I have never been as excited about a hobby and kept up with it as long as I have Scrapbooking. Ever since I got invited to a Creative Memories party in the late 90's I have been hooked on modern day Scrapbooking. I still get excited every time a new collection or product comes out. So I will confess I could be considered a "Hoarder" especially by people who don't realize how many scrapbooking products there are out there.
I do have the "get it before it's gone" mentality and FOMO (fear of missing out).
There are products I passed on and then when I wanted them later ended up spending a lot more for them buying them through ebay, etc. Also there are a few unicorns that I fear I shall never find that I didn't buy at the time, so if I really want something I usually Pre-Order it to make sure I will get it before it sells out.
I have a corner of our family room with a long table to scrapbook on, so I don't have a scrapbook room with a door I can shut. So I have scrapbook stuff stored in other places of the house too. I try hard to keep it neat and manageable.
There are some ways I have cut down on spending. When my daughter was young we would go to Michael's every week so I could use the coupon. I no longer go to Michaels (or JoAnns or Hobby Lobby except on the rare occasion my daughter needs art supplies). Our 5 local scrapbook stores are gone now (RIP).
My biggest "problem" (First World Problems as they say) is that I love what I have so unless I use it up I am not getting rid of anything. Also patterned paper calls to me, it is hard for me to pass up buying cute patterned paper. But I really have to ask myself if I really LOVE something before I buy it (I know I should be asking if I have an actual use for it).

i absolutely think it does. the pretty packaging, the coordinating collections, the FOMO manner in which they market new stuff. the industry absolutely encourages it.

I think it does, do I care? Not really. I've been doing this for close to 30 years. It's my one vice, my therapy, my distraction.
I over analyze almost every scrapbook purchase I make. It's ridiculous. I know I will use the products or tools. The issue is time. If I could purchase some of that, I'd be very productive.
Maybe I'm trying to justify what I own, but this is a slow accumulation. There have been few times I've done a large purchase that would be youtube worthy of posting my amazing scrapbook haul. And those were purchases at a deep discount. Even then, I've gone months or a year or more not buying anything. I think it helped when I started and to be honest now, that I've never had a huge budget. It's always just been a hobby.
I have space for my stuff. If it gets a little full, I might throw out a few things, but I have no desire to drastically downsize. I do in some other areas of my home though!

Such funny responses everyone! I agree with several of you: I don't hoard, I treasure.
