Your challenge today is to do a stenciled background on your card. My sample uses two layered stencils to make cookies. If you don't own any stencils, you can make your own by die cutting or punching a piece of cardstock and using the negative. Your twist is to use two shades of the same color in your stenciling. grammadee please add this to the challenge thread. CARDtober #7

Your card is so cute, justjac! I do have a few stencils. Not many, because I’m not particularly adept at using the few that I have, but I’ll see what I can do with this challenge.

Super cute card! I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to do some stenciling this week. I might even make myself a fall leaf stencil

I used one stencil (I don’t have any that coordinate), but I used two ink colors to get the variation of color on the bricks (Momento Toffee Crunch and Desert Sand).

justjac Thank you for the stencil challenge! Cookie monster gave me a huge smile. Adorable! scrapnnana Such lovely shading. A very versatile card for many occasions. I used a stencil to make a dark and light snow.

Those cookies are so cute, justjac! Thanks for the challenge. I have a couple of floral layered stencils from Crop & Create, and a TE quad Christmas card stencil. but those are all designed for focal images. Will have to see what I can mix and match for a background. LOVE your bricks, scrapnnana. Great shading! jjpeapea, your shaded snow looks just like shadowed snow! Good job. Love your little snowman, too.

I finally got out the September Create in Quads Sunflower Party to use! This is for my pastor, who is having surgery later this month. I'm hoping that little bump of glue under the petals will disappear as the glue dries!

So this is a 6x6 die that I regretted buying and was going to give away. But then it occurred to me to use the die cut as a stencil and I kept it! I like it way better as a stencil. It does not look like there are two shades of the same color, but I definitely did use 2 different shades. I chose not to color the flowers and just used some Wink of Stella on them.

MDscrapaholic I love your sunflowers, especially how they go over the mat. I MAY have used sunflowers in one of my cards. FurryP that stencil is beautiful. I love how you stenciled most but not all of the background.

I used an older sunflower stencil to make these panels. I tried the technique Jennifer McGuire used awhile back where she cut 4 panels then taped them together and rotated them/re-taped them to get the stencils to cover the panels in an unusual way. I used 2 shades of golden yellow for these plus orange!

I didn't know what to do when I sat down at my desk today so I tried this challenge. I did it from memory, didn't check the details, maybe I'll still get credit for the twist. I used a 3 part layering stencil and a triadic color scheme and blended heavy towards the center and let it fade out a bit around the edges. Not exactly two shades but kind of I stamped the sentiment twice with a navy color and then layered the same purple from the stencil over the top to deepen the color more. Thanks for giving me something fun and easy to do when I didn't know where to start Oct share- stencil by jo.blackford, on Flickr

joblackford that is beautiful. It looks like shades to me, so I think you met the twist.

Okay, this was done with some old SU! inks and a very cheap blender from dollar tree. I definitely need to invest in better ink for this. I did a darker color around the edges and lighter in the middle.

justjac That card is adorable! The cookies look amazing! scrapnnana the shading on your card is awesome! Is that SU! inks you used? I did on mine and think my issue might have been more of the blender I was using. I'm new to this. jjpeapea I really like the snow. It gives it such a nice, soft look. MDscrapaholic I love that bold, big sunflower! Also the dimension of the white on white. FurryP I can definitely see the two colors! That is very pretty. mbanda your cards have such a cool ombre look! joblackford did you use more than one stencil to acheive this look with all the colors? It is a stunning card!
