I have a GE Profile in black stainless. It is small because we live in a townhouse and had to get a counter depth one but I still love it. The stove has had numerous issues and the dishwasher is a POS but the fridge is wonderful!

We had a french door fridge and went and bought a side by side with a door-in-door feature (so 3 total). Absolutely love it. We've had it over a year now and having the door in door for beverages and condiments has been very handy!

It’s not that, it’s that we expect a lot more functions of our appliances these days - the feature list in the OP is a perfect example - and the more features, the more points of failure. The old appliances were much simpler and had far fewer things that could break, so they lasted longer. You’ll find that even with modern appliances, the simpler ones tend to last longer. But they don’t satisfy most modem customers. great point. i believe that too even if i'm probably in the minority that doesn't use or desire most of the new features found on new appliances. to my point, most of new appliances are computer driven. gone are days of strictly button and toggles. repair people love to say the motherboard is shot and there are no more updates or replacements. planned obsolescence. that's what happened with my washer. motherboard went out and the repair guy said it wasn't worth the time or money to replace it. time to get a new washer. same with my computer. no more IOS updating so i can't use some apps. time to get a new computer. I disagree that that's planned obsolescence. Repairing electronics is specialized and expensive, and so are the parts to do it, so often even if something can be repaired, it's not financially worth it. But those electronics are necessary in order to provide the features consumers demand. And electronics also just don't last forever, in any device. They are delicate and precise... and have to be in order to make them do what is needed and fit in the appliances/devices. That's not planned obsolescence, but limitations of our current technology.

Thank you everyone! We won't be renovating. In addition to inside, we have a full size freezer in the garage, a deep freeze in the basement, and tall fridge only in garage. Typing that all out seems crazy for a family of 3, but they have different uses. I've been wanting pellet ice, but don't really want to deal with machine for that. I was really hoping I'd have more options for ice to save my teeth. LOL Can you get the door dispenser that crushes ice? We have a GE French door, counter depth refrigerator freezer with in-door water and ice dispenser/crusher. I love it. Ice (cube and crushed) and water on the outside our my nonnegotiable items. I have to have options for smaller ice, and crushed ice looks like the best I'll find.
