I never thought this would happen! “It’s over. Joran van der Sloot is no longer the suspect in my daughter’s murder. He is the killer,”Holloway’s mother, Beth Holloway, said Wednesday. But... Holloway’s body has never been found. In 2012, an Alabama judge signed an order declaring her legally dead. But on Wednesday, a federal judge who reviewed van der Sloot’s proffer said there’s a reason why Natalee Holloway’s body would never be found – though she did not elaborate. www.cnn.com/2023/10/18/us/joran-van-der-sloot-natalee-holloway-plea-wednesday/index.html

WHOA, I never thought we’d see this day…glad that sociopathic POS coughed it up.
Beth is one of the strongest women I’ve seen, I hope this brings her some peace. She has been to hell and back as a result of his actions. He doesn’t deserve to see the light of day ever again.

But on Wednesday, a federal judge who reviewed van der Sloot’s proffer said there’s a reason why Natalee Holloway’s body would never be found – though she did not elaborate I'm hoping details will be released. An earlier version of this same article quoted someone's interview on the Today show this morning saying there would be no further investigation or search for Natalee's body. I wondered why. Now with this statement it makes me think she was dumped in the ocean.

Poor Natalee... she was just a baby.
My heart is hurting for her parents.

She has been to hell and back as a result of his actions. He doesn’t deserve to see the light of day ever again. I know my response here is 100% wrong, but I would be totally behind the sentence of being tied up, taken to a local beach, and having Beth smack him in the face with a concrete block before pushing him into the water to drown. That would be justice. On the other hand, I really like the idea of him suffering day after day in prison. I’m sure he isn’t a favorite among other prisoners for how he tortured Natalee’s mother all these years. And offering to SELL her her daughter’s whereabouts is grounds for daily beatings in prison. I have never been a violent or vindictive person, but this a$$hole pushed my buttons. ETA I just read a bit about Joran to learn the length of his sentence. I was really disappointed to see he got married and fathered a child while in prison. That was bad enough, but then I read that he divorced that wife and is now seeing his “younger and prettier” woman. WTH is wrong with these women? The article states that he has dozens of women writing to him and sending him things. That just makes me so ashamed of the female gender. Where is their self worth? The wife met him while selling concessions inside the prison. I don’t get it, but perhaps she bought his line of bull. **Fixed because I misunderstood that his new girlfriend was his attorney. Well, at least he has 46 years to serve.

Well, given his mental state, dewryce, I wager he will end up committing more crimes while in prison, giving him more and more time. I had not read all that much about him in recent years. He smuggled cocaine into prison and was dealing it inside. He has been beaten and stabbed inside. I read the number of lies he has made up over the years and I truly wonder if even he can tell when he isn’t being honest. His mother has written him off and will not visit him. I don’t see a bright future for the lad. Maybe a fellow prisoner will decide to end things for him.

This guy is a shit human being, but hoping that a prison is dangerous enough for him to be murdered is a slippery slope. His punishment was to be in prison, not death. If we start hoping for murders to take place in prison, where does that end? Imagine your child were in prison for a non-violent crime. Would you be ok with him being murdered or assaulted while there? We have this weird obsession in this country with needing to put everyone in prison for everything, the linger the better. It's not normal. Sentences here do not fit the crime in general. Civilized nations do not have prisons that are so dangerous that murders routinely take place there. Note that I am in no way defending this guy. He is horrible and has murdered more than one yoing woman. He belongs in prison. He does not deserve to be murdered while in the custody of the state.

I don’t know why this guy gets under my skin to such a degree that I can feel such hatred for someone that I never have and will never meet. But just reading of all he put Natalee’s poor mother through, I don’t have a speck of sympathy for the guy. He murdered two women that we know of and made Mrs. Holloway go through years of torture, wondering whether her child was alive and sold into trafficking as Joran originally claimed, or was dead somewhere. Reading the various stories he has told over the years made me sick. I cannot imagine her pain. As I said, I know my feelings are 100% wrong, but they are my feelings.

He’s going back to Peru to serve his sentence. There is a very good chance he doesn’t survive his prison sentence.

I heard about this earlier today. As terrible as it all is I hope Natalee's mother finally knowing what happened to her daughter helps her with her grief. I'm also curious what was going on with the two other people who were originally suspects along with Van Der Sloot.
It irked me a bit that he's serving his sentence concurrently along with his sentence in Peru. But I'm sure Peruvian prison isn't a walk in the park.

It irked me a bit that he's serving his sentence concurrently along with his sentence in Peru. But I'm sure Peruvian prison isn't a walk in the park. I read that he has been transferred to a tougher prison after threatening guards. Apparently he had a cell phone in his prison cell and when the guards took it from him, he got angry. I don’t know if he made verbal threats or if it became a physical altercation over the cell phone, but it resulted in his being transferred to Challapalca Penitentiary, a maximum security prison with harsher conditions. www.infobae.com/en/2022/04/19/challapalca-prison-the-dreaded-home-of-perus-most-dangerous-prisoners/For those that don’t want to bother reading the article, I will give some highlights. The prison is up in the Andes mountains at 4800 hundred meters above sea level. There is zero technology there. Even if they had a cell phone or IPads, there is no signal. They don’t even have a television due to lack of broadcast coverage. They have books and can walk in the yard, that is it. The prison is 211 kilometers from the city of Puno, by land in poor conditions (trails), crossing unpopulated areas and in approximately six hours from the city of Puno and agreement as the road is found. The nearest town is Mazocruz, located approximately two hours away. The guards have dorm quarters on site since transportation is so difficult. He is in with the worst of the worst. Conditional are brutal. The facility is dark most of the time and the temperatures are freezing. Hygiene is called deplorable. Since they are so far from any population and the trails are difficult to traverse, visitors are seldom and are controlled by the authorities. No more cocaine and no more conjugals, Joran.

My understanding is that he will serve his US sentence in the US and then be sent to Peru to finish serving his Peruvian sentence there. I so hope someone(s) decide to make him their play toy and fuck his shit up. He is a horrible excuse for a human being.

I’m astonished that they haven’t gone after the dad. He allegedly rented the boat to dump the body and then obstructed the investigation. He’s a POS and it becomes clear why the son is like he is.

I so hope someone(s) decide to make him their play toy and fuck his shit up. He is a horrible excuse for a human being. According to the articles I read, he’s going back to Peru now. The time he has already served in Peru will count towards his US sentence and the sentence is concurrent to the Peruvian sentence. He will only come back to the US to serve time of Peru releases him early which is highly unlikely. Which is in keeping with international norms given that he was in Peruvian prison originally and they only gave permission to bring him here to complete this deal. Essentially he’s not getting anything extra in exchange for his admission to the killing and how he dumped her body - which is completely normal given the sentence he’s serving in Peru and the ability to at least giver her family some closure. ETA. I can’t get the cnn article to link but it’s one of their homepage articles today. Several other sites have the same information

I certainly hope Natalee’s family gets some sense of satisfaction from hearing van der Sloot’s confession.
I can’t even begin to imagine what that family has endured, especially Beth. It makes me so angry when I think about how awful the Aruban officials were to the Holloway family, especially Beth. I’m glad she had the determination and the means to keep fighting for justice for her daughter.

As the mother of daughters, I just can't imagine her pain. It would be a small comfort to at least have what she probably knew, confirmed. The rage I would feel would be all encompassing.
