I need to replace my small paper trimmer.
I have been using a TONIC STUDIOS Tim Holtz Comfort Trimmer 8.5" I purchased in 2018. I'm finding that the guillotine blade no longer operates smoothly and the paper sort of bends/curves with the cut. My DH filed the blade and base strip, plus tried to adjust the cutting in general. I find it's really not very precise, plus I'm cutting smaller strips of paper for paper crafting and the small strips are difficult to hold in place. My DH tried cutting small strips and made the same observations. (Holding the paper with washi tape works - but that's kind of a pain.)
So.....
Does anyone have a recommendations for a smallish paper trimmer? I like to have the trimmer next to me on my work surface, so I can quickly and easily chop up paper and card stock.
I do have a Cricut 13" Cricut paper trimmer. It cuts okay, (and does the same 'bending/curving the paper'), so I'm finding I frequently need to replace blade. Cricut replacement blades are not cheap. I've noticed replacement off-brand blades on Amazon and I'm considering purchasing them to try them out.
I'm wondering if there are other small trimmers/paper cutters anyone uses that they could recommend?
TIA

I've been using my Creative Memories guillotine style trimmer -(eBay link) for about 20 years now. I'm not sure if they still sell it but it was worth it to me. I actually have 2 because I found one at a garage sale so it's my backup in case I break the other one.

I also have both the Tonic and CM small guillotine trimmers. I got the CM one in the last 3-5 years. I’m sure they still sell it.

I have had both the Tonic and the CM one. The only reason I have the Tonic is that it cuts up to 6 x 8 and the CM one is smaller than 5x7, which drove me crazy.
I much preferred the CM one and my Tonic is biting the dust. Sigh.

I have only had Fiskars trimmers, which I only just realized actually. Back in the day, I got two of the taupe-colored triple-track trimmers. One was a bigger 12" with the swing out top guide ruler and the other the small photo trimmer which only measured out to 3 or 4 inches. I now have a really big 12" Fiskars guillotine, which doesn't meet your criteria, and a 9" Fiskars card making trimmer. The top ruler goes to 5 1/2 inches on the left of the blade track, the right side also has grid marking from 1/4 to 1 1/2 or 2 inches. The track is nine inches top to bottom, so you can cut letter into 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 card bases but not into 11 x 4 1/4 bases. I am truly loving it. But I have clearly always been a track trimmer fan. I went to go find a link to the one I have and found this small Fiskars guillotine trimmer: linkAnd this is mine link

I have this Fiskars 12" rotary trimmer. I especially like that Fiskars stands by their products. Mine started cutting crooked even after changing the cutting bar. Even though I bought it years ago, I filled out the form on the website and they sent me a new trimmer. I also use the Creative Memories guillotine for trimming photos and journal cards.

I had the small tonic guillotine trimmer that I used for super fine cuts and trimming photos. The plastic arm broke off.
I replaced it with a cheap one from Michael’s and it sucks and doesn’t line up right to get a good square cut. Total waste of money and I definitely got what I paid for. 😕
Plan to repurchase a tonic guillotine, but plan get the next size up as the small one was too small.
I don’t know why finding the perfect paper cutter is so hard. I also have multiple Fiskars trimmers that are great for gutting paper (can’t do that with a guillotine) or cutting tiny pieces in odd places, but they dull so fast so that my cuts are fuzzy unless the blade is brand new.

I have the CM one, and it’s definitely still sold as I got it from Amazon last Christmas. My only complaint is that when trimming a 6 inch photo or mat, you still have to use a bigger trimmer because the width only goes out to like 5.5 inches.

I actually have 2 because I found one at a garage sale so it's my backup in case I break the other one. That little guy is one of the few things I’ve ever given away and regretted a little bit. I’ve managed without it for more than 10 years but still, it was much better than the un-square Fiskars one I got when I got back into cardmaking. So I just bought a used CM one on eBay They do still sell them new but I’m just as happy to get one from a picker for half the price. I have a TH 6x12 trimmer that’s ideal for cutting down 12x12 paper and cardstock but for those little cuts in the middle of a card project, the little CM one will give me back some much needed desk space.
