I decorate on Thanksgiving night. I take down and put away decorations on Christmas night. It's been my tradition for years.

I have been tempted because after daylight savings time ends it gets dark an hour earlier and this has just been a year. But Thanksgiving is early this year, I am waiting until after Thanksgiving like I usually do,

Last weekend we hung up the outdoor lights because the weather was good, but we won't be turning them on until after Thanksgiving. Since DH is out of town the last week of November and we're traveling a good bit of December, I'm debating on whether to decorate early so we can enjoy it or really scale it back.

Don't have time to read before responding, so pardon me if I duplicate the thought. I believe YouTubers are doing it early to demonstrate ideas so you can order the supplies if you want to replicate. They run ahead of holidays the same way craft stores do.
To answer the question, DH starts putting up the outdoor lights the day after Thanksgiving; it takes him more than 1 day now, bless his heart. That's the start of our decorating.
I was irritated to see a Christmas commercial on TV before Halloween this year. Yeesh.

No. I keep fall up through Thanksgiving. I’ll maybe start that weekend. But most likely I’ll wait until at least Dec 1.

Day after thanksgiving is when I take all the fall thanksgiving decorations down and do Christmas although my hubby starts the outside the week of thanksgiving since it’s so massive. But it doesn’t get lit till after dinner.

While the weather is nice, we are going to put up the outdoor decorations this weekend. We are going to put up little things here and there, then put the tree up on Thanksgiving. Usually we would do it the next day, but we are having Thanksgiving brunch ending early, so I might as well get started.

Dd1 put up her tree last week. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I am always a before thanksgiving person- it’s just more festive to me. And I leave it up a long time- like New years or after. I just enjoy looking at it. I haven’t put anything up yet. I am considering it, though. I have multiple trees that take a long time so oart will be dividing how many trees I want to do this year.

NO! We do Thanksgiving before Christmas. There is plenty of time for Christmas after Thanksgiving. A whole month ofto celebrate Christmas. It really irritates me Thanksgiving is so meaningless to people these days. Everyone has something to be thankful for. Thanksgiving isn’t meaningless to me. Having a pumpkin sitting next to me versus a Christmas tree doesn’t in any way change how I feel.

Also, my fall decorations came out in late August, because that’s when fall weather starts at my house. I have snow on the ground now, so pumpkins and corn stalks would look out of place. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No I haven't started yet. We bought a new TV cabinet / home entertainment unit that is HUGE, and it gives me a mantle for the first time in my adult life - I am so excited! I never really decorate much for Christmas, but this year I am going to.

I haven't started but I have started making the 12 Days of Christmas ornament set by Larissa Holland. After years of eyeing the patterns I finally broke down and bought the whole set and all of the supplies. There are 15 total ornaments and I'm on my fourth one. I'm having so much fun completing an ornament and thinking about my holiday decor. This is the first year since I separated from exDH that I'm getting a tree.

I don’t even have our fall decorations out. Granted “fall” just started here, but we don’t have much just throw pillows, a tablescape and a couple odds and ends. Doesn’t look like it’s going to happen this year. So I may as well get started on our Christmas trees now!

I was late getting my fall decor up so I’m still really enjoying it. And fall is my favorite season. I also like Thanksgiving a lot.
I did just buy a new Christmas tree yesterday, so I will probably get it unboxed and the pieces at least plugged in once to make sure it all lights as it should.
Otherwise, I’ve traditionally started the day after Thanksgiving, but as I get older I’ve found I need to pace myself and not try to cram it all into one three-day weekend. I may start bringing some things up from the basement in bits and pieces starting before then, but we’ll see. So much doesn’t go according to plan because of not-yet-known factors.
I did drive by a fully decorated and lit up house the other day. I don’t know if they were just testing it all once done or if they are turning on the lights every day.

No but if my craft store FB groups are any indication, there are A LOT of people who are decorated November 1st. I had to snooze the groups because I was getting serious anxiety that I was behind. It explains why my Hobby Lobby is wiped out of ornament balls by Thanksgiving.
I just put up my fall stuff November 1st and won't put up the obvious Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving. I will put the less obvious things up over the next couple of weeks, mostly my greenery bases which are boxwood and lambs ear. Just won't put in the red berry accents or ribbon. Probably my white houses on top of the kitchen cabinets minus the trees. The staircase garland because that takes the most time besides the tree. Everything else will wait.

Nope.
The tree will go up some time after Thanksgiving, but before Christmas. I'm already tired of the thought of it (I do it for the family, who would be heartsick without it.)
I swear I wasn't always a Grinch! I don't know what's wrong with me. Maybe I'm just tired of the commercialization of all the holidays, and how each one runs into another, and there is no down time anymore that makes a holiday special. Maybe I am a Grinch now?

I’m so ready for summer to end by then it makes me so happy to decorate it’s always amused me the policing I’ve encountered on when I’m supposed to decorate for each holiday. People (well, most) wouldn’t dream of being snide about how I decorate my house for everyday, why would holidays be any different? If you feel you can’t be thankful around Thanksgiving without fall decorations, then that’s what you should do. Just don’t assume others are the same way

We have started putting up Christmas lights outside but they aren't done or on yet. I am so excited to get things out though. We used to be a big no way before Christmas but since Covid hit and I realized how happy the tree makes me I'm good having it out earlier now. Maybe next Saturday we will decorate the inside.

Well, I consider myself "normal" but clearly not "normal" in your book... I typically wait until Thanksgiving weekend, and then its a mad dash to get it all done and do some shopping to add to the decor, and then we're exhausted. So this year, I started last weekend, and doing bit by bit, and enjoying the process of decorating. We won't get our tree until 2nd weekend of December, but otherwise, I want to be done this next weekend, so I can just enjoy the season and do all the fun things, without thinking about still needing to decorate the house. Our town had their holiday-shop-hop last week (Thur-Sat) so that helped get me in the spirit of the season and start decorating. Again, it's my normal, which I'm happy with.

We bought a new tree yesterday and put the tree, the topper, and a small container of ornaments in it. After our daughter passed we went years with no decorations. This year I am having a partial mastectomy on December 1st. I will be home recovering for the month so I decided I wanted some joy in the house so we start early this year.
Won’t be decorating like I used to, but hopefully will look festive.

Our thanksgiving weekend is pretty busy this year so I might have to spread things out a little bit I did that with my Halloween/fall decor and used DS’s room (he is at college) to hold the bins between, which made it easier. This year I really want to go through the Christmas bins and pare things down a little so will probably use his room for that as well. I’m also a little worried about how our dog will be with the tree.

We usually set the tree up the night before Thanksgiving (artificial and needs to be "fluffed). We decorate the tree on Thanksgiving while watching the parade and after Black Friday shopping and a nap, we usually put up the indoor decorations (DD and I) while DH puts up the lights. This year, we are going to start this coming weekend instead as DD will be having her wisdom teeth out on Black Friday and I'm sure she won't be in the mood to do any decorating.

I haven't put anything up yet. It's still Fall for me, so I like the Fall wreath, and the easiness of November. November weekends seem calm and free to me always, so I let them be. I'll work on the tree & decor after Thanksgiving. I don't want to spend a ton of time and energy on it, so I limit myself to no more than a day of work to set it all out. It usually comes down the first week of January. Taking it all down is faster, so that's not usually too big of a deal.
My neighbors have had their tree(s) up for a couple weeks. Several people in the area have outdoor lights up, some have them on, some don't yet.
If you want your stuff up in July, go for it. I don't care when others do it.

I have snow on the ground now, so pumpkins and corn stalks would look out of place. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Exactly - my fall decorations went up September 1st like they do every year. Fall decor is up the longest in my house. Not putting our tree up until the day after Thanksgiving, but would have no issue with putting it up earlier. Have done so the years that we don't host.
