They're having a really good sale on the one-payment lifetime membership. I'm teetering on the edge of getting it but I have a few questions.
First, I'm wondering if I could use it on my laptop and/or my phone, and at home or away from home? Or is it like Netflix that basically tracks your internet address? In other words, can I use it from the beach in Delaware, and from a hotel in southern Virginia, and at home?
Second, is their customer service any good when/if there are issues? This is the number one reason why I would never pay for Duolingo...in the FB groups I see so many people saying that Duo never ever replies to questions and that their customer service sucks. If I'm paying for something then I expect a reply within a reasonable amount of time (for me, "reasonable" would be within a few days).
Third, what do you think of it for helping with language learning?
The sale is $179 for a lifetime membership, as many languages as you want. It seems pretty good to me...

I’ve been using Rosetta Stone for a couple of years to improve my French skills and I really like it. You can log in on any device from anywhere and it picks right up where you left off. I’ve never had any issues requiring customer service, so I can’t tell you about their responsiveness.
I really like the lessons. It is a very practical approach that I think is geared for tourists and business travelers. The focus is on conversational skills. You don’t learn the finer points of grammar.

Well I can use a book for grammar points if I want. But conversational skills are what I'd really like to work on, since so many of our kids here in this county speak Spanish.

You might be able to try it out through your library. Our library system has the Beginning level courses of Rosetta Stone available for free. You could do a couple lessons and see what you think.

Okay, I did it. I joined Rosetta Stone. Couldn't pass up that good discount. So far I'm having fun. I accidentally started the Spanish course too low so I need to reset that to my level. Not sure exactly what level I am but it's definitely not "el come, el bebe". lol And with the Hebrew I'm already liking it MUCH better than Duolingo. And even though it's not explaining the grammar it's still easy enough (at this level anyway, lol) to figure it out... Like what endings are for feminine, and how the verb changes for the two conjugations they've given us so far. As long as I write it down and practice. Now I'm going to try the French and choose advanced just to see how it goes. haha But at least I won't be penalized for making mistakes like on Duolingo where you lose those darn hearts. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg)
