My sister is on a cruise. She selected (as did 3 at her table) the creme puff for dessert. It had the typical shell with chocolate atop the creme puff. When she bit into it----the center was guacamole! She spit it out.
What a nasty combination of flavors!!! puff pastry, chocolate and avocado! 3 people at her table had this horrible concoction.
Years ago I was at a dinner and was served a creme puff. When I bit into it, the filling was cole slaw!!! I figured it was a prank from a kitchen worker as the other people had a good creme puff.
(beware the creme puff!)

Oh yuck! That isn't even funny. I'd be irritated that practical jokes come with a cruise.

Yuck! My father made the best cream puffs I have ever eaten. I was able to get his recipe before he passed, but I wish I had worked alongside him when he made them. Sometimes I could pick up on tips that didn’t make it to the written recipe. He and I did a lot of cooking together. Then when my son showed an interest as he got older, he started joining us in making pierogi, cabbage rolls, and a few other family favorites. My son called me last year to see if I had grandpa’s garlic dill pickle recipe. I know I had made them with him in the past, and I think I have something written down. I still haven’t found my recipe box yet. I swear, I don’t think I will ever move again. Well, if I do, I will pack my own boxes and make sure I hold onto the key as to what is in them.

That just sounds beyond awful!
Plus you have the added weirdness when you're expecting one thing and you get another - even if it's a good "other" taste, it's bad because you weren't expecting it.
Not that that is the bigger issue here.

That sounds terrible!
I love cream puffs and make them often. No way would I put avocado in one! I do make pistachio filled ones (Pistachio pudding, cream cheese, cool whip) - that is everyones favorite.

Totally not appropriate or acceptable!!! In fact, rather disgusting according to ME!!
Good cream puffs don't need chocolate frosting, but eclairs do!

If it was actually guacamole, that certainly is weird, and decidedly unattractive.
But if it was a sweet creamy filling based on avocado - yum!
There’s no reason for avocado to always be a savoury thing, it is perfectly delicious as a dessert too. As Gar said above: Google it. For all sorts of ideas, type in! Cream puff avocado

Cream puff pastry isn't necessarily for dessert. It's not sweet (until you dust the powdered sugar on top). I've had them with tuna salad inside and it was delicious - but I wasn't expecting dessert, and I don't think they called it a cream puff! They probably called it a tuna puff When my mother makes cream puffs, her filling is made with pudding mix & whipping cream. So much better than just plain whipped cream.

I thought an eclair was a rectangle donut kind of thing filled... An eclair is usually long but it is not a donut. It is made with a choux dough. The same dough that is used for a cream puff or profiterole. What you described sounds like an eclair, just not in its traditional shape. A doughnut filled with custard and chocolate is a Bismark I think.

I’ve had them filled with chicken salad and that was really good too. My husband’s aunt used to make cream puffs because he liked them. I should probably surprise him sometime with that.

Avocado ice cream, avacodo pudding and similar desserts are quite a thing. It is actually a very mild flavor on its own. And as you said very creamy and delicious.

There has always been savory cream puffs. And avocado is often used in sweet dishes. I can't imagine being close minded about a cream puff. Though I might draw the line at a cole slaw cream puff. Maybe they were going for an egg roll version of a cream puff?

She said it was offered as a dessert. IMO, a dessert = something sweet. The chocolate icing on top (as she described it) would also have led me to expect a sweet filling.

I've made a lime flavored, avocado based pudding which I liked and would make again. Between being pureed in a food processor and the lime flavor, it is a creamy dessert. It's not the first thing I'd think of to put into a puff pastry though, especially one with a chocolate shell!
I know someone allergic to avocados so it surprises me that there wasn't more of a warning about it's contents.
