Happy September.
I will be resting today. There is nothing interesting on tv during the day. However, I started this seasons Temptation Island and that's just smutty enough. So, if your boyfriend is a cheater how is going to Temptation Island a good idea? Clue's in the name, people! If I don't get better soon my brain cell is going to fal out and I don't have anymore to spare.
What's on your menu? Dh is eating rice. What are you up to this weekend? We're gonna work on getting our wind back. Apart from that, it'll be restful. teddyw, wishing your husband clear margins and hoping that he'll do what the doctor says and not try to go golfing. tanya2, I'm thinking of you and your family. Wishing everyone a happy, fun, relaxing weekend.

Hey all - sorry I've been MIA. Lots of last minute stuff between vacation and getting kids settled for the new year. Hope you're all doing well! Going out tonight as I am still am way behind on my grocery shopping and have nothing to eat in the house!

I am binging on recorded episodes of "48 Hours" right now ... using about as many brain cells as you scrapmaven. No plans for the day other than to pick up my 20 shucked oysters later ... I mentioned the other day that the owner of a local seafood store has offered to shuck them for me for an insanely low price ... I'm going to pay her double! I have been craving oysters all week ... you would thing I was pregnant but that would be impossible. Do you love or hate oysters? I'm not sure what dinner will be ... it depends when the oysters are ready. Still thinking of everyone who needs positive thoughts and hugs!

Sadly, leannec, I don't eat seafood, except for albacore tuna salad which is really more like mayo w/tuna. So, oysters would a be a big "NO". Darcy Collins, how many kids are going back to a university?

If I don't get better soon my brain cell is going to fal out and I don't have anymore to spare. My brain died just a little hearing you're watching this. I'm just kidding. Lots of last minute stuff between vacation and getting kids settled for the new year. But did you have fun? Because that is what counts. I am "working" today. OK, I'll be honest, things are slooooooooow today. No one is working today because of the holiday Monday, including my boss or coworker. So there's really nothing to see here. If I didn't already have a vacation coming, I would have taken the day off too. If you are keeping track, the camping trip is happening in two weeks. That is...if we have a floor. I kid. We will have a floor. Jeremy worked on it last night and should be able to finish up tomorrow. I'll be cleaning the house tomorrow and doing laundry. We are having a small BBQ on Sunday. I can't wait to see the baby. He's crawling! Tonight I will make pasta I think. Maybe I will just get takeout because my acupuncture appointment is at 6:30. scrapmaven, I feel like I should wait and eat after instead of going in after a big meal. What do you think?

Happy Friday! Spent the past two days lounging at the pool in Vegas. scrapmaven I have seen the Blue Man Group on a prior trip. I agree with you, it is a great show. We went to the Luke Bryan concert Wednesday night. It was wonderful! It is actually raining in Vegas right now so not sure what our plans are for today. tanya2 I have been thinking about you and your family. We typically make no dinner plans when we are out here. Tonight is no different.

Lazy day here today, recovering from my adventures yesterday. Just a few chores - groceries, recycling etc. After seeing the Disney 100 exhibition earlier this week, I am now binging on Disney+. Today I was watching ‘Behind the Attractions’ series, which shows how they developed and built some of the iconic rides. It is really fun and makes me want to go to a Disney park again. Maybe I can convince DH to take a trip to Disney Paris.
Dinner tonight is ricotta cheese and spinach pie, sort of like my nanna used to make. It is in the oven and will be ready whenever DH makes it home.

scrapmaven , watch Poker Face on Peacock, it's a fun show! I spent all day yesterday trying to figure out why my printer wasn't working. Finally realized DH had moved the modem behind his monitor so the signal couldn't get up the stairs, around several corners to my craft room! I'm making chicken noodle soup for dinner as our high is supposed to be 72 degrees. 40% chance of rain. Still sending prayers tanya2 and destined2bmom 's way. TGIF! Would this freak you out or what!?

jeremysgirl, eat after acupuncture and make it a protein centered meal. No junk carbs. That helps the treatment work even better. cadoodlebug, that would totally confuse me and I'd end up underneath the truck. EEK!

cadoodlebug that would freak me out. Of course years ago I had a truck on I80 out near I think Roseville turn around in the pouring rain and come right at me. I had to swerve and get out of it's path. leannec allergic to shellfish so oysters are a no go. My DS loves them, learning to like them from his aunt. Saying prayers for teddyw dh, tanya2 dh and for her, destined2bmom, scrappintoee and the dynamic duo scrapmaven. The weather feels cooler today which is nice. Little furbaby gets to go to the vet and hopefully get the cone of shame lifted and activity reinstated. I'm not sure what we'll do for dinner tonight. Often Friday's we do takeout. Lately I haven't fallen asleep until almost 3 a.m. so I feel tired today.

scrapmaven: I just finished binge watching the latest season of Love Island. Seriously I didn’t know they made bikinis that small! It’s a lazy day here today too. I did a load of laundry, grabbed a couple things at the grocery store, and bought a pair of pants and three tee shirts at a local store where all the summer clothes were 40% off today. Tomorrow I’m going on a road trip with my bestie. Her daughter and boyfriend are heading back to university. The boyfriend is visiting from Australia and wants to see Niagara Falls before he goes back. So off we go tomorrow to the Falls, then dropping them off in Hamilton at the airport so they can fly to Halifax where the daughter goes to school. It will be a few hours in the car but I’ll get some quality time with my friend. Supper tonight will be grilled steak.

I worked last night, and it was a night from hell...came into a big case just finishing....probably TMI but the room looked like they were slaughtering pigs in there....Fortunately the 3-11 OR assistant stayed and cleaned the room, God Bless Her!!! We went right into another room with another added case.... When that finished there was the aftermath of a hugely busy day, and setting up rooms for today. I could barely walk when I left there my back was so sore. Dinner will be sandwiches/snacks at a retirement gathering for the Ortho Tech. Being held at the Office of the MD's...should be nice. Will be good to see work folks in a social setting it has been a while. I am picking up a cookie tray at a local bakery...3lbs of Italian cookies😊😊😊
Thinking all the "tribe" in need of love and prayers

Dinner is probably rechauffe chili rice, or there’s pulled pork pizza (it’s really more like a casserole) that my son made here for lunch. It’s from one of his dinner boxes. He always forgets to cancel for whatever week it is, and then he ends up with way too many meals. I’m on my way to pick up a grocery order once I post this. So maybe something in there, if I don’t like my choices here. — I just read yesterday’s thread. teddyw , I used to work in the industry and I have lots of bestselling quilting books (20-ish years old, though). Some are for absolute beginning quilters. I’d be happy to send you one or more if you like. **GypsyGirl** and other quilt makers, same goes for you guys. I have some older titles that are probably collectible, and several quilting history books from Barbara Brackman and probably more authors. Also the original Baltimore Album quilts book by Elly with the long last name. (My brain is being eaten from the inside out.) ETA I just remembered! Elly Sienkewicz! And my advice for starting to learn how to quilt is to look for a local quilt shop. Just google “quilt shop near me.” I’d be shocked if there aren’t any in your area. They will likely have a beginning quilting class starting sometime soon, and you can buy all your supplies there. Another class source might be your town’s community center or parks & rec, whatever it’s called in your part of the country. Or a local quilting guild might be able to help. — tanya2 , all the best to your DH, and you too, of course. I hope they find some (relatively) easy fixes for some of his spots. Maybe that would make the rest easier to deal with? Glad you were able to talk to your DD so she can be on board with you. I’m glad Mr. scrapmaven is starting to feel better, and that people have gotten their needed acupuncture. Hope everyone else is doing well, too.

Tonight is no different. My sister and I saw him in July at the Shoreline Amphitheater in CA. It was insanely hot for this Alaskan chick but, it was a lot of fun. He cancelled several shows after ours due to illness. He was coughing at our concert so I believe it to be true. Yesterday afternoon my friend and I went to the Alaska State Fair. It was horribly windy but at least the rain had stopped. We HAD to go yesterday because her daughter was performing on one of the stages. We shared spinach bread, rolling donuts (little donut rolled in cinnamon and sugar, and we each had a really good taco. We also saw the giant pumpkin. This year's winner weighed 2023.5 pounds and the biggest cabbage was 119 pounds!! It doesn't take much to entertain me!! She also let me ohhh and ahhhh at the quilt entries. So many beautiful ones!!

and wants to see Niagara Falls before he goes back. So off we go tomorrow to the Falls, then dropping them off in Hamilton at the airport Leave very early in the morning as the traffic gets bad very quickly. The QEW is a mess most weekends and along with tourists heading back to the USA, it is also move-in weekend at Brock and Niagara College. That means that the 406 will be a bit crazy as well. I would park in the No Frills parking lot on Lundy's Lane and get the WEGO bus in front of the hotel next door. Parking is expensive at the Falls and sometimes difficult to find, without walking so much. WEGO brings you to the Table Rock and you can get to different parts of the entire Falls area quickly and without stress. Make sure you allow lots of time to get to Hamilton, as again, the traffic is nasty. Use the Wasy app on your phone. I don't go on the highways on long weekends. Too much of a nightmare for me. The speeding then the random stopping of traffic and then speeding, people cutting in front of you, weaving in & out of traffic ~~~ it is nuts! To my American peas, this is part of the GTHA traffic area which is #5 in North America for the traffic issues. It is worse than LA traffic and very close behind Chicago traffic. Adding into the mix the international border crossings (there are 3 official + 1 Nexus only), the fact that a lot of people rent a car once a year to go to Niagara Falls and the usual idiot drivers, it is a mess. Enjoy your day, the sun should make the day warm enjoy the Falls. Dinner was a chicken pot-pie.

Hi everyone. I got to bring dh home from the hospital today - yay!! He was so ready to leave, he was getting no sleep in there at all, and he pretty much told the drs and nurses that he was leaving with or without their permission. There is nothing happening over the long weekend anyway, it would be just monitoring him, so we are home. He has to go back on Tuesday for an outpatient biopsy of his liver. Today he had his bone scan before they sent him home.
We phoned both kids today to tell them exactly what is going on. They are both fully up to speed. And both are devastated, as am I. DH is not believing everything the dr is saying, he thinks the dr is all doom & gloom, and that he's just guessing about how much it has spread. I don't want to take away his hope, but I have let the kids know how bad it really is. They have confirmed a large mass in his lung, spots in his liver, most likely spots in his pelvis and neck, and they said today there is a spot in the base of his brain. This news just keeps getting better and better. It is spreading like crazy. He can't start chemo until they have the biopsy results but the dr is trying to get him in to start radiation next week to stop the spread in the bones and brain.
But when I see him he is exactly the same as normal. He has lots of pain in his back and neck but otherwise seems like he always does. This weekend we are going to start getting organized with all the stuff that needs to be done before it's too late. First stop is the bank to make sure my name is on everything. We need to make a list of everything that needs to be done on the house to get it ready to sell - it's way too much house for me to deal with on my own. We need to sell the 5th wheel and truck, both of his motorcycles, clean out his workshop and other garage, sell all the other "toys". There's a lot. I want to start making notes and get him to tell me everything that needs to be done and where everything is. I don't have any great attachment to any of the "stuff" or even the house, so I'm totally fine with selling it all. We've actually talked about doing it for years, just now it's a big rush. Now that he's no longer working we should be able to make a good dent in it. It feels good to actually be doing something.
I am reading about everyone else's posts too. I'm sorry if I'm not commenting on it, I'm just really overwhelmed right now. Hugs to everyone!

It takes trust and respect to go on this journey that you are on. Thinking positive thoughts for you. I'm just so sorry that the OHIP situation is as such that it takes something major to happen to get the correct medical attention and testing.

Dh’s procedure was quick. He is pissed because he didn’t believe anything I said about what his restrictions would be. No golf of course. So he had to cancel playing in 2 tournaments. I’m over golf for the year because it’s restricted so much this summer. He’ll be fine. He has some stitches. Hugs tanya2 I’m glad your dh got to come home. We came to the lake and I’m working on the living wall in our backyard. I need a ton more plants. Filled 5 large bags of this invasive weed. Not sure what it is. I’ll let you know about the book lucyg. So kind of you to offer. Dinner was from a taco food truck. It had lots of hair in it. So dd and I couldn’t eat it. We were too far away to go back. Now we’re starving. My other 2 DDs are supposed to come up too. Dd1 has a stomach bug and dd2 has a cross country meet in the morning. So we’ll see.

Darcy Collins , how many kids are going back to a university? Well 2 are officially mine, but there are 3-4 that spend so much time here when my kids are on break it feels like more! I definitely go from crazy full house to empty overnight! I did have fun jeremysgirl ! I went out to help my daughter set up her pseudo apartment (still on campus, but it's more of an apartment set up with a full kitchen - fully furnished, but nothing in kitchen). It was fun, but definitely emphasized this is her senior year and no guarantee she'll ever spend much time home again
