Long time lurker and occasional poster here, back from a hiatus. It's been a rough year. My mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer back in 2019, and battled through chemo twice and radiation once before going on hospice and dying a few weeks later. She stayed with me for a week over the 4th of July and died in mid August. It was such a shocking, rapid decline. She was only 68. Anyway. Our family is still reeling over her loss but have really drawn together and are searching for bits of joy. There are 4 of us siblings and 2 lived locally to my mom. She was passionate about sports and loved cheering on her grandkids. She had one of those person shaped sleeping bags in school colors (purple!!) that she'd wear to sit in the stands in the cold. Her lone nephew played high school football and a granddaughter plays soccer. That granddaughter was nominated for athlete of the week just now. It's a teeny mention in a small town newspaper but it would absolutely mean the world to us if she won. I'm not a well known Pea and haven't posted in a bit, but I'd really appreciate any votes for Payton (first girl listed). No registration or anything else is needed. www.bendbulletin.com/sports/vote-meet-the-nominees-for-athletes-of-the-week-oct-2-7/article_55ed9408-66fb-11ee-b568-a74d81058899.html?fbclid=IwAR0c6y9e1T2xqtUTFkK9GkDc0Pv3CMtgJmzV4HMygDoXY5IzufAn1kGp2wk_aem_Aflr0n3Obo_FD3JJna-lzpRNCNX0y9Mck1mjmjOadUKNDYz-vJsG03Ge-5fck21xdFk

Voted!
I just moved to the PNW from California and I’m loving it so far. Is this something we can vote on once per day or just a single time. I couldn’t find any written rules.

I lost my mom to ovarian cancer, too. It’s so terrible. My family got a year post diagnosis. Happy to vote! It was pretty terrible. Hers was related to a BRCA mutation and was very aggressive. I’m sorry for your loss. I’ve BT/DT myself with cancer and as far as I’m concerned there are only 2 kinds—good cancer ( where you have a series of crappy things you have to endure but you ultimately survive), and bad cancer (where you just can’t do enough and it ends up taking your life). I’ve learned lot about hospice and Death with Dignity and what happens when there is no will, etc. It’s been a real eye opener.

Voted! And I’m sorry for your loss. I lost a friend to ovarian cancer a few years ago and it was heartbreaking. Such an awful killer.

Sorry to read about your mum. Tried to vote but couldn't as in Europe. How odd, I was able to vote even though I'm in Australia. Computers and the internet are a bit of a mystery to me...
