Update: we now have a host for each day of the week! Look forward to a fun month of CARDtober with a new card challenge every day!
CARDtober is set to run from October 1st to 31st with a new card challenge each day. We have a team ready to go but we could use a couple more hosts for 2023.
What you would do as host is choose an available day of the week, create a post with a card challenge with a sample each week on that day. You would also invite others to take on your challenge, and follow up with comments and discussion on your threads. If you would like a preview--or review--of what CARDtober challenges look like, check out CARDtober 2022
If you would like to join the team, please reply to this thread and I will add you to the group planning PM.

So, when you say you have a team, but could use more members, you have less than seven members now? Or you have seven and are looking to lighten the load on some?

We have five card makers plus myself, so we need at least one more host. If there are two volunteers to host, I would step back from hosting myself. |

I feel like I am very much a follower, except when I design very personal one-off cards for people very close to me. I could crib free sketches/ideas from people I follow on social media, but not really contribute anything original.

Oh, not the hosting (so maybe this is the wrong thread)
I had too many in-progress projects BEFORE CARDtober and two more sprouted in the last two days!!
I felt like I needed to read everyone else’s challenges, but maybe I just can’t, at least until the weekend.
It occurred to me after agreeing to host that while I was around here last October, I was just a newby — I don’t think I participated at all in this.

No worries Shakti! We're all here just for fun. Do what seems fun and creative. And if your current projects happen to fit the challenge of the day, use them! I find the challenges spark my creativity and I hope to make a dent in my Christmas card stash. |

My latest off-the-wall question: I only did one version of my cards for my challenge this week. It doesn’t match the video that was my main inspiration. Should I count my version as the twist? So following the technique in the video is the main challenge?

It’s your challenge. It can be whatever you decide. You can adapt and adjust as necessary.
Being a host can be overwhelming. Do what you can, don’t worry about the rest.

The video is the inspiration; your card is your creation, and they both are there to inspire the rest of us. |
