A Tennessee Congressman warns that fellow Republicans in the House of Representatives have been lured into honeytraps with sex workers and drugs changing the way they vote, he said this week.

“If it's women, drugs, booze, it will find you in D.C. and in most elected offices,” Rep. Tim Burchett told podcaster Benny Johnson. “That’s what people, power and influence do.”

As Burchett tells it, Republicans aren’t backing important efforts, such as Rep. Marsha Blackburn’s crusade for Jeffrey Epstein’s flight logs, because they’re being bullied by big backers and Russians.

“The Russians do that and I'm sure members of Congress have been caught up,” Burchett declares. “Why in the world would good conservatives vote for crazy stuff like what we've been seeing?”

Burchett then explains what he’s learned over decades of experience of holding elected offices in Tennessee and in Washington: how it works.

“You're out of the country, or out of town, or you're in a motel or at a bar,” says Burchett, setting the scene.

“Whatever you're into — women, men, whatever — comes up and they're very attractive and they're laughing at your jokes, and you're buying them a drink.”

"Next thing you know, you're in the motel room, with them, naked,” says Burchett.

“Some well-dressed person comes up, whispers in your ear, 'Hey man, there's tapes out on you,’” Burchett explains. Then they say, “You really ought not to be voting for this thing.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has taken the side of his Democratic predecessor, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), over far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on a key issue, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on Friday.

Specifically, he is defending the right of the House to enact fines against those who defied mask mandates during the height of the COVID pandemic, as Greene goes to court to try to block them.

"When U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and two other Republicans decided to ask the Supreme Court to review the constitutionality of the fines they paid after refusing to wear masks on the House floor, they put the chamber’s new GOP leadership in a tough spot," reported Tia Mitchell. "And those leaders, including Speaker Mike Johnson, R-Louisiana, have chosen to defend the fines even as they say they don’t like the policy put into place by his predecessor. Then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat from California, implemented an escalating fine system for mask infractions while the House was in session to limit the spread of COVID-19."

"Attorneys for Johnson argue the constitutionality of the fines as part of their response to Greene and her co-defendants, Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Ralph Norman of South Carolina," said the report. "Earlier this month, the trio asked the Supreme Court to review their case after two lower courts upheld the fines."

In normal times, one of the lead stories of the Trump impeachment trial would be that one of the most psycho senators has become one of the loudest.

That would be Senator Rand Paul, formerly noted mostly as a fringy teabagger whose libertarian views were too conservative even for most Republicans. But now Paul is one of the boys, normalized enough that he took the lead in claiming that the impeachment trial was unconstitutional.

Donald Trump's chickens are coming home to roost with recent attempts to remove him from the ballot, GOP Senator Rand Paul said on Saturday.

Paul, who has been a staunch Trump defender after initially being critical, opened up about the former president in a holiday-inspired post. The post wasn't about Christmas or Hannukah, however; it was about Festivus, inspired by a Seinfeld storyline.

"It's that time of year again. Happy #Festivus! I've got a lot of problems with you people! And now, you're gonna hear about it," Paul said at the beginning of the long write-up. The post first delves into some things he's grateful for, including the booting of Kevin McCarthy from the House speakership.

"My main grievances are of course with Congress. But I want to start with someone nice and positive. So I wish my fondest farewell to former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who has been run out of town for being too much of a swampy establishment critter even for Congressional leadership," the senator wrote, adding his support for the new speaker, "MAGA" Mike Johnson.

"The Gang who voted to vacate the chair also has my Holiday Greetings. I’m sure I’ll be roasting the new speaker by next Christmas but he did something no one else has done in my time here — insisted foreign aid be PAID for, something I’ve always advocated for. So cheers to that."

However, Paul wasn't so kind to Sen. Josh Hawley, a fellow Republican.

"I wanted to make sure [Hawley] knows that he can’t ban [X] if he doesn’t like my tweets today, just in case he was getting any ideas," Paul said Saturday. "Did you see his many failed attempts to ban TikTok? I feel like he’s kinda like the people who try to hide their cigarettes from themselves. It’s not gonna work Senator, we all know you’re watching dance videos all day long. The CCP told us all about it, your secret is out."

After roasting some of the GOP presidential candidates, Paul turned to Trump himself.

"So when was anyone going to tell me that there was another member of the Cheney family? People complain about the fact that Nikki Haley doesn’t use the name given to her at birth, but I didn’t know she was trying to hide her full neocon pedigree all these years," he said. "Speaking of birth certificates, who is going to tell President Trump that trying to kick people off the ballot for spurious reasons sometimes comes back to bite you in the rear…"

The comments from Paul's followers were mixed, with some agreeing and others rushing to Trump's defense.

A former Republican congressional candidate was burned by a journalist on Monday after the GOPer complained that “Bidenomics” was the reason his 17-pound beef ribeye roast cost more than $313.

Jason Nelson, who calls himself “storm chaser,” posted the picture of his roast on social media Sunday. Nelson, who lost his run for congress in Texas, is described on his old campaign site as “a recently retired U.S. Army Soldier, and former United States Marine.”

“You and your ‘Bidenomics’ can suck it, you liars,” Nelson posted along with a photo of his meat. In the post, Nelson tagged 35th White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

One commenter responded with a simple message: “Let me get this straight, your complaint is that the President made steak too expensive and so no one should vote for him…because of the price of steak?"
