Our long time neighbor moved out of town yesterday. We will really miss him as he was a wonderful neighbor. New neighbors moving in Saturday - he will be out new school resource officer! My bil is an officer in town and will be helping his family move so told us he would be using our driveway which is very near their side door.
I was going to make a plate of cookies and bars for them but have come down with a terrible cold today! (Could be allergies as the pollen counts are very high for some reason). Is it safe for me to bake? I’m thinking of a mask and maybe gloves. Acceptable?

Honestly? I'd show up with prepackaged cookies.

It’s a really nice thought, but I wouldn’t bake anything, even if I were feeling well.
Are they new to the area? How about taking them some cookies or pastries from your favorite local bakery?

If you dropped off cookies while you sounded sick, we would toss them. We would tell you they were great, but we would not eat them.

We wouldn’t eat any food baked by a stranger, sick or not, neighbor or not.
You have no idea if they have food allergies, are diabetic, vegan, trying to lose weight, etc.

Wait until you feel better and are no longer sick to make them something!
I understand the want, but don't do it! Just order something pre-made and have some cold bottled water for them!

Take them a bottle of wine (they can regift it if they don't drink) or flowers.

I know you are trying to be nice but honestly, just let them be. A neighbor bringing me anything on day 1 just gives me nosey Mrs Kravits vibes that would put me on high alert. That is a neighbor I would wave to but probably want nothing to do with.

I'd buy cookies or another treat, or take a plant.

All good points. Donuts from local bakery ordered. No wine - I do know they are Mormon, and correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s no alcohol correct?
