I want to get rid of my OG Cricut & all cartridges because I have not used them in over 4 years and they're just taking up space. I've checked eBay and different scrappy buy/sell groups on Facebook and it looks like people are still buying them. I have a couple that it looks like people will pay decent money for (more than I paid for the original cartridge) so it's tempting to sell via eBay. Have any of you sold your cartridges and if so, have you regretted it? I have a Silhouette that I use quite a bit and never think to use my Cricut so it makes sense to sell it, but the hoarder in me is fearful that I might want to cut out Disney shapes or use the Doodlebug alphabet at some point.

From one hoarder to another, I suggest you start with the cartridges you are sure you will never use, and keep the machine for now, as well as the Disney characters and any fonts and/or designs you still like.
I hadn’t used mine in awhile, but then we had two Disney trips a year apart, so I am glad that I kept them. Occasionally, I do end up using a Cricut design, although it’s not often.
But by all means, get rid of the cartridges that you’re sure you won’t use, and see what you get for them. Then decide if you want to sell the rest, but wait a few months to decide.

I don't know you but I trust that if you decided you didn't have the machine any more and you suddenly had a use for one of those cartridges you would be OK. You've already time tested it for several years. You haven't wanted to cut those things during that time, and what are the odds that you will want to more than once in the next several years? Probably even smaller.
You will maybe, possibly, years in the future have a moment someday where you think, "ugh, I had that thing I could've used but I got rid of it!!" but it will be OK. You'll figure out another way to do it. You'll use your creativity to find a solution. It will be at most a few days of frustration, more than likely only moments. You'll remember the money and space you got back, not to mention not having that mental load of asking "what should I do with those...?" every time you see them. That's a load off your mind.
I do agree that at least selling the ones that are no brainers is a good start. Don't look at it as all or nothing if you have genuine doubts.
Also make sure you're filtering by "completed listings" on eBay to see how many didn't sell at all and what price sold ones actually went for.

i didn't regret it one bit. sold the cartridges in a couple of lots on ebay and the machine on FB marketplace because i didn't want to deal with them damaging the machine during delivery.

I linked my cartridges and sold my Expression and my 20ish cartridges for $25 on NextDoor. I fully disclosed that the cartridges were linked. I sometimes use the image set images on my Explore. No regrets.

I have a Cricut and I very rarely use it. But when I NEED a certain image, it is nice to have. My kids are now having kids and some of the old cartridges are useful again. Not telling you to not sell your cartridges, but just make sure you want to get rid of them.

I sold mine (as I hadn’t used it in years) with all the cartridges as a bundle. Zero regrets and a spare shelf in my craft room now 😁 I just never felt like pulling it out and switching it on, too much hassle! Replaced a lot of the simple shapes with dies instead as this is more my crafting style (takes two seconds)

I had an OG cricut that I think I donated at some point. I have a Cricut Expression. It was at my Mom's house for years and the cartridges were in my garage. For some reason I wasn't ready to get rid of it. I like the fact that if I wanted, I could cut a really large letter or something like that.
I kid you not....just this year, I got it back out, working and organized cartridges and have been using it. I have a Silhouette portrait, but honestly, the whole computer design interface annoys me.
I find cutting on the machine with the cartridges quicker and more fun. I haven't used it a ton and am trying to remember to check for things I am scrapping. I just perused some cartridges I forgot about, like Destinations - so much good stuff I could be using! I cut out some Philadelphia diecuts for a divided page and am going to cut some London stuff next.
I also cut some pockets. I try to set aside time just play and cut stuff so I can remember what is there.
All that to say...if you truly don't want it/use it and it's weighing you down then get rid of it. I often don't feel like bothering with selling things, but maybe find someone/group that would appreciate as a donation? Cartridges are probably easier to sell online. I had no idea about popular cartridges, I will have to see because I had all the first versions of things.

I sold my Expression and all my cartridges the day that they sued the company that made great computer software for the Cricut and it wouldn't be useful anymore.
I got more than enough from it to get a Silhouette and have never looked back.
It was really easy. I took photos of each cartridge with the box, keyboard, and user guide.(Unless I was missing a piece and noted it in the description as well) I set shipping to free. I shipped most in padded envelopes.
The Expression was the hardest to ship and I put a $15 shipping price on it based on other listings and then took it to the UPS Store once it sold and it was a little less than that.

I have sold two or three. One was a snowman cartridge and I can't even remember the other two! I guess I don't regret selling them. I have about 10 cartridges right now. I don't plan on selling them. I would like to use my Cricut more, but I don't have a dedicated space.

I'll probably sell the cricut machine itself at my local LSS flea market in January and will try and sell some online. I gave myself a talking to and said since I haven't used them (or even thought of using them) in over 4 years I need to purge them. Thanks for all the tips!

I gave myself a talking to and said since I haven't used them (or even thought of using them) in over 4 years I need to purge them. Thanks for all the tips! Would it be beneficial to set aside a crafting session and go through each cartridge and images and cut things you might want, to build up a little stash before selling? I am thinking seasonal things, or typical scrapbook things, vacation stuff, etc. I sold my baby bug (kind regret it) and kept my expression. I don't use 12x12 as much as I used to, so that is why I wish I kept the little guy. Other than that, what I truly like about the cricut is the ability to be offline. Sometimes I just don't want to make sure there is internet for crafting. So I like the cartridge old school option.

Now I’m finally convinced to sell my Cricut Expression. and all the cartridges. Honestly, I’ve never used my Cricut. I’m a Silhouette person. What stops me: my Cricut Expression is red and looks lovely sitting atop my red Ikea Kallax.
I can get rid of the unused Cricut and use the space for my unused Scan N Cut.
Thanks, ladies. I needed to hear (read) this today.

If your biggest concern is Disney, see what cut files you can find. There are tons out there. You can probably find things that more fit your current style. Then wait for a half-off sale. Plus, what kind of crafty supplies could you buy with that money? Crafty supplies and tools that you want to use now.

I have an OG Cricut(s). I still buy cartridges. I don't pay a lot for them. I will only pay $15 and under. I will buy the Ebay lots but it still has to be around that price range per cart. I do have a Cricut Maker and Joy. I find my original Cricut easier. I don't have to be online. I own all the Disney cartridges. I also have hundreds of Disney coloring pages. I use my coloring pages more. I love the Disney cartridges for the extras.

No there is no issue. You can still use the cartridges in your OG Cricut just fine. If you are listing do say they are linked.

What can't people do with second hand linked cartridges? my understanding is that each cartridge can only be linked once so if you're using an older machine offline - it won't matter but if you're using the online design software and/or Gypsy, you won't be able to add the already linked to someone else cartridges. FOR ME - it doesn't matter as I'm using an Expression offline

I donated my Cricut and all cartridges to a fundraising yard sale about a year ago. It was hard to see them go at first, but I haven't even thought about them until seeing this post.

One of my other hobbies is watching decluttering videos! As we are preparing to move, this is probably a good idea. Which ones do you like? I needed space for my alphas so I cleaned out a drawer that had a bunch of CDs. I do not know what to do with the CDs but I do not need them. If I need to listen to REM's Monster, I will find it online or apple play or whatever.

I do not know what to do with the CDs but I do not need them. do you have a 2nd and charles or other used book/music store near you? you might be able to sell them for store credit - it probably won't be much though - otherwise I see CDs at thrift stores often

If I need to listen to REM's Monster, I will find it online or apple play or whatever. Offer them on Buy Nothing if you belong to a group (you should! it's the best) or donate them? They might be OK for some Little Free Libraries too. Some people still listen to CDs in their cars. I watch Dana K White/A Slob Comes Clean (she has books and podcasts too but they all focus on the same simple no-mess strategies). She moved fairly recently, and had some good advice for how to pack for a move following her basic principles ( link 1, link 2). I like The Minimal Mom on YT for decluttering advice and thinking about things like regret. Cass from Clutterbug is fun for storage, organizing, and decorating and she also recently moved but she's also a bit all over the place and struggled through her move. Fun though. They all work together to run a course so they use each other's strategies and language a lot. Almost everything I say is something they've said

I know most of the time when someone on my BN posts a free old machine most people don't understand it's functions are limited and same with the carts. I plan on spelling it out when I'm ready to post.

If you saw a Cricut (unlinked) cartridge that you wanted for sale a garage sale/flea market, how much would you pay for it? I'm trying to figure out how to price them. I was thinking $10 and the last day of the flea market everything goes to 50% off so I don't want to price it too low.

All the YouTube Cricut cartridge hauls I watch nobody pays more than $8 for brand new cartridges. I order from Ebay I will pay $15 under but it must include the handbook, overlay & cartridge. I bought the Frozen cartridge a year back. One seller wanted $65 for the Frozen cartridge only, no extras. I bought it from a different seller for $13 brand new cartridge still sealed in package. Cartridges go for a song today. They aren't worth a lot. I bought 25 cartridges a couple of years back. I paid $100 for the cartridges, Pink Expression, tool kit, and extra mats. The mats were the new version- light grip, fabric, normal mats. The machine had never been used. The cartridges were all in the box with all the handbooks and overlays. Many of the cartridges were Creative Memories or Licensed.
I bought a Gypsy around the same time. I paid $9 for over 100 cartridges loaded on it including all the Creative Memories cartridges. The machine came with extras including the silicone cover, extra styluses and all the accessories.
