I would like a Cameo 5 but would never spend that $$ on myself.

I am still using my original Cameo first edition that I bought in 2012. LOVE that Silhouette still supports it and that software still works seamlessly on it. I cut mostly paper, a little vinyl here and there, so I have never felt the need to upgrade to one that will cut other things.
However, I do know that it will not last forever, and I check out the models as they come out. I will say I like the way the 5 looks way better than the last ones. Looks less clunky than the 4. I helped my friend set her 4 up, and it felt so much more cheaply made than my old one. Above my price point for what I use it for right now. But I am liking the looks and features of the 5. Looking forward to hearing reviews.

I don’t think I’ve ever really paid attention to the Curio, but I’m going to keep an eye on it to see if it would be a good addition to my craft room. I don’t like that I have to pull my Cameo out to use it and make sure it has enough space behind it. The Curio might help with that, in addition to the other things you can do with it. Thanks for sharing!!

Thanks for sharing!! Same. I have a Cameo 3 and while there are often issues with software updates that are annoying, its not enough to make my buy a new machine. that said, the 5 looks way better than the 4, so I would definitely consider pulling the trigger on it if I run into major issues with my 3.

Looking forward to hearing reviews. I have that one also. I was just thinking it was 12-13 years old and I still use it frequently. What a great cutting machine (and the fact that it is still usable with the software). I have been through several Cricuts as they got their act together. My DIL was liking my Silhouette this past weekend as we made some iron ons for some onesies. She has the Cricut and it will no longer work with her laptop. I am thinking that Santa might get her a Silhouette. I got one for the other DIL about 6 years ago for her birthday and she still uses it when she has time. Santa usually spends about $250 on the kids, so I'll have to see if I can find a good machine or sale. I know I can share my 1000's of svgs with her. I do love that both my DILs are creative and enjoy sharing with me.

I'd feel disloyal to my trusty Cameo 1 but if he got sick......

I did upgrade to the Cameo 3 when a Microsoft update rendered my original Cameo into a paperweight. They did eventually come up with a fix, but by then I had bought a Cameo 3, which I love and use a lot.
The new type of mat is interesting, but I’m not upgrading for that.

The new mat is interesting. I have a Cameo 4 and no reason to upgrade just for a fancy mat. I don't use my 4 enough to even think about it.
The Heat Pen is interesting, but I do hot foil quite a bit. So more ways to use foils is always fun.

These are always so tempting. I love my original Cameo...she still does everything that I need, but it is nice to see what upgrades are out there. Good to know that there are options if something happens to mine.

Thanks for your responses. I purchased a Cameo 4 on clearance a couple months ago & am still debating whether to keep or donate it, since I'm uncertain whether I'll use it enough (primarily for backgrounds) to justify its storage space, learning curve, maintenance, etc.

Hmmm. I’ve been thinking about getting a Cameo. In all my years of scrapping and card making I’ve never owned one. I did have the original Cricut but I hated the cartridges and their clunky software so I rarely used it. Black November will be soon so that would be a good time to check for deals.

I LOVE my Cameo 4. Every time I use it, I vow to keep de it more often.
I purchased a SCAN N CUT in a moment of mania and have never used it. Some day…
The 5 looks sleek but, even I can’t justify it. And I can talk myself into almost anything!

I'm still rocking my Cameo 1 (although I don't use it as often as I wish). Love it so much, and think it's pretty easy to use. (I started with a Bosskut Gazelle-superior machine, but the blade holder was difficult, and the Funtime software was anything but fun). Silhouette software by comparison is very intuitive.
If my Cameo 1 died, I'd replace it with the 5 that looks like marble (agree that it looks sleeker than the previous models). Bluetooth would be a nice feature, but I'm not upgrading until this one is dead.
