I know, I know, I'm almost singlehandedly keeping the card making industry afloat A Mini Minc is now on my shortlist. I've been checking Google shopping, however if any of you happen to see a smoking deal on one, would you give a holler? I found one deal but they have a Grade F on BBB so not-so-much! I'm hoping with the upcoming holiday weekend that someone might have one at a decent price. Thanks!

May I ask why? Didn't you just get a Glimmer? Or am I confused?

I was given a Glimmer in the spring and enjoy using it. The Minc is a different type of foiling. I purchased one set of toner images and used a friend's Minc this past weekend on them and they came out perfectly. In particular, I would like to use the mini Minc on TE foil-its.
* I also have a question for Minc users. When you are going to color or ink blend a toner based foiled image, does one do the coloring and then foil, or foiled first then color? And if I color first, do I need to take care not to lay down color on the toner portion of the image?

You know me well enough to know that that's been in the back of my mind too. Maybe later in the fall when all the electronics go on sale. TBH, I really need to buy a new laptop first (so I only need to set it all up once) first. Mine is pathetically on it's last legs and I've been putting off that purchase for at least 6 months. Because I know absolutely nothing about computers and how to set them up (ex always took care of that for me).

I bought a mini minc earlier this year. I love it! I printed a bunch of sentiments on the laser printer and went crazy foiling them one weekend. Oh my heck.

Yes, the ability to make my own foiled sentiments is a definite plus of getting a laser printer for sure!

I'm not sure who has a good deal on one right now, but maybe there will be sales over Labor Day. Not to enable you more, but when Gina K. Designs website is back up, should be Sept 6th, check out her Poly Glaze sheets. It's the same principal as toner sheets, but you don't have to worry about black showing through if you don't get a perfect foil. She also has matching stencils, stamps and dies for some of the Poly Glaze sheets. She has several videos on YouTube showing them.

I have a cheap laminator and this one has 5 heat setting. Works fine for me and it was only $20- many years ago. Even JM said you can use a cheap laminator.

Office supply.com has it for $64 and free shipping. If you’re getting a Mic then you definitely need a laser printer too.

I have a mini minc and LOVE IT!!!!
Check out Nancy Stamps on YouTube and Foiling Snobs Club on FB, she has some amazing educational videos with honest reviews.
Foil first and then ink blend
Also, Taylored Expressions has released a toner foiling shim and it has made my results a LOT more consistent.

I've seen people do the ink blending both ways (before & after foiling) and as long as there were using dye ink, it worked the same and they just inked right over the toner. HOWEVER, I trust NancyStamps on all things foil, and she says to ink blend after and then wipe the ink off the foiled areas. And I know that you can foil with a laminator, but the Minc really does work better. Don't need to let it warm up for so long and more consistent results. Another great shop for foils, if you don't mind ordering from someone on Facebook, is Bluebonnet Foil-RGV. You have to send a facebook message telling her what you want and she messages you back, but you get so much more foil on a roll than the Deco Foil. Just make sure that you order from her toner foils for the Minc, and the hot foils for your Glimmer. Random favorite thing about the Minc: I bought some laminating pouches and accidentally bought the 10 mil. Most home laminators can't handle that thickness. My Minc on setting 5 did a beautiful job on them

Nancy Stamps just did a video on that shim and she didn’t seem all that impressed with it. She could only get it to work if she set her Mic on #4 which is really too high a heat setting for foiling.

I'm somewhat more likely to put it on my Christmas wish list, though my family might be tired of me asking for nothing but crafting tools. And I have no idea where I'd put more crafty tools.
Well, maybe a slight inkling of an idea....
It does seem slightly less impractical than a Glimmer. I remember when these toner foils first came out way back; I was intrigued at that time as well.

I love TE's foil shim. I haven't had any problems since using it. I always set my minc at 3. Maybe mine runs hotter?

There's a new one (of course sold out everywhere right now) that I'd love to try at some point.

FWIW, MichyM, I've been ordering quite a lot from office supply.com, recommended by another Pea (though I can't remember who) and I have had nothing but good experiences with them.

I haven't tried the Pink and Main foils, but from what I understand, they bought out a company called Creative Visions Stamps and the foils are the same - if that's true, they are really good. The clear backing is thicker than the decofoil and they're less staticky. The only reason I haven't tried the Pink & Main is because I was just getting into foiling when Creative Vision announced they were retiring and I bought SO MUCH foil that I don't think I'll ever need any more ever.

I ordered the Spellbinders universal platform and some extra cutting plates because they happened to have the best price at the time and they were delivered right on time and in perfect condition. I seem to remember getting free shipping too.

Ok. I ordered from Office Supply dot com. Hopefully I’ll have good luck with them as several of you have. They have an extra -$4.50 coupon so it was under $60. I am super skeptical about the site after reading online reviews but willing to give them a shot. Delivery is supposed to be on the 10th.
In the meanwhile I’m holding my breath and crossing everything 😁
