Just saw that Jennifer McGuire posted a video about this. I haven't watched it yet but thought I'd make this post so we can discuss it. I'm excited because I have the WRMK Evolution Advanced (which has been off the market for a long time), which has a similar system where you can adjust the platform height/pressure. It's a really nice feature, so I'm glad that this machine will (hopefully) make die cutting easier for others. Will come back to comment once I watch the video!

I'm watching Gina K's livestream right now. It's a pretty cool machine - adjusting the platform looks so handy for 3D embossing folders. I didn't realize that the old WRMK machine could do this, I also like that it will work with the Spellbinders Glimmer system. I guess it will work with the Gemini Jr system too, considering the platform can be adjusted.

The new CTMH die cut machine does this as well.

Oh interesting, I didn't know CTMH had one, too. And here I was watching the livestream thinking it was all so groundbreaking lol. Good for her, though, it's a nice looking machine.

Okay, interesting! I just finished watching JM's video. I was pretty immediately struck by how similar it is to the Evolution Advanced, at least in a few features that Jennifer points out (trays that push in, feet that suction cup when they do, storage in trays, and removable handle - more on that later). The main difference is that the Intri-Cut has two adjustment knobs, where the Evolution has one. I think that is definitely a nice feature. The removable handle made me really curious, because the Evolution Advanced has that too, but with a twist. (It was kind of an under-the-radar machine, so in case you're not familiar with it, I thought I'd add more detail.) When you bought the Evolution Advanced, it was a normal hand crank machine, BUT the handle could be removed and there was a separate motor you could buy to use with it. Here's a link to that on Amazon if you want to see more, and a picture. I bought my Evolution in 2015, and at the time, the only other motorized die cut machine on the market was the Tim Holtz Vagabond. Lots of people loved the Vagabond, but there were also multiple complaints that the machine's motor burned out quickly or got stuck with a die in it and it couldn't be rescued. I didn't want to spend the $200ish for a machine that might die, so I loved that the motor was an optional add on for this machine, also meaning that it could be replaced if it died, without replacing the whole machine. Anyway, all that is to say that I wonder if the Intri-Cut might have a future enhancement to use with a motor. In my opinion, that's the best of both worlds, because I can use my machine as a hand crank if I don't want to make noise or if I don't have power, but for massive die cutting sessions, I can use the motor. It makes it a really versatile machine, so much so that I'm surprised other companies haven't adopted a similar add-on motor. As I said above, I also really love the adjustable platform/height on my machine because I can adjust for different embossing folders and even dies without worrying about tons of shims/sandwiches. I actually use the Sizzix magnetic platform and Sizzix cutting plates with mine because I didn't care for the original platform/cutting mat it came with. And I've used the Spellbinders hot foil system with no problems. So, it truly is customizable!

How interesting. I haven’t watched the video yet but it sounds like this might be a great option. I like the sound of the optional motor, if that turns out to be something they offer. I definitely see why it would be good to be able to convert between manual and motorized.

I remember watching on HSN or maybe QVC someone doing a demo with the Evolution. I liked the idea of being able to adjust the platform. No more complicated sandwiches. I already had a Sizzix so I didn’t buy. I wonder what company makes the machine for Gina K.

I saw that video, took one look at the handle mechanics and went "oh you have to be kidding me, who approved that!" Plastic gears are a terrible design choice for machinery, unless the purpose is to have it wear out and break in a few years...

Plastic gears are a terrible design choice for machinery, unless the purpose is to have it wear out and break in a few years... I noticed that too then when I read the description on her website I saw it only was a three month warranty. Makes you wonder if the manufacturer already knew plastic gears would be an issue. The concept is good, the execution not so much.

Oh wow, I hadn't seen that before and yes it's EXACTLY the same. And I hadn't realized it has plastic gears. I think (if I'm looking at the right part on the photo I shared), the Evolution Advantage has plastic gears too? Luckily I haven't had any issues with them and I've used the heck out of my machine, so maybe this one will be okay too? Metal would definitely be better though.

Can I ask, did you have the Evolution Advanced or just the Evolution? They've had several different iterations of Evolution machines: the original Evolution (no adjustable platform/motor/sides did not fold up), the Evolution Advanced (what I have), the Revolution machine (not called the Evolution but seriously close enough) and now they have the mini Evolution (no platform/motor). I'm just wondering if mine is a fluke or if you have a different model than I do.

I gave up and bought motor but dial issue was still an issue so gave up using it and went back to good old manual die cut machine.

For once I wasn't even tempted I already have two big shots AND a Platinum (wanted a cutter for dies larger than 6") and I've never found it that difficult to figure out the sandwich for whatever I'm working with.

I have to admit that even though I like having the handle option, I don't use it very often, but when I have, I've also had it pop out even when in "lock" position, but to be honest, I kind of thought that was my fault for using the motor so much, like it kind of loosened it or something? I guess not though. Good to know! I haven't had any dial issues but I'm sure it would be frustrating if I did.

I had the Evolution Advanced. I always had problems with the handle falling off and the adjustment dial never really worked as you might want. It was difficult to adjust too.
I don’t consider anything about Gina’s version that is new and advanced.

I currently have a Big Shot with one of those handles where the coating is peeling off, and it can be annoying to use at times and hard to get a clean cut. So, when I saw Gina's machine I admit to being excited by it. I had never seen any of the older versions of this machine. The price was a bit of a buzz kill!
Then I started reading the comments and read about the Bira on Amazon. I took a look and it gets great reviews. Even if there is a problem with the handle in the future I'd be much happier knowing I had bought it at $90 without shipping, rather than the current Gina price, plus shipping. Looks like I've got my Christmas present picked out and at that price I can get a couple of other gifts too!

I’ll stick with my old Sizzix Big Kick. That thing is solid, and built to last.

I guess not though. Good to know! I haven't had any dial issues but I'm sure it would be frustrating if I did. I doubt it's your fault, it looks like a bad design to me and I'm just a layperson. The gear teeth are too damn shallow - any significant wear and they're going to slip like crazy. It's really hard to say how durable it might be because "plastic" is about as precise as saying "solid" - there are tens of thousands of different plastic formulae if not more, but I rather doubt the craft companies sprang for the top quality high density stuff. LOOK at that gearing. Just look at it. All the torque and force is being transferred on those poor little nubbly bits! The "30$ value die set!" had me rolling my eyes, like 99% of crafters don't already own a Hello, basic flower or leaf. Is it nice for the brand-spanking newbie? Sure, but you can get something generic exactly like that for a couple bucks on AliEx or Temu or Amazon or eBay. It would have been a better sell just to call it a free bonus.

Someone had one out a few years ago that you would turn a knob for thickness adjustment. A couple of my friends had it. The issue became that no matter how much they turned the knob it was never tight enough to cut through anything.

I watched Gina's launch and Jennifer's video and there is a lot to like. I hate figuring out sandwiches for 3-d folders! But, I am skeptical about the low price point for all the "adjustability." It makes me wonder what the vulnerabilities are over time and about the durability of the machine. Gina said this machine was already being manufactured, this one just has the Gina K colors.
I have a Cuttlebug, a Platinum 6, and a Switch, so I don't need it. I am tempted, because it is so "cheap," but there is no point in getting rid of the working machines I already have. So it will be a no for me.
