I thought I’d ask the Peas this question since I cannot find an answer to it anywhere. I just got the DX 85 since I only plan on using the SNC for fussy cutting patterned paper and stamped images. This was an Amazon deal and I really didn’t need the top of the line for my purposes. That darn screen is so small. Is it possible to use either a laptop or an iPad with the SNC to view the scanned images rather than squinting at the dinky screen? I have looked at a ton of videos but have not seen anyone using an iPad or laptop to scan or edit a scanned image. I’ll be so sad if my only option is the tiny screen. TIA!

I have a different Scan-N-Cut, but there is software that you can download for your machine if you want to connect it to your computer. I don’t know the cost, or if it’s free, but in the past, you had to use a dongle if you wanted to do anything but the basics. I had another cutter long ago that used a dongle, and I hated that it took up an additional port for the dongle. I also was tired of learning new software. So I didn’t buy their software, and I didn’t even download the free version. The need to purchase software and dongle may have changed, though, since I bought my machine. However, with my SNC (CM350), which also has a small screen, I have an option to zoom in to see the image on that small screen, so I know if I need to adjust settings or anything else. I assume with yours, you can also zoom in, even though you have a different machine. It looks like things may have changed since I bought my machine, so maybe I’ll finally download the software for my machine and play with it, although I have been quite happy with my machine not needing to be connected to the computer. Here is a link to the Brother site, where you can download software and manuals, and it has a trouble shooting section, too: Scan N Cut Support

HTH Thank you so very much for this feedback! I’ll explore their website a bit more. There were YTubers that shared info on both the Canvas Workspace and Artspira downloads for the machine. Each seemed to be more about designing and sending to the SNC. I totally agree with you on learning new software! Thanks again😁

I have an older SNC with a fairly small screen. As far as I know there isn’t a way to hook it up to a computer while you’re scanning and cutting things. You can design things in the canvas workspace and transfer them, but I don’t know if scanning something and saving it to view on the computer would work.
There should be a zoom function like mentioned above so you can see the scanned image and the cut lines but (at least on mine) there are only two levels - zoomed in or zoomed out. It’s still not always easy to see when it’s zoomed.

Maybe a magnifying glass? Amazon has some on stands or ones that attach to a table for around $30
