Thanks guys, your skepticism made go back and double check. It is a fake account.
By doing a search on twitter the account that came up was identical to the I had been looking at. But it showed he had been on twitter for years and the only people he was following were music companies.
So I took a closer look at both pages and the one that was DMing me had one tiny difference in the name which made it a different account in twitter world. All the tweets on this fake account were retweeted from the original account. At one point one could scroll down and look at tweets from weeks ago but no longer at least on my iPad so there was no way for me to see if the retweets had originated on page I was looking at or not. Because I did try to check that.
This is the one thing they said would happen on twitter when Elon Musk took over and made his changes. And I almost fell for it.
So thanks guys for your skepticism.

20 years ago I might have paid to see his willy, but now, not so much. ROFL! Jeez, pjaye, what made you think it’s about his willy? Men on social media wanting to talk in private is always all about the willy.

Coincidentally, I was just watching the news and there was a story about a similar situation and the woman was scammed out of about $90,000.

Beyond glad you found out he was a scam before you got sucked in like my mother in law did with fake George Strait.
She actually believed she was communicating with the real George Strait for months and gave him over $500k and almost her home before we were able to intervene. It has created a huge mess in our family and to the people she stole money from to give to George.

I went to a London concert with santana, Stevie Winwood, Eric Clapton and Marcella Detroit. Marcella came on to a post show Facebook group I was in and we exchanged a few comments. Next thing I know I had 'Eric Clapton' sending me DMs saying what a great fan I am and how he would like to get a few such fans together for some sort of 'get together'. I know enough about Clapton to know this is absolutely the last thing he would enjoy lol- I played along for a little while, before telling whomever it was they were a scammer.I showed Marcela Detroit and others the screenshots and she was very amused and agreed he was the wrong person to use for that scam, lol.
I hope your guy is real but I'm a massive cynic these days.

All this occurred to me. But this is why I think it’s him. When you look at what he has twitted it’s mostly about the stuff that he has done. The link he has in his bio takes you. to his official site that has been around for some time. But the one tweet that really makes me think it’s really him is one of him FaceTiming a group of people that were singing happy birthday to him. Whoever took the video, I’m assuming it was his wife, was standing right behind him in his home showing him FaceTiming this group. And it was him. And the group he was FaceTiming were the actors currently on Broadway doing a play about his life. Part me knows this could be a scam but that one tweet showing him FaceTiming makes me think it’s really him. And I really do love his music. And the idea to have or be part of conversations with him and hear stories about his life from him…. Sometimes you just have to take chance and do it. I do appreciate your comments. I’ll know by later today if I decide to take a chance because I want to get back to him today one way or the other. So someone posted a video that he is in? That convinces you that he is the real deal? Nah, someone found that video online and posted it to convince women who have a case of the love sick butterflies to ignore their common sense and (later on) think he is really in love with them and that they should cash in all their retirement and buy gift cards and mail them to him because his bank is closed on a holiday and he needs money. This screams 'Dr Phil episode' in the making. Edited to add: I see she updated the thread with a response before I posted this. Glad you figured it out that it's fake.

I am glad you did some more investigating and found out
While I would have been overly skeptical from the beginning, I would also not be absolutely/totally be surprised if it was legit…depending on the artist and how “popular they were or are” and what their status in the the music world is/was. But I would be more prone to immediately think scam. If it was a Jesse Winchester type person I would be more apt to believe, A John Bon Jovi status - immediate nope.
ETA - I wanted to say I would automatically think looking for big $$ first reason, a little Willy next in line.

True celebrities don’t send DMs to fans and invite them to a “private page”. Trust me, it’s a scam.
I know this because my friend’s roommate fell for it. She truly believed Luke Combs was texting her privately and after a week or 2, the scam started—-she was sending “him” money and buying crypto currency and sending it to “him”. She then gave “Luke” her Drivers License #, address & SSN so “he” could open an account for her because he was going to buy her a car. She believed he was going to leave his wife and marry her and my friend’s roommate knew it was true because he sent her a picture of the car he was buying her and a picture of the engagement ring he bought her.
Of course she ended up having her credit totally ruined and she was out thousands of dollars and this person is still opening credit cards in her name.
I know it sounds like “how can someone fall for that” but you’d be surprised how many do - mostly women chatting with fake celebrity accounts.
I am glad you realized it was a fake account.

What is a private platform?
Did you search on twitter for his stuff or did it just show up?
I don’t know twitter so I don’t know how it works.
Go with your gut.
ETA: ok so the update says it’s a fake profile
I’m still curious what a private platform is and how you found the tweet ☺️
And also for the hi-jack story. It could help others who may find themselves in the same situation.

I would stop responding. Then, pour a glass of wine and imagine a life where you and he lived happily ever after when he fell in love with you during a twitter exchange. If anyone asks, you do know him personally and he is just as wonderful as he seems.

I’m not sure. When I joined Twitter I had someone follow me who had the name of an older celebrity. At first I thought it was cool but then I realized it was likely not that actual person.

I wouldn't touch his 'private platform' with a ten foot pole. I giggled at this like a ten year old. So I took a closer look at both pages and the one that was DMing me had one tiny difference in the name which made it a different account in twitter world. It can be as subtle as even whether the "a" in a word is Cyrillic or English alphabet. I'm a massive cynic these days. All day long. And twice on Sundays.
