Happy Thursday peas! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful start to Sketchtember and getting lots of inspiration from your fellow peas. Thursday sketches during Sketchtember will focus on color - this week the focus is on complimentary colors. Complimentary colors are the opposite hues on the color wheel. You can choose whichever opposite colors you want to focus on and feel free to include neutrals in your creation. For the sketch, we're once again visiting the Creating Keepsakes archives. This one is from the bonus sketch insert in the Jul/Aug 2011 issue. The zoomed in sample is a little fuzzy, so I've also included the link to the sketch on Pinterest if you prefer. For my layout I've chosen to work with Pinks/Reds and then as opposites Blues/Blue Greens as the colors go well with my chosen photo. I printed my photo at 5x7 for my focus, and added lots of layers behind the focal point. This is a great sketch to use up scraps of patterned paper. I know we all have them! 4th Quarter Team Points: If you are on team, collect FIVE (5) points for creating something based on the sketch. ONE (1) point for using the twist on ANY project. Bonus of TWO (2) points for both the sketch and twist on one project (so total of 8 points for that). Bonus of 500 points for completing ALL of the sketches by October 7th. Plus, you get to add a checkmark to your monthly collection each time you meet a SKETCHtember challenge, to include in your monthly bonus points. grammadee

Here is my take on this sketch, Ryann. I used peach and aqua for my complementary colours. It helped that a couple of the papers already had that colour combo. Girls of Summer by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

This is a lot of colour and pattern for me but the background paper was too perfect not to use:

Here is my take on this sketch, Ryann . I used peach and aqua for my complementary colours. It helped that a couple of the papers already had that colour combo. Oh, this is lovely! Wonderful use of all those patterned papers and I love the color combo you've chosen! Thank you for playing along!! Thanks for the great sketch, and your gorgeous layout top use as inspiration. Here is my page. Your journaling had me laughing! I love your selection of papers - bright and "active" but not overwhelming. Your title placement is superb! Thank you for playing along! This is a lot of colour and pattern for me but the background paper was too perfect not to use: I agree - that background paper was meant for your photos! Love the explosion of color. Thank you for playing along! not sure how faithful I was to the sketch but I used lots of layers and reds/blues as my complementary colours The spirit of the sketch is on your layout - no doubt! I love that you used different shades of solid cardstock to make your layers behind the photo. The texture just barely comes though in the photo - I bet it's that much more striking in person. Thank you for playing along!
