Those who are familiar with my posts know I’m on twitter a lot.
Lately I have been playing a lot of my CD’s since there isn’t much on tv these days.
A couple of weeks ago I was playing the CD of my favorite singer. I have been a fan of this guy for decades.
While listening to his album I checked twitter and somebody had retweeted one of his tweets. His tweet was saying that folks should listen to this guy sing one of his songs on YouTube. I didn’t even know he was on twitter.
I very rarely tweet on twitter but I replied to his tweet saying while I was listening to his album I checked twitter and there was his tweet and said I would check out the guy on YouTube.
Later I thought was a dumb tweet and should delete it. But I didn’t.
Last Thursday I received a notice that he was following me on twitter. So I giggled like a 16 year old and checked out his page. He hasn’t been on twitter for long and it said the tweets were his. I looked at what he had tweeted and it was stuff that he would tweet. So I followed him back.
A little later I received another notification I had a DM and it was him. He said hi and was hoping I was having a wonderful day. Which really set off the teenage giggles.
So once the giggles subsided I responded by thanking him for following me and that I hoped he was having a nice evening.
He responded he was and expressed his appreciation for his fans. I didn’t know what else to say so I just “hearted” his post. I though that would be the end of it.
Then I saw yesterday that he had responded again Thursday night asking if I had ever been to one of his concerts.
So I responded by apologizing that I had not seen the post until yesterday and that no I had not been to one of his concerts. And I thanked him for the music he has created over the years because I enjoy it as much today as I did when I first heard it. Which is true.
So he responded how he appreciated the fact that I have been a fan for decades.
So I responded one more time thanking him for the nice things he said and said one doesn’t always get to tell someone how much they have loved their work over the years and I was glad I had the opportunity to do so.
So when I got up this morning there was DM from saying he wants to add me to his private platform where he talks to loved ones and his favorite fans.
As far as I can tell this is really him and not some bot or troll.
I have always loved his music.
I have to admit I ‘m leaning toward telling him yes I would love to be added to his private platform. But then I hesitate saying ok. Maybe because I’m overthinking this.
So what would the peas do?

This sounds like an online catfish scam. Like all the videos online where older women think they are “dating” Johnny Depp and the catfish investigators have to break it to them that they are really talking to an internet scammer in Nigeria. The new account, him repeatedly contacting you. You giggling like a teen. Sounds fishy. Don’t send any money!

Just to clarify - is this the actual singer or the person who retweeted him? Regardless, I would ignore it.

I would no longer engage with him. Sounds too “fake”. I would even stop following him.

All this occurred to me.
But this is why I think it’s him.
When you look at what he has twitted it’s mostly about the stuff that he has done. The link he has in his bio takes you. to his official site that has been around for some time.
But the one tweet that really makes me think it’s really him is one of him FaceTiming a group of people that were singing happy birthday to him. Whoever took the video, I’m assuming it was his wife, was standing right behind him in his home showing him FaceTiming this group. And it was him. And the group he was FaceTiming were the actors currently on Broadway doing a play about his life.
Part me knows this could be a scam but that one tweet showing him FaceTiming makes me think it’s really him.
And I really do love his music. And the idea to have or be part of conversations with him and hear stories about his life from him….
Sometimes you just have to take chance and do it.
I do appreciate your comments.
I’ll know by later today if I decide to take a chance because I want to get back to him today one way or the other.

I'm in the same camp as everyone else but if you really want to confirm it to yourself, then contact his official website or agents and see if his Twitter account, Insta etc are linked there and if it is the same as the one you are talking too. If it isn't, then let him or his agent know, they may want to know his name is being misused for possible scamming purposes.

If I'm reading your latest post correctly, it's linked from Twitter to his official account, which I'm thinking anyone could do. But is it linked from his official account to the Twitter account? If it is him, enjoy the chance to interact.

Just want to point out too that many celebrities have someone who responds as them to social media. The celebrity themselves are not actually responding to you, but it is someone on his staff.
Is there mention of this platform on his official website?

If it's really him, then I think "private platform" = Only Fans, and you'll have to pay to see pictures of his willy.

A COMMON scam is someone creating a social account that looks (and it named) almost identical to a star/celebrity, then engaging in exactly the kind of behavior you are seeing. It is also possible that it is his true account but was hacked, especially if he didn't use it much or his team doesn't monitor it well. But that is less likely.

Scam. I follow a few artists (on IG) and don't even like commenting or liking their stuff because then you get all fake accounts, that look real, DMing you thanking you for being a fan. The artists themselves will occasionally have a post or story about how they will never contact you personally.

Nope sounds fishy to me. I have had a few minor celebrities either like a post or comment and I am giddy (there is one 'celebrity' that interacts with me on occasion and I am 100% positive it is her and actually going to met her in a few weeks.), but there is never anymore action than that. If there was my Spidey senses would go into high alert.

I'm sorry, I also think it's a scam. I've read many, many times that the scammers find pictures and video's online and use them to "prove" they are the real deal.

You are getting school girl flutters when he reaches out to you - why do you think he is messaging specifically to you?

Are you talking about Neil Diamond? Does he even DM fans?
Do celebs do that on X? I’m asking because I don’t know.
