Hey guys!
I’m rounding out the employee prizes for our open house. I need ideas! Wanna help me shop?
I have about $500 left to play with. Big prizes are covered. Looking for medium ($50-80) and small ($20-50) prizes, preferably available on Amazon so I can have it dropped at the store (time is short and we’re swamped already.)
Employees are a diverse group. 17-77 (most are middle age and younger) all genders. Crafty/artistic types but they work in a craft store…so not art supplies. Lol. (I did out a storage cart with drawers on the list though.
Current prizes: Big- Tv Projector Laptop Kindle fire
Medium- Bluetooth headphones Power bank Junk Art board game Craft storage cart
Small- Giant fluffy throw blanket Bluetooth speaker (cute one) Tabletop s’mores maker Ice cream maker
Thoughts?

You can get a good air fryer for about $50. Those seem popular.

I have an aversion to accululmating more "stuff", so my choice would be cash or a gift card to a restaurant that is generally well liked by most people (the combo gift cards are usually good for covering all bases) or Target or Amazon. No coffee related gifts or gift cards.

Not sure if this would be applicable, how about preferred parking spot in the employee parking lot or an extra (paid) vacation day.

For general purpose things, how about a SodaStream machine, an electric fondue pot set, gift certificate to a local meat market that sells charcuterie stuff paired with a nice wooden board.
For more crafty related things, maybe photo backup storage device you can use with your phone or tablet, Tervis tumbler with a lid and straw, a book store or Amazon gift card, Arkon mount or Gorillapod phone holder for recording video or reels, ring light with a phone mount, collapsible/ portable light box for taking nice project photos. Another thing I bought that I’ve used way more than I ever thought was an inexpensive Munbyn thermal label printer with labels. I wish I would have bought mine much sooner than I did.

Gift cards.
Everyone's needs and wants are different....in regards to what is wanted or needed. If it has to be an actual tangible gift, please be sure to include the gift receipt so it can be returned or exchanged, if necessary......for something that is wanted or needed.
Not being rude, just honest >> It sucks to get stuck with a gift that one doesn't want or need. It ends up in the donate, give away, re-gift, toss pile. Again, not being rude, just honest >> the majority of things on your list, I don't need or want. and wouldn't keep.

A crisp $50 bill. (There is not much “stuff” I want at this point) I'm the same. I already have most of what I want and already have what I need. I don't want or need more random "stuff".

Just curious how you distribute prizes. My husband's work has a raffle at their open house. All the gifts are set out with a basket in front. Employees are given a set amount of tickets and they can put their ticket in whatever basket they choose. Then a winner is chosen. I think they get one ticket for the big prizes and then 4 for the other ones. It is nice because then people can choose what they want. I think your prizes sound nice.

I agree with restaurant gift cards or Movie/theater tickets.
Younger workers might like the things such as Kindles/laptops etc., but I have those things. I don't want more random "things" that I then must donate or re-gift.
The idea of cash is great. Since you have $$ items, then envelope with $$ cash. Everyone loves $$ to spend on whatever is their particular need.

I would say gift cards to restaurants or gas stations that are close to your work location. I know it’s not Amazon, but shouldn't be too hard to get them.

Local Zoo, museum or theater memberships/annual passes This is what I would like! I always hesitate to buy these for myself but would love them. Also: - Lodge cast iron Dutch oven - Lululemon Fanny pack - heated mug - a fancy bed pillow (like a Tuft and Needle foam pillow) - Pura diffuser

Do you live near any sports arenas where tickets could be a prize? I’m also thinking of experiences like museums, festivals, etc. Gift cards to restaurants or to big stores near you, like Target or Costco. Movie theater passes. In these times, gas/fuel cards might be good too.

I received a comfy at our work fall fling... loved it so much 1 bought 1 for everyone 1 year... lol...
So i say add that to your cheap list...
And I dont need more stuff... but I work for a company that is great about recognition and showing appreciation for the work we do....
Just last month we had a "quality challenge" each week.. and if you participated you got prizes... with the company logo but I got a tshirt, a huge umbrella, a generic photo frame, a small lunch box, and a canvas tote... then everyones name went into a drawing for a day off with pay...
Besides the tshirt... the rest is junk... it will probably get donated... but i can say thanks.... its a nice gesture... and Christmas gifts are fun...
You wont make everyone happy... but most employees like it... even if they dont like what they received....

I agree that that’s the best way to do it. That way people are only putting their tickets in the drawings for the items they actually like. One year I worked for a big office supply company and they had a Christmas party where they had a bunch of random prize drawings. They had enough prizes so everyone would win something, but by the time they drew my name (literally one of the very last ones) there was almost nothing left to pick from so they also gave me the choice of two things from the clearance products pile from the back room: a letter sized leather planner or a 120 count set of Prismacolor pencils. I snatched up that pencil set so fast because I knew how expensive it was!
