Yes, but that's mainly because I get too hot!

When I had (long) hair, I used to always wear it up. It was very rare I wore it down...but usually if I was going out with DH, etc.

My hair isn't very long and it really never occurs to me when cooking for family. We've never really had a problem with my hair ending up in our food though. If I am baking or cooking a meal for someone else, I do put it up.

Always. I don't want anyone to have to pull strands of hair out of their food.

My hair is relatively short (I'm way overdue for a trim and it is just touching my neck in the back) and I always put on a headband when I cook. Someone up-thread mentioned taking off her rings, and it made me realize that I always take my watch off when I cook (I almost never wear any rings besides my wedding band, otherwise I'm sure I'd take them off, too).

I have my hair back or something covering it When shorter. I can not stand hair around food.

I have long hair and I put it in a ponytail whenever I cook. I lose a lot of hair so I wouldn't want one of my strands in food...dog hair, now that I can't avoid.

Watching the cooking shows *STILL* and wondering about the prettypretty hostesses with their hair pulled forward to frame their faces. And they're LEANING over the pan on the stove, the curled tresses inches away from the food and stove top. I use a clip to get mine out of the way when I cook. I'm NOT persnickety about many things, but it just feels sloppy to me NOT to have my hair pulled back when I'm standing at the stove. My son works as a prep cook (also known as line prep in that particular chain) at Famous Dave's, and he has become absolutely *religious* about keeping his hair short and contained in the hat that he wears at work. He is nearly paranoid about the idea of leaving a hair in the food. He really wants a crew cut, or something similarly short, but I discourage that because I want him to get a date someday. He is so cute with hair. He is so not-cute without hair. As for me, I have medium-length hair, and it is almost always pulled back, anyway. I wear it in a French twist at work. I wear ponytails otherwise. I should just get it cut, huh?

Is a hair worse than all that saliva spewed out as they talk non-stop while preparing? Or what about a guy with hairy hands preparing the food? As he shoves his hands into the minced meat to mix it up, or to roll out that fondant for the cake. Yum.

I have had long hair most of my life and I have always pulled it back when cooking. In fact I have it pulled back most of the time when I am doing anything. I have very thick hair and I can not see if I bend my head down my hair falls in front of me. I cut it into a short bobbish hairstyle a couple years ago and still have to clip the front part baack to see if I am doing anything that makes me move my head.

I watch Masterchef and a few other cooking shows as well. This is one of the things that annoys me about watching. On the last season of The Taste there was a woman with red hair who annoyed me greatly because her hair was always hanging in her face and in the food. She was the last cook on Nigella Lawson's team. Anyone remember her? Another observance on these shows are the killer heels many of the women are wearing.
Oh, and yes, I always pull my hair back, wear an apron and remove my rings when I cook. Mostly because I shed a lot of hair, am a mess magnet and don't like having to remove crusty food bits from the crevices of my rings.
