Happy Sketchy Saturday Peas! I am using the quarterly sketch by Allison Davis for Scrapbook and Cards today. I love how her sketches are versatile; how she shows so many different options for using the sketch; how she encourages you to take the PARTS of the sketch that speak to you, and alter the others! Here is the base sketch: sketch summer sct by kirstendrew, on Flickr Here is a link to the full pdf of versions that Allison adds to the sketch: sketch variations
What I liked most about the sketch was the strips in the background - although I didn't want to use a full page worth, so I cut mine down to 5 strips. I liked the border she left around the strips. I liked the photo/journaling placement, and embellishment placement. I only wanted to use one photo, and cut this 5x7 down to 5x5 So this is what I came up with: layout odd wolf out by kirstendrew, on Flickr I used 49th and market background pp, "stone" tickets, and "stone" filmstrip elements, and old Bazzill die-cut edge strips (red and black). The embellies are all from my colour drawers and I don't even know who manufactured the acetate and felt pieces! Give this sketch a try, and keep your eyes out for the fall sketch! I'll probably use that in sketchtember if it gets released

Thanks for the cool sketch, kitbop--and the extra Allison Davis tip sheet on how to adapt it. And I love how even though the sketch called forward boating and lake scenes, you found a way to use the sketch to highlight a dance troupe.

Here is my take on this one, @ktbop. Usually I look at photo arroangement in sketches, but this time I was laser focused on those wavy strips LOL. Last Lake of Summer by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

The wavy background made me think of this paper and Zebras....

Really clever to use those zebra stripes for that wavy background, Linda!
But kitbop , have you seen this? Oh that Allison... I was happy with my take on this sketch until I opened the SCT blog and found that Allison had added yet ANOTHER take on it. Now I know I would never have the patience or skill to pull this off, but I W.A.N.T. to...

grammadee - that is a beautiful layout but I KNOW I lack the skills for even a fraction of that stitching and design
