In Baja California. And all California residents breathed a sigh of relief[/p..Uh, yeah...no. Multiple areas are now under evacuation orders due to recent fires. Even a small amount can cause wide spread mud slides. Multiple people died last year. There is also power outages. Roads washed out. And now we have a 40% chance of a tornado which could increase to over 50% later this afternoon. No one is breathing a sigh of relief.

In Baja California. And all California residents breathed a sigh of relief.. Not quite yet. Where I am It's been raining since 7 am, supposed to drop more than 3 years worth of our regular rain in less than 24 hours. We're under severe weather alert and keep getting flash flood warnings. The city east of us have already lost power. As a city, we're not prepared, or built for rain like this. The wind hasn't even arrived yet. pantsonfire we were posting at the same time. 🙂

In Baja California. And all California residents breathed a sigh of relief.. I don't understand your post at all. Care to clarify? Wishing the best to those who will experience the effects of this storm.

I meant that the residents of California were not going to experience the wind and destruction from the hurricane. --I forgot that California is plagued with mud slides. I have experienced hurricanes but not mud slides as that did not happen in coastal Texas.
I apologize for not remembering mud slides.

No, it still expected to cause catastrophic and life-threatening flooding in multiple states. No one is breathing a sigh of relief, especially when people in Baja California are in danger as well.

I don't understand your post either. No one knows what the future holds. Today is far from over and we don't know what repercussions today's weather will hold in the future.

It is still a tropical storm. Winds up to 40, gusts up to 60. Rain and thunderstorms all afternoon. We are not breathing of a sigh of relief yet. The storm will hit San Diego around 2-3PM.

I also think most people knew that the actual hurricane hitting CA was a slim chance and it would most likely hit landfall in Baja first. But that doesn't mean we are out of the woods. We don't usually get rain of any significance until November-ish. Average rainfall in LA in Aug is zero.

People here are getting on FB and saying see nothing happened where is it. It wasn’t supposed to hit here until tonight. 🤦♀️. We haven’t had high winds but have had over half an inch and it’s the quiet in between bands now. We have one road closed due to a broken water main (not sure if it had anything to do with the storm or not) Riverside dispatch has posted two extra 7 digit phone numbers because there have been issues with 911. I’m not expecting it to get bad here but there are many people evacuated north east of us in burn areas. The desert areas will likely have flash floods but oh no these idiots are making fun of people online. Rather than being thankful that it likely won’t be bad where we are. I’m not criticizing the OP but the yahoos in my local FB groups. They are just so proud of making fun of people that were afraid of this storm a storm which hadn’t even hit yet. We are expecting more than 2 more inches and winds up to 40mph.

In Baja California. And all California residents breathed a sigh of relief.. Sorry. This feels a bit tone deaf to me. So it’s ok that it hit in BC, let them have the worst of it as long as it’s not CA?

I appreciate your clarifying. At least a day ago (maybe even two days ago), the prediction for harm has primarily been the rain and the resulting floods. The wind for the most part wasn't/isn't a big factor. And honestly, when we look at recent weather events similar to this, its the rain that causes the most damage, especially in drought prone areas. Not to mention the areas devastated by fires. Having personally experienced the monsoons in AZ, as well as the effect of substantial rain on SoCA myself, they actually are a big deal.

That was really wrong to say.
