Fiskars with the wire. I don't have space for a cutter to sit on my desk permanently, and like that I can throw this one to the side when I'm not using it. My current edition is frankensteined together because the ruler fell off one, and the other stopped cutting straight. A tip: when the blade starts to get dull, turn it around, or cut the other direction, they last twice as long that way

I just wanted to post an update about the Fiskars card making trimmer -- the 9" triple track with the wire. I had read very bad reviews of the scoring blade not working well, so I'd avoided getting one, but finally did. I had gotten other replacement blades and knew they came with a clear plastic cap, so I was wondering if the bad reviewer had maybe not realized that and tried to use it without removing the cap. I used it in a class last week (having removed the cap!) and it worked beautifully. I used it to make a pop-up element that needed to be scored at 1/2, 1, and 1 1/2 inches from either end and using the scoring blade and the 1 1/2" worth of grid that's to the right of the track was just perfect. I'll be going to an actual in-person craft retreat next month and I now feel confident not bringing my big Scor-Pal!

i'm revisiting this thread because i just thought of the one thing that really annoys me about the fiskars trimmers---they never cut a perfect 90 degree angle when you butt the papers against their top guides. the he ruled lines on the paper table (which is one big adhesive sticker with lines) don't square up with the guides on top or the cutting rail on the right. very annoying. oh, and their various marks between 6-7" are not very accurate because the 6 1/2" mark falls where the trimmer folds in half. again, the lined guide is off.

I have several trimmers collected over the many years of scrapbooking. I have the 12” & 9” Fiskars portable trimmers with the sliding blade, a super small photo sized Fiskars guillotine, and my true work horse is the Purple Cow 2 in 1 trimmer that I got at Costco, I don’t even have a guess at how many years ago. I’ve always preferred guillotine trimmers personally.

In June 2020, at the recommendation of a good friend, I upgraded to the large Rotatrim. It is incredible. Over 3 years old and still like brand new. Cuts slivers. Cuts straight on. The trimmer is the one thing you use on practically everything. I'm glad I went all in on a top notch tool.
The one I got is called Rotatrim Pro 12 Mastercut II.

Funny enough, I've recently gone back to my fiskars wire trimmer. Everything else is either too big, doesn't cut straight, doesn't cut small pieces, can't gut a 12x12.

I have the same issue with the 90 degree angle, and I’m in the market for a decent sized desk one. I was hoping the ProCision didn’t have this issue.

I have the same issue with the 90 degree angle, and I’m in the market for a decent sized desk one. I was hoping the ProCision didn’t have this issue. I think the Procision is more crooked than the regular grey Fiskars with the swing out ruler arm. I thinks it's because of the printed lines on that large sticker that forms the paper guide bed. on the grey trimmers, the lines are etched into the plastic whereas it's printed on the Procision so it's not straight. The Procision is otherwi great and that's why I put up with the crooked cuts.

Depending on what I need to do, I rotate between the TH medium guillotine (small pieces or photos), WRMK The Works tool if I need a slide trimmer for a mid-point cut, and the TH rotary trimmer for everything else, including anything from card bases to tiny sliver strips. Once I got Tim’s tip of turning inward and not pushing/bearing down like a lot of other kinds of trimmers (less force = yay for me), I was off to the races. Smooth as butter.

I won a Ranger gift card not too long ago and used that along with a 20% discount code to get the Tim Holtz rotary trimmer. I NEVER would have paid full price for it but man it cuts great! I was actually surprised at how great it cuts. It's bulky compared to my Fiskers wire trimmer but the clean smooth edge is great.
I wore down my blade on my wire trimmer and I bought a new one and it just does not cut that great. I'm guessing I should have sprung for the more expensive titanium blade.

I really like the Tonic/Tim Holtz guillotine trimmer or the old Making Memories one.

The ONLY trimmer I loved was my Genesis Paper Trimmer. May it rest in peace. After 10 years the blade dulled and the company had gone out of business.
Now I used Tonic guillotine. Meh

I've spoken here about my Fiskars card-making triple track trimmer. I also have a lightweight Fiskars 12" guillotine trimmer; this one seems to have been discontinued by Fiskars but is still available at Club Scrap, where I got mine. I like it a lot, but I don't love it. I just saw an ad for a Swingline brand lightweight guillotine trimmer.
Anyone have any experience with Swingline paper trimmers? Care to share if so?

My current favorite is the newer CM trimmer, with complete set of decorative blades. I have 2 brand new cutterpeds, as I used this one for so long I have worn several out, or some part breaks. I also own the Tonic large size, but it is not the first one I reach for when crafting.

I use the Fiskars procision rotary trimmer.
I am looking at the TH version but am still on the no side.

*All* I desire from a trimmer is a true square angle if you line the paper up at the top or bottom edge. None seem to do this accurately. Also - why do I have 4 trimmers in use? I have and use - 1) the 12" tonic guillotine (great cuts, but poor alignment on the top edge !) 2) 8" fiskars guillotine (probably the most accurate) 3) 12" Fiskars "deluxe titanium trimmer with aluminum rail" - this one cuts securely straight, but the blades don't last, and often fray my edges 4) 12" Fiskars "sure cut" trimmer (with the wire) - I love this one, but the wire frays. I've learned how to replace the wire using jewelry wire. The trimmers I've used and put aside through the years: - Cutterpede rotary (never liked it) - MM rotary (liked it but boy was this one CROOKED if you lined paper up on the top edge) I do want to try the new Tim's trimmer! I just keep hoping for a 100% square/accurate trimmer. When I'm making mats or grid layouts I need truly square corners.
