I want to send a gift of some meal kits. I've never tried any of them. What company is best? The only one I can think of is Hello Fresh. Are they the best?

I have been subscribing to Hello Fresh for a couple of years and I love it! The quality of the ingredients is really good and the variety of the recipes is excellent!
It does require cooking and some prep ...
Each recipe for two feeds my mum and I and gives a meal of leftovers for her!

I've been doing Blue Apron for a couple of years and recently tried Hello Fresh. I liked them both.
Here's what I liked about each: Hello Fresh -Love the packaging! -Recipes are very easy to prepare -Calories are listed on the recipes
Blue Apron -Recipes are more creative -Can choose a different protein -Prep/Cook time is included on the recipe cards
Overall I prefer the recipes from Blue Apron, but I wasn't disappointed in either. I'd recommend either one.

I tried 3 when we started a year or so ago - Hello Fresh, Blue Apron and Hungry Root. Hungry Root was rated one of the best for those with dietary restrictions and interested in healthy eating - my husband was hungry so that one ended fast. I liked the recipes better for Blue Apron vs Hello Fresh so that's the one we've used. We've been really happy.

I've only tried Hello Fresh so can't say which is the best meal company. My experience with Hello Fresh was pretty good for the most part.
The Pro's: The recipes were easy to follow The ingredients were fresh and good. The portion sizes for 2 people was ok, good for me because I eat small portions
The Con's: Not customizable hardly at all (It seemed that everything I wanted was paired with things I don't like and could not switch it out for another side or couldn't switch the protien to something else Portion size wasn't enough for my son really. He eats a normal man sized portions (not crazy big). There were no leftovers and he'd usually end up fixing something else.
I quit using them because of not being able to customize. I'm kind of picky with too many things I don't like.

I've tried so many companies and I really loved Marth Stewart's (Martha Stewart and Marley Spoon) and Hungryroot. The quality of the Martha Stewart meals was really good, lots of healthy options. I liked Hungryroot for the grocery options they offer. Both of these are a little expensive but the ease of having the groceries delivered and being able to select meals that we like (and I don't have to conjure up on my own) is sometimes worth it.

I've tried: Marley Spoon-loved it-high quality proteins and delicious meals. It was our favorite, but I had so many packaging issues and they offered basically nothing for ruined meals. 3 times I had leaky protein packs and the juice would be on the greens and herbs, etc. I was so disappointed I quit. Hello Fresh-good packaging, nice portions but rarely leftovers Blue Apron-don't remember much, but I must've switched for a reason

I really like Hello Fresh. The portions are perfect for DH and me. The recipes are easy to follow and the food is prepared like I would. Also, little-to-no food waste.

We liked Home Chef a lot more than Hello Fresh.
