I am working on scrapbooking 2006-2010. I decided it would be fun to try to match it to the style that was popular at that time so that it would fit in with my other pages in that album. Do any of you do this? Or does it not matter to you? I even found some Basic Grey stuff on Mercari and added that to my stash. It’s been fun to use up random older pieces like buttons and ribbon. I never use that stuff anymore.

That’s a great idea since you still have items in your stash.

not necessarily - I mean I have and use plenty of older supplies some of which were bought with specific older photos in mind and I often use sketches from years ago. But I don't consciously try to make my layouts 'match' the time period. I've always scrapped out of order so my albums aren't exactly cohesive anyway - I like them that way.
But the last layout I scrapped was from Dec 2009 and I used a sketch from 2010 for it but while I used scraps and the last die cut from a pack - they were likely from within the past several years not vintage 2009.

No because I don’t like those supplies anymore. I typically just use what I enjoy.

never thought of this before…i have some albums, layouts and minis thst need to be completed. Most are in iris boxes with the supplies i was using at the time. i will probably use those older supplies along with my newer items. then they’ll be cohesive, but updated. i think that will give me the most satisfaction.

Sometimes. I had some photos from the 1970's that I tried to find daisies and peace signs to include in the layouts.

No, I match it to the supplies I own that I feel work with the photos the best, in whatever style I’m liking at the time I make the page. But my style hasn’t evolved to the single photo with tons of embellishments that is really popular right now, so even if I was scrapping current photos the style wouldn’t match-up. It’s always been very simple, linear, and photo-centric.
It’s a fun idea though, and something I will keep in mind for the future, thanks!
eta: I do have a lot of BG and MME so the products I use could match the time period of the photos, but again I would only use them if I felt they went well with the photos. I have no qualms about using those papers with current photos. Whatever I like at the time, whatever puts a smile on my face while I’m working!

I don’t strive to, but often find myself digging for old stuff when using old photos. My brain just immediately links the memory to that time frame. If I get a creative visual from that era it’s hard to get past, so I’ll just roll with it.

Generally, no. I do not have a scrapbook room anymore so a majority of my supplies are in a storage system of bins in the garage and it's a pain to find anything. Hopefully, I will have a studio again someday and I will be able to find my older supplies easily.

I use what I like and have regardless of the date of the items or photos.

No, I don't go out of my way to match style or supplies. I do try to use old stash still if I love it, but that goes for scrapping current photos too. It's all a hodgepodge!

Not usually, but I don’t always with new pics, either. I’m not a super themey scrapper, though.

Just depends on the photos and the supplies! I've been scrapping since 1997 and still have some paper and supplies from that long ago. Some things have not be reproduced. Several HOTP paper pads are truly classic, and then there are the Provo Craft Stacks. Since I've moved and unpack most of what moved these items have been through my hands recently.

No, I’ll match the mood of the supplies to the pictures but not the style. For example, my childhood pictures are from the 70s so I used cocoa vanilla daydreamer papers since the colors match well but I Have no personal scrapbook style to reference for making the pages.

No I don't ever do that. I prefer to match the papers to the photos, regardless of whether it is Basic Grey from 2006 or Echo Park from 2023.

How would anyone but a scrapbooker even know? I get wanting it to have the same feel as the other pages…but no. Of course my style has evolved but it’s always been more graphic and linear but it would be difficult for anyone not a scrapper to notice
