMO happens before the plant is grown. Not like hydrogenation and other processes that happen in the factory.

Yes, bioengineering does not mean automatically bad.
It can involve an effort to make things more efficient in order to keep food available for everyone, keep crops producing in a stable way, and deal with climate changes, etc.

I mix tuna with barely enough mayo to moisten it (not a Mayo fan) maybe 6x a year, (and yes, the tiny 8oz container goes bad before i come close to using it up) so unless I was eating a large amount of it daily I wouldn’t personally be too concerned.

GMO soybeans maybe. There is absolutely nothing wrong with GMO crops. The food is safe.
