Anyone else staying in or going into the freezer over the holidays?
I need to. My scrap space overflows. I really want to save that money for my big trip next October (England and Scotland). I have so much stuff that's never been touched (dies and stamps and stencils - I'm looking at you). And truthfully between those, the Cricut cartridges, and cut files - I really should be able to create any embellishment I need...and tbh, it's not like I'm a heavy embellisher, lol.
So - other than refilling adhesive, trimmer blades, albums, and any absolutely necessary because I'm completely out cardstock colours...my goal is to see how long I can go without buying anything scrappy.
full disclosure - I have trimmer blades on order - they'll be here on Tuesday. Otherwise - November has been a no-spend month so far.

I am not ready to fully freeze just yet. But I am definitely contemplating going cold on some of my sb purchases. I have all but decided to cancel my SC subscription and most likely my AE subscription for this coming year.

I’m really trying not to buy anything until I complete my move. I’m downsizing to 1800 sq feet & don’t have enough space for what I want to bring to begin with. My scrappy & card making stash really needs to be cut back by anbout 30%. I’m also saving money for a big trip through some National Parks next September. Which will of course result in more scrappy purchases…

I'm in a freeze now, except for consumable items like adhesive and cardstock.

Not me! November is a terrible time for me to try to stop spending money. I am hoping for some fabulous Black Friday deals.

Who am I kidding?!? I've tried in years past and then spend more due to SPW.

Me. I just told my mom and sister just now before I saw this thread! No more craft supplies (or books or home decor) for at least 6 months, hopefully all of 2024.

I’m going to really try to stay frozen through the end of the year. There are no new releases that I’m interested in so it shouldn’t be that much of a challenge. I have lots of new purchases from the last few months to keep me busy on top of my stash. Saving for a trip is a great motivator to stay frozen. I hope that works out for you, Linda.

I just bought stuff so I’m finished for the year. That’s what I tell myself anyway. My freezer tends to have a revolving door.

Been on a scrappy freeze for the most part all of 2023 with the exception of one purchase from Heartfelt Creations. Well in one sense my entire purchase from Create Room could be considered a scrappy purchase . . . but with the down size and needing a new way to organize in a smaller space the Dream Box was the way to go.

I've been pretty careful about spending this year. I've splurged a couple of times, but mostly procrastinated and missed out on deals and/or realized the impulse has passed. But there are a few sales that get me this time of year, specifically TE's week of sales coming up. It's pretty much the only time of year that their Quad stencils are marked down so I might treat myself to one or two, but only if I'm really sure I'll use them. I'm going to look back at what I got last year and see if it was worth the money and space. I suspect not. I'm here to cheer on anyone who is more interested in using things up than buying more! Filter those emails so they skip your inbox or unsubscribe 🙈

I'm planning on it! Hoping to freeze until spring at least, debating on the new 49th & Market release though. I've even decided that I'm canceling my SC DK sub after December. While I like them, the stamps make me grouchy and I shouldn't have to pay full price for that. If I want the kits I'll wait for sales.

I started 2023 off strong and ended up weak - spending too much money. I have to freeze for 2024 because we're buying a business, moving, and saving for a trip to Japan in early 2025 to see our son graduate university. My problem is - shopping for scrappy supplies helps ease my stress and anxiety over all of these things going on in 2024 lol. I'll have to learn to meditate or something instead lol.
I plan to take advantage of some Black Friday sales and then I'm going in the freezer for 2024. Pray for me...oh, except for Crop and Create events, I will limit my spending to doing those.

I am in the freezer for the rest of 2023 except if Hip Kit Club has a Black Friday sale and the July kits are part of it. I REALLY want the July main scrapbook kit and I'm hoping it goes on sale for 30% off. I also want to pick up the embellishment kit, color kit, and extra paper.

I should freeze myself... DH works from home and gets alerts whenever a box is coming, and I'm tired of explaining it's scrapbook stuff and not the board game he's waiting on from Kickstarter whenever I go get something off the porch. I also just rearranged my scrapbook corner and I don't want to have to move anything to make room for new stuff

I need to become an ice block. I have certainly spent way more than I needed to this year. Between quilting, scrapbooking , card making and cross stitch I have enough to keep me busy for a lifetime. Gonna curb it down for rest of year and concentrate on goal planning to complete some projects.

I've been un-subscribing from e-mails and un-following on IG. The Black Friday sales are going to be tough to get through. But I plan to stay strong! I don't need anymore Christmas/Holiday or Valentine's Day stuff. If I can make it through to Dec 1st I should be good. (fingers crossed)

I was going to say no because I was going to shop the Black Friday Kelly purkey sale but now I can say yea since I just bought everything. I now need to be on a freeze for a bit. I also bought from studio calico and Heidi swapp this month. I think I will try to freeze the rest of the year. I have been limiting my spending for a while now and have actually put a dent in my supplies.

I’m lucky in that I normally don’t need to freeze. I typically only buy supplies as I need them during the year or ask for them as gifts. Then once every year or so I get hypomanic and go on a spending spree. But I rarely take classes virtual or otherwise, so several hundred dollars on a shopping spree every 1-3 years is perfectly reasonable! That’s what I tell myself to make myself feel better during my manic phases anyway.

I was in the freezer but I opened the door a crack to check out the Black Friday threads. And of course I fell out and bought a few things. I crawled back in last night and plan to stay here at least through January. That’s my birthday month.

I had a look at the sale that was most likely to get me to splurge and just didn’t get around to buying anything. Nothing really grabbed me, it all seemed like too much trouble, and I figured I could buy a lot of easy supplies (patterned paper) with the money I would’ve spent on Quad stencils. No regrets. Nothing else is on my radar, really. I have a long list at scrapbook dot com but their sales are so constant that I rarely get sucked into feeling like I need to make a decision. Being a terrible over-thinker and procrastinator is saving me a lot of money this year. I did buy some cardstock at Joann’s the other day but it was for a specific use, I cut right into half of it already, and it was discounted.

I just placed an order for more neenah white paper & now I'm done. It's gotten to the point that I need to sell things to not feel so overwhelmed with product. So far I've been able to withstand the temptation.

It's funny for me. I love the idea of a freeze and I could certainly use a good long freeze but I find myself so easily tempted. I have finally finished all my subs and don't plan on others. I think I will go with being chilly. I need to get my scrap room cleaned and functional again. Cleaning usually helps slow the impulse to buy. LOL!
