My aqua and teal Big Shot handle is peeling. The other day I was cleaning it, and a large section of the handle lifted and peeled off. It was all faded, but now that it's peeled, it looks brand new. However, the rest of the handle now looks even more faded. The rubber cushion on my old ProvoCraft precision scissors is also starting to peel. I guess the rubber breaks down over time, like the coating on the Cricut cartridges. Has anyone else had this problem with their Big Shot handle?

Continues to peel each time I use it. Mine is stored in a controlled environment. No direct sun. No direct heat. Etc. I use a barely damp rag to clean it as I always have. Interesting thing is mine bubbled. Did yours do that? The rubber started to bubble and when I used it they popped and then everything began to peel. The texture bothers me too now.

It’s happened to me, too.

Maybe Sizzix can replace since the handles come off. I remember having to put the handle on my old pink Big Shot. It came with Allen wrench.

Mine is not peeling (I just checked) but maybe if Sizzix doesn't have a solution right away you could wrap it in Washi tape, or something so it doesn't feel so gross to touch.

I sent Sizzix a message via their website, and I received an automatic reply acknowledging the receipt of the message. I'll let you know when I get an actual reply from customer service.

Mine is gross, lots of peeling. The top handle is starting to peel a bit too, but not as badly as the crank handle.
(The silicone/rubber on my Sonicare toothbrush does the same thing. My husband jokes that I have such rough hands…)

I have the same issue with the crank handle. Will be interesting to see what their response is.

I’ll be interested in their response also. I have the all teal edition and the crank handle is a mess!
Fortunately, most of my die cutting is for cards, so I can use my Sidekick more.

I think it's worse if the crank handle is peeling. At least with mine I don't have to hold it for long - just long enough to move it a few feet. I think the crank handles are replaceable, though.

So the customer service rep. asked for pictures, which I sent Tuesday night. I'm waiting for him to get back to me to tell me what options I have. I'll keep you posted.

My handle isn't peeling. I have the pink BS that I bought 2012-14 ish. If they won't replace it (or offer you 10% off a new one), I wonder if you could wrap a handkerchief around the handle. Something thin and pretty. At least you wouldn't have to touch the peeling rubber. Another option could be something like the basket grips that Longaberger used to sell. Something like this that velcros into place.

You will probably have to reapply, but it helps. Our BMW in Belgium had a sticky spot on the inside handle to open the car door. I kept a little travel sized container of powder in the car because it creeped me out!

So here's their response.
Regrettably, we'll not be able to offer any repair or replacement options for your handle, it appears to have become worn through use.
Apologies that we can't offer more support.
I'm not happy. I didn't expect them to replace the whole machine, but I did expect them to offer some sort of repair or compensation. I didn't wear the handle out. I only use it to lift the machine off the shelf and put it on my table. The rubber has broken down and deteriorated. They shouldn't have used rubber in the first place.
They attached a short survey to their response, and I let them know how I felt about their lack of options for me.
Oh, well. I tried.

riversong1963 now I don't feel hopeful. I had DH look at the machine and he doesn't believe it can be changed out. When my first Revolution died and a die got stuck, the handle had internal screws we couldn't get to. So he basically had to saw and hammer it apart. And I agree, it should be made of the same hard plastic not rubber. If they known it can break down over time they shouldn't have used that.

Sizzix Ellison used to have good CS but when they changed ownership several years ago the CS went down hill.

I received a completely different response.
"As the product doesn't seem to be under warranty anymore, I am afraid we won't be able to pursue your warranty claim in your behalf, nor can we advise on any repair options or methods. Please note that, regrettably, we don’t currently stock replacement parts for the handle part in question. We also stopped offering repair services for them a while ago, I am afraid."

Well, that's disappointing. I guess it's "Too bad, so sad" for both of us, then. "I'm afraid" I won't be buying their products anymore with an attitude like that. Their customer service has really declined.
