And if so, is staining (red ink) just going to be the name of the game?
I got to it as quickly as I could, and have tried every single thing I could throw at it to remove it, but no go. My brand new, used one time mat has pink streaks on it.
Is there some magical potion that I’ve missed out on, or is this inherent to the mat material?

Mine are stained too. Some colors are awful. I guess we have to live with it, or buy new. 😁

Do you have any of the Taylored Expessions stamp cleaner? That stuff is amazing. I can’t recall if I’ve used it on a stamp with red ink but it sure completely removes black ink.

I have the Altenew sticky mats, but I got the WF stencil extender. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but the premise, as I understand it at least, is that it protects the grip mat around your card panel. I think I’ll have opportunities to try it this weekend.
EtA: Looked at the package briefly this morning and that's not the way it describes how and why to use the product. But what I wrote above is the impression I got from the WF video I watched about the products.

I have the Altenew stampwheel that comes with the grip mat. From my understanding, it stains. It's just like photopolymer stamps, which definitely stain with red and black ink, plus some other colours. I don't have the TE stamp cleaner so I don't know if it gets it off, but I have heard good things about it, too. I saw the WF Stencil extender when I was shopping online last night, but couldn't figure out exactly what it was for or how to use it. Let us know if you find it useful!

I don't have one. They were sold out everywhere I usually shop when I first saw them tried to get one.
I saw a few YT'ers say the staining is a given with darker ink colors and it just means the product is well loved.
I do have the large WF stencil mat. It cleans up nicely except for the reds and dark pinks.

Thank you girls. Looks like staining is the name of the game, so I’ll stop driving myself crazy trying to remove it. And yes, my WF stencil mat also stained my first use (purple ink=pink stains).
Also, I should add that other than staining, I love the new grip mat. Love it!

I've been watching Ardyth use the stampwheel, same photopolymer material, and yup, it will stain. www.instagram.com/reel/CxRoANZM6ff/

An update and a question. First off, I love this thing. Seriously girls, put it on your wish list, it's that good. My question is for those who have one. I bought the size that fits in my stamp positioner. While it's not really that big a deal to pull it out when I want it on my glass work surface, I am considering buying a second one for ink blending and other techniques. I'm not really a fan of leaving it in the stamp positioner when blending or doing messy techniques. If you have purchased a second one, what size did you get? I think I'd like larger than 6.5x8.5, but wondering if the larger sizes are unwieldy? Thanks! ETA well, nevermind. I remembered (incorrectly) that they had a 12x12 size, but they don't. The largest size is 8.5x8.5 so I'll just put that size on my "to buy in January" list. Am on a spending freeze at least through the end of the year. Holy cow I've gone overboard the last 6 months

Ok, I have a question. What exactly do you use the mat for? What makes it a must have? I don't have one and really don't think I need one but I'm wondering if it's because I don't know how to use it. Also, is it really that sticky?
Currently, when I'm using stencils, I typically use a thin sticky mat. I bought some a while ago and cut them down into smaller sizes.

It’s great for lots of things, but I purchased mine mainly for holding down stencils and small/intricate/unwieldy die cuts and inking them. And they are sticky, but tend to be easier to pick things up from when finished, as opposed to sticky mats.
And I did the same thing mentioned above: got a size to fit my regular size platform and an 8.5 square to use for extra-messy techniques, just laid down on my glass mat. (I did also get the stencil extender, getting ready to use that soon, nothing to report yet.)

I bought the WF grip mats for both my Mini and Original MISTI platforms back when they launched several months ago. I love not having to use magnets in my platform, but the grip mats just haven't worked as well for me as I'd hoped. Paper sticks fine to the top side, but with the green grid panel applied to the back side, the grip mats just don't hold very well inside the platforms. The only other people I've heard of having this issue are those, who like me, live in a desert/very dusty environment. For either of mine to even have a hope of sticking inside my platform, I either have to clean it literally every time I use it to remove the dust preventing it from adhering properly, or I have to put both sides of the carrier sheets back on between uses. I also have a lot of red rubber stamps in my collection which don't work with the grip mats in the platform either. Because of all that, I've just gone back to using the foam mat and magnets in my platforms over the past couple of weeks. I'll just use my grip mats for when I'm stenciling instead because they work great for that!

I love not having to use magnets in my platform Oh wow I didn’t even think of this! Based on the video Nina did on the WF YouTube channel when they launched, they hadn't really thought about using them in stamping platforms from they developed them either. They were just thinking about stenciling. Once someone on their realized a couple of the original sizes they had would kind of fit into a MISTI, they added two more sizes to the lineup which were sized perfectly to fit in both the Mini and Original MISTI platforms. If I could figure out a good way to keep mine stuck into my MISTI without having to clean it every single time due the dusty environment where I live, I would never take that sucker out! LOL

Can you store the whole thing (platform with mat) in a sealed plastic ("tupperware") container?

Thanks for the ideas, ladies!! I do have a Ziplock large enough for my mini, so I'll give that a try. If it works, I'll look for other options based on your suggestions for my original size.

As someone else mentioned the big plus for me is no magnets in the stamping platform. Even with a magnet, sometimes my paper would shift ever so slightly if I was impressing more than once. Absolutely a nonissue with the grip mat. Also loving it's stickiness when ink blending and stenciling. Everything stays put! Rather than buying stencil extenders, I bought a package of material that I can use for making my own stencils (which I plan to do) and cut 4 strips to place down on the grip mat to help protect it from ink. Less $$$ and more versatile IMHO.

I (finally!) got one, but haven't used it yet. I got the 8.5x8.5 size to fit my big Tim. And I thought that I would need the extra for the larger slimline stencils I have. I did put one of the guides on the back but that's it.

I have one for my mini Misti, but haven’t used red ink yet. Glad I read this post so I can be prepared to do extra cleaning on it.
