Cool! Sign me up! I used to love driving, but in the last 10 years or so, it's become more & more miserable to me. And that's completely due to other drivers.

Ha! I actually travel on parts of Iowa Highway 4 quite often. It's not any busier or less busy than any blacktop in my area. It actually connects our school district buildings, so I'd say it is a little busier in my area.

You have always been a part of the heist. You're only mad now because you don't like your cut.

It was the back way from Coralville/ Iowa City to Cedar Rapids, When I was in school I took it to work in Cedar Rapids especially during the winter when the major highways scared me with semis in the snow. 965 was full of amazing winter views, including a stretch over a flooded out forest where the tree tops still stuck out from the surface of the water.
I just love talking about Iowa.

I've been on the road dub "the loneliest road in America" Highway 50 in Nevada. It is pretty quiet. We might have passed 2 cars total. Maybe.
The time we went there was some bug migration thing going on.. the road was literally red/thick from all the blood/bodies from the bugs that got hit. It was SO gross. There is also the shoe tree. Apparently people leave shoes on the tree. We were not aware of it at that time or we would probably brought a shoe to leave, but I wasn't going to part with my shoes I brought on vacation.. lol

My favorite drive ever was on Iowa 965 (now mostly closed). Eastern Iowa is SO pretty! I live in Western Iowa, which I think is also quite beautiful, but maybe not quite as dramatic as Eastern Iowa is. But if you know the good spots - there are some beautiful ones! We are lucky to own quite a bit of river and creek ground. Fall is just an amazing time to go walking down on the banks.

DH and i have a euphemism for these kinds of roads--- "where they can't hear you scream".

My best friend lived on the New Hampshire road. She said there are more moose than people.
