GOP temp down one senator for now. Republican Chuck Grassley, the oldest member of the US senate, has been admitted to hospital where he is being treated for an infection. *** He will miss Tuesday vote to advance a short-term spending bill which seeks to avoid a government shutdown. Before missing a vote in 2020 after testing for Covid-19, Mr Grassley boasted 27 years of *** "Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is receiving antibiotic infusions at an area hospital to treat an infection," his office said in a statement on Tuesday night. "He is in good spirits and will return to work as soon as possible following doctors' orders."The brief statement did not provide further details. www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-68002443

Just a paragraph from the article. “We are seeing significant early indicators that our increased scrutiny … is having immediate impact,” Werfel told reporters Thursday. He also noted the IRS is pressing ahead with new audits on corporations and deep-pocketed partnerships.

Interesting words from Speaker Johnson.. youtu.be/fGLjh-yfXe8?si=ejoG9C1aat-kHB0_"That's my belief, right?" Johnson added. "But I think that a nation makes a decision collectively because we're given the free will to do that. And I think we're going to make a much better choice as a country coming up in this election cycle." *** But WE can't make decisions for ourselves!!!!?

Immigration needs to be reformed yet again. But in the process there is absolutely no reason to treat the migrants as less than human and that is exactly what the Republicans are aiming for. Like this.

”Crockett: We also know that the gentle lady from Florida who happens to be the only member to give birth this session, specifically admitted that she actually wants a child separation policy. I can't think of something more ironic than that…

In 1986 when the current immigration reform act was signed we were told the problem was solved.
Problem is that neither side wanted to or did fully enforce it. So now we have a mess on our hands. And both sides are to blame.
Acyn…,
”Moskowitz: She brought up that Obama deported more people than Trump. Hold on a second. If the border wasn’t a problem until Biden was elected, then how were we deporting all of these people? This situation has been going on for decades so stop lying…”

scha-den-freu-de 2,083,000 registered voters in Iowa 718,000 registered republicans only 102,000 voted today 53,219 voted for Trump almost 2.5% Sleep well 💙 It was also bad weather and a polar vortex with - temps. And it’s not like there were actual valid choices offered to go out on negative temps - and you don’t just run in and vote since it a caucus so not sure how that works

They lie so much it’s a wonder they don’t get struck by bolts of lightning. ”Ramaswamy endorsing Trump: We are doing it by speaking the truth at every step of the way… We fight for the truth” Ever notice how people who generally speak the truth rarely have a need to point out that they are? Or to say "Believe me!" all the time?

But if these numbers are correct it wasn’t a big win. It was a win but not a big win. It should be put in that perspective.

Oh, you know exactly how they think they can tell. Don’t you need some kind of ID to fly? You do, but it doesn't have to be a US-issued ID. Though my understanding is that immigrants who have been put on planes are first processed and given some kind of documentation saying they can take this flight.

Better yet if we get rid of all Republicans we can save the taxpayers a boat load of money. I mean seriously they aren’t doing much to address the issues facing the American People and that includes immigration reform. So they are being paid for doing nothing. Well they do lie a lot. I don’t think they shoukd get paid for that.

Garcia came prepared to the Republican-led House Oversight committee hearing on President Joe Biden’s efforts to “undermine U.S. immigration law” with a visual: a poster of alligators on a moat. Not so funny if put in context that #Trump, despite all his insanity, is the leading #GOP candidate for president," wrote Orest. "Yes the same one that suggested injecting disinfectant to help fight COVID."

Is Speaker Johnson discussing National Security issues with an ordinary citizen with no security clearance? Military questions? Earlier some one explained that technically the President does not get security clearance, because he IS the president s/he has it. The President's 'security' clearance ends at noon on a new president's inauguration day. The NEW president can/may extend security clearance, if s/he chooses, to the out going president.

I’m saying this here because I don’t want to in any way make the Tom Cruise thread political.
There is no question Scientology is a cult, Having said that a strong argument could be made that the religious right is also a cult.
The difference between the two is one is busy getting members of their cult elected to public office so they can dictate/force their beliefs on the American People.
And far as I can determine the other cult isn’t. I’m not saying from the little bit that I read today they aren’t “spreading” their beliefs but it seems to be on a lot smaller scale and people still have a choice if they want to buy into what Scientology is selling or not.
While the other cult doesn’t want to give the non believers a choice if they can help it.

onelasttime my opinion, not necessarily fact, is that Scientology does not advertise who the individuals are or where, except assorted celebrities. Up until recently the christian 'cults' openly talk some stuff and seek out new members publicly. They meet in churches etc. Although today I'm not sure they welcome strangers as before, in essence more secretly.
