I've had my Fiskars wire trimmer for a long time. Somehow the wire has never frayed.
I'm getting more not straight cuts. So I'm guessing it's time to replace.
What is everyone recommending these days?
Thanks

I have been using the newer Creative Memories trimmer and I am happy with it. The blade lasts a long time.

fiskars procision. love the self sharpening blade. beats having to replace the blade every five minutes like i did with the old fiskars trimmers. i also love the MM paper trimmer. owned 3 of them. still have 1.

Fiskars 12" guillotine and Fiskars card making triple track (the wire one); I think it's 6 or 7" x 9"ish. Goes to 5 1/2" on the left of the track, so it can cut a letter size sheet in half.

I have the Fiskars SureCut Deluxe Craft Paper Trimmer with the wire. I'm happy with it. I also have Cutterpillar crop and it's okay.

I don’t travel, so I use my Tonic full sized guillotine trimmer. The blade stays sharp, and it works perfectly for me.

I exclusively scrapbook, have used the Fiskars ProCision Rotary Bypass Trimmer for over eight years, & highly recommend it, if your workspace can accomodate its 19.5L x 8.75W (unfolded) footprint. It's accurate (i.e. cuts straight every time!) with a self-sharpening/never-needs-to-be-replaced blade, folds for storage &/or portability, & has a lifetime warranty. HTH.

I use the Fiskars one with the wire. I really like it because I can see exactly where my cut will be. I also have the CM trimmer I’m still getting the hang of it.
I looked into the Cutterpillar Crop but I’d like to see a live demo. They’ll be at the Expo next month.

Right now I alternate between a Michaels-brand Recollection trimmer and a Cricut trimmer. I didn't want to invest in a pricy trimmer in case I decided not to continue with this hobby, and that was three years ago, lol. These still work pretty well for me, but I'll probably invest in something more high-end when I retire these.

I get perfect cuts with my Carl trimmer. I've had it at least 5 years. I buy replacement blades and "mats" that are about 1/4" by 12" and fit under the blade. I buy them on Amazon.

I've got a 12 inch x acto guillotine trimmer that I bought 30+ years ago when I was teaching school. It's still going strong and I've never had to replace or even sharpen the blade. I don't know if the newer ones have the same specs but mine is a beast!

I would LOVE some advice on this. I struggle with trimmers and have for a very long time. Trimmers are the bane of my existance. Current lineup (and I want to keep all 3 sizes going forward): Desktop Mini - I have a 15 year old Creative Memories (the blue one) guillotine that has been a work horse. It's time to replace, she's no longer sharp. I no longer purchase from MLMs so if anyone has suggestions for a 5x7ish size, let me know. Assortment of Fiskars trimmers with rotary blades, wire tracks, etc. They all suck and are useless. Crooked, jagged cuts. I'm done with using them. But I need a narrower, 12 trimmer because I do travel and move around the house. Ony requirement, it has to fit in the top drawer of my Alex drawer unit. Suggestions? Heavy Duty desk top version. I need something for doing tons of cutting over and over. Currently have a Fiskars Procision Rotary bypass trimmer. From day one it has cut crooked. It cuts beautifully, just not straight. To replace this one it needs to fold in half or be narrow enough to fit under a shelf where I store my cameo. I'm considering a guillotine, but none seem to be small enough.

I have been using an old Purple Fiskars triple track, but there's no wire. I've had it forever, and love it. I also have a small 8" fiskars guillotine that I love to crop pictures with. I like the portability of them both, even while working at home. They're light and easy to move around. I get straight cuts, and can replace the blade easy.

My big trimmer is a RotaTrim, the Mastercut II 12". It's gigantic but I love it. So insanely precise and cuts are so clean. My only complaint is that it cannot cut many sheets at once, or very thick things. I don't usually need to do so but once in a while bulk cutting would be nice. For smaller cuts I have a wee little Fiskars guillotine cutter, it is 6" x 9" so not the smallest but easy to pick up and move around and use on my work surface.
I actually also have a bigger RotaTrim, same line, but it has an 18" long cutting bed and is just... too big for most things. So it lives tucked between the side of my desk and the wall. It's an amazing cutter and ONE DAY I might need it again but it is too big for most things I use a trimmer for.

As posted upthread, I've had the opposite experience since mine cuts straight every time! Perhaps your trimmer is defective. Consider taking advantage of its lifetime warranty & request a replacement from Fiskars. HTH

I've always used a Cutterpede and still love it. (Have had to replace it once or twice in 20-some years though). It cuts straight and is lightweight. Works for me!

I have a 12” Carl for bigger sheets and a Tonic Tim Holtz guillotine for smaller cuts, but still can do up to 6x8 inches.
I loved my CM trimmer but it was too small.

I used the Tonic 6x12 guillotine for years but was forced to switch when it was used to cut something that was too thick for it and it broke. I was so sad!
In trying to find a replacement I bought 4-5 different trimmers, not liking any of them. TH, cutterpede, Fiskars, etc. I eventually settled on a Dahle rotary trimmer that I love. It’s heavy, so best to sit on your desk and not move around. Precise cuts every time. I would buy it again.
For a small, lightweight desktop cutter that is good for trimming photos/mats & Cardmaking, I use the small version (6x8) of the Tonic guillotine. As long as you really hold the paper down while cutting, it cuts straight.

Yes, it came with a detachable rotary cutter with shaped blades. I forgot I had that part because I took it off and put it in the cabinet.

Just bought the CM trimmer after using the Fiskars for years. I was tired of having to replace the blade so often. So far so good.
I also love my TM guillotine trimmer for smaller pieces.😊
