I have been a member of a number of different kit clubs over the years with huge breaks in between. Anyone remember Scrap Goods (I was on their DT hahaha!) or Poppy Ink? Anyway, I have been in some of the newer clubs as well Freckled Fawn, Scraptastic etc. Lately I have been trying out Cocoa Daisy. I bought a kit which I LOVED...then I did a pre-paid 3 month sub with birthday money I received. Of course every month, since the kit was "free" I got lots of fun add-ons. I will say right now that October's CD kit Blue Ridge is my all time favourite kit, ever. I have made I think 7 layouts with it, working on the eighth! I also loved November and December...but now I have come o the end of my prepaid 3 month sub, and I was waiting until sneaks to decide whether to commit to a new sub, maybe another prepaid 3 month with Christmas money...and lo and behold I really don't like the sneaks at all. So disappointed. maybe next month...

I think this is part of the reason I stopped subbing. I decided it was cheaper to buy the kits as one off when I really love them than have to buy one every month that I may or may not really like. I do think getting things I do not necessarily love has helped me to stretch my creativity at times but now I feel like I know what I like and will use.

I also stopped my sub. To scraptastic. I still have a ton of their kits to do. My problem with all the kits lately is I just do not like the new product that is out lately. It has nothing to do with the kit clubs, I just do not see any lines that interest me. I also am not a fall line person, I already have a ton of Christmas product, so I know next will be valentine inspired, have ton of that too. I am hoping maybe spring I will rejoin. I also have collected way to much wood veneer and tin buttons I wish they would alternate different embellies. Well that was my 2 cents.

My December box of deliciousness arrived today...I have decided it is fine, and I will just sub again when a kit speaks to me and I have worked my way through another kit or two. This also freed up funds to order the final Santa Sack of the year from October Afternoon, so I am really okay with it. I don't like having piles of product going unused. zinnia yeah not a huge fan of most Christmas supplies and I live in the Southern hemisphere so it is summer here, snowflakes and winter colours just aren't working for me this time of year! I also agree I am pretty uninspired by a lot of what is coming out lately. It all feels so samey...possibly because AC owns so many companies now and they probably use a lot of the same designers.

You can't please all of the people all the time. When I was looking for a kit club to subscribe to, I went though the past years worth of kits and went with the kit club that had the majority. I chose Studio Calico and most of the kits have been great, with a few exceptions, but when 1-2 out of 12 are a miss, I'd say that's pretty good odds. I have also been surprised before, there were kits that have been "Meh" in the picture, and then I find that I've created 5 or more layouts with that kit; someitmes it's actually easier to use a kit I'm not thrilled about than one I love because it doesn't feel precious.

I get that...I did go back and look at CD kits for the past two years and basically I loved almost of all of them. There were maybe 1 or 2 that I didn't like much, none I hated. And yes definitely easier sometimes to experiment with less "precious" items. I am thinking maybe it is just a bad time for product, plus CHA is next month so I can get a good idea of what is up and coming...

The thing with kits I've always found, is that often the one that makes me think, "OMG, no way, totally not me" is often the kit I end up loving my pages from the most. And the kits I'm head over heels in love with, I'm never as happy with those pages. I think it has to do with pushing myself creatively to get over the kit dislike, and feeling pressure to stand up to the kit that I think is totally amazing, and feeling like I've fallen short.

Ashley, I find that true with the kits I have also. The ones I have that were meh, I did so much with and I was amazed at how many layouts I did. The ones o loved I was stressed at how to use. For me I just am not feeling it with the products lately, it has nothing to do with the kits. It might be that I am back logged with kits and I want to use them up first. I am a really slow scrapper.

zinnia I am slow too! I wish I had more time to scrap. ashley I can definitely see your points. And I do like stretching my creativity. I guess, I just feel a bit sad because I have been so wowed by CD in general and was all set to make a firm commitment. As I said though, I will be fine. I still have 2 full kits and add-ons to work through. The holidays and end of school here are cutting into my precious scrap time! Maybe I should be grateful so my kits don't keep piling up? Anyway, I am sure it will be fine in the long term.

I enjoy the challenge of a kit that "isn't me". What irritates me is 1) when a kit is lacking in substance (which is why I cancelled SC) 2) when kits start to feel the same (which is why I cancelled SC too!) or 3) when I already have purchased many of the items. This is happening to me too much recently, and is my own darn fault for shopping too freely

i, personally, don't want to spend $40 after shipping for a kit i don't really like. I can get layouts out of it, for sure, since i have to, but it doesn't do wonders for the inspiration. I find myself frustrated, particularly by kit clubs where you can't skip or cancel upon seeing the kit of the month. The exception i've made to that rule is Hip Kit club. and i very hesitantly joined. So far, so good, but if i find myself with more than 1 kit that i don't like, i'll axe it.

I've belonged to a lot of kit clubs too. I check out their kits (for years sometimes!) before I subscribe. Funny, I bought a 3 month sub to Cocoa Daisy for Nov, Dec, and Jan too. I've been really happy with what I've received. I wasn't tempted to buy add-ons with the January kit, but I do like it. It also seems like it will blend well with December's kit.

I have subscribed at Studio Calico and Noel Mignon. I ordered kits from both of them before I started subscribing to make sure I generally liked them. I would still sub at Noel Mignon now, but I had so much product build up; I dropped my SC SB sub because I stopped liking their regular SB kits and thought they had grown thin (I still sub to the PL kit there and like it).
I subbed at Noel Mignon for one year and Studio Calico for about 18 months (scrapbook kit); I haven't had either kit in a year, and I am *still* working my way through my bags of product.
