Your challenge today is to use something other than ink through your stencil: texture paste, paint, gesso, etc. I used Vicki Boutin texture paste on this card. The black snowflakes are actually metallic blue, but the photo isn't the greatest. Your twist is to use something metallic. CARDtober #14

I used embossing powder (Ranger Glitter Clear) for the lights on one and Glitter Red on the other. I don't think the sparkle is noticeable. Perhaps Lunar paste or something else would stand out more. This stencil was from Pretty Pink Posh, and I didn't like how the boughs didn't line up with the strings of lights, so I left them off the second card.

MDscrapaholic Lovely! I especially can see the glitter effect on the Glitter Red. justjac Thank you for the texture stencil challenge! My Distress Crackle Paste had not been out to play for awhile. I had two fails before this card - I tried a starburst on a navy field ("silent night") but the rays were too thin. But it was fun to play!

MDscrapaholic I love both your cards. The lights turned out great. jjpeapea that crackle paste looks really good. I wonder if mine is still usable or if it has dried out. I'll have to check.

I used the Simon Says Stamp Autumn cascade layering stencil and I embossed the second layer with gold embossing powder. Sentiment is Waffle Flower. I did some gold splatter on the background as well.

I used a pearlescent embossing paste with my stencil. It looks more silver than pearl. I didn’t add a sentiment, since I’m not sure who I’ll be giving this to, and it’s generic enough that it could be for a variety of occasions. I’ll add a sentiment when I am ready to send it to someone.

Lovely cards! I like all the shimmery crackly sparkly goodness. Now is when I wish I had some solar and lunar pastes! I don’t have any pastes or goopy things so I will have to think about whether I have a good stencil to use with embossing ink. I don’t have many stencils (or maybe I just forget what I have) but I think I have a snowfall one that would be nice with a little ink blended over for an embossed resist. I don’t use stencils or embossing very much so thanks for the push to give it a try for a change of pace. I’ll be back… (I hope!)

I have a Lunar Paste, a Solar Paste, and a HA glitter paste. I hope to get to this challenge in the next couple of weekends.

Don't forget you can always create a stencil with some stiff paper and a punch!

I tried two different stencils, snow with clear embossing, Nordic print with gold. I stenciled snow with embossing ink, melted clear embossing powder, and then blended over the top, and added more splatter with water to add more dimension to the snow and improve my blend. The stenciled element is pretty minor but I did try! I was not optimistic about this when I tried it last night. It reminded me why I don't often do messy crafts. But even if I can't make anything good out of the gold stenciled pieces, at least I made a couple of red cup season cards that I am really happy with. And I used up some of the colored die cuts I made ages ago So thanks for the challenge! (And I have a challenge that gives you a point even if your experiment ends up in the trash so I might be getting a point for the gold Nordic stenciled cards anyway).
