If you've followed my journey of the last few months you know that I have moved and downsized. I have six 14" x 17" x 7" plastic drawers with my "heritage wood mounted" stamps. Some I am going to sell, some I am going to trash or donate. But there are a few (signed by the artist) that I probably won't unmount. I also have two 4-sided stamps from Judikens (I believe). I am going to try and pare down to one or two drawers.
How has the process gone for those of you that did unmount your wood mounted stamps?

I feel like there were a couple of threads about this topic within the last year or so. I only had a few but being able to store them with my other stamps and use them in a stamping platform was a big plus. No regrets here.

I have unmounted all my stamps and put cling backs on them and store them in those empty jewel cases. I have 140 cases filled and I'm working on more, I have 25 cases left to fill.

I unmounted all of my rubber stamps prior to moving halfway across the country 7 years ago. I did them a little at a time, since I had a huge collection, but it was definitely worth doing, and I use them far more now.

Another deep winter project for when I have all the other boxes unpacked? the craft room is down to the "junk" that I need to sort, LOL. DH wasn't helpful and said just pack it, plus I ran out of time on the front end of the move.
We still have not sold our home in Oregon, and NOT all my craft room is here yet. Most of my unmounted stamps, stamps that have matching dies, etc are STILL in Oregon.

We have threads here that date all the way back to 2015 . . . Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest you shouldn't ask the question. I meant to link you to a recent discussion that I thought had quite a few responses, just in case you didn't get many answers over the holiday weekend. But of course you know how to search the boards yourself if you want to. Sorry, again, I shouldn't reply when I'm distracted.

I started stamping back when almost all wood mounted. If we bought the unmounted ones a lot of us mounted them ourselves. I started out sigh a shoebox full and pretty soon I bought wooden cabinets with drawers made for stamp storage. Once acrylic blocks came along I unmounted all the stamps. Storage was so much easier and took up way less space. I sold the drawers at a parking lot sale at a stamp store.

Now is just the time to do the others . . . when time allows. Still working on the finishing the part of the craft room that did get moved. Next are the books, but DH has to finish the new book shelves. Not interesting in unpacking and putting books away to have to go back and move them around to finish the project of making the shelves.
