I sometimes struggle to come up with a fresh idea for the Donna challenge, trying to balance the wish to keep her memory alive and to honour her drive to scrap her photos, as well as find something that will tweak the interest of other Peas. So it was wonderful to have scrappintoee share a memory of scrapping with Donna at a crop years ago. What did she remember? The laughter!
donna was a long time Pea who was taken from us long before her time. Her last scrapbooking effort had been to complete her kids' albums before time ran out. Many Peas, coordinated by jenjie and myboysnme , helped with that project. A Pea we have not heard from in a long while, kiwigirl , set up this challenge to keep DONNA's memory alive. So now we honour Donna's memory by getting our own photos into scrapbooks while WE have time to do that. Each month we set a challenge to get those photos glued onto pages. And we also have a theme Theme for this December DONNA challenge: Laugh out LOUD! If you have a photo of yourself or a loved one caught in the midst of a real belly laugh, now is the time to scrap that photo. No matter that you find the pic unflattering. What is important is the joy of recalling the fun. If you don't have an unscrapped photo of laughter, it's time to find someone to giggle with and then start snapping.
The next best way to meet this theme would be to scrap about something in your past that makes you recall the laughter and fun. Or scrap about a funny movie (or hey--all the Christmas movies that make us laugh year after year?) And have fun creating your page. This is a busy time. We don't got time for foolishness. But hey... when is a better time for foolishness than right now as a way to refresh our bodies and minds and souls? Don't just take it from me: read this article in Forbes magazine about the effect of laughter on productivity. This challenge is open to anyone, but if you are a member of a challenge team looking for points: ONE point for EACH photo you scrap in December, 2023, no matter the theme. TEN points for meeting the DECEMBER Donna theme on your project Have fun with this, and please share your take on this challenge in this thread. I have trouble selecting favourites, but I promise I will give this one a try. Hope to have it posted within the next week or so.

grammadee ....I LOVE your idea for this ! Hopefully, I will have the motivation to go through my photos and find the ones of LOL'ing with donna (and many other peas I met), and also create a layout, but not sure I have the motivation...yet. I also have a pic (somewhere ! ? ! ) of my best friend and I laughing sooo hard at a scrapbook party. The kind of laughter where you feel like you need an oxygen tank P.S. I still also want to do a layout for your November theme, too...mayyybe I'll go into my scrapbook room and get motivated...finally.

What a fun topic!
The last time I had a huge need-oxygen belly laugh was when I was on a girls weekend. One of my friends showed us the photo of her taken for her chef ID card, and OMG, you have never seen an uglier photo! It was so hideous, I nearly wet my pants from laughing at it/her. We all did, including the girl whose photo it was. Like, you couldn't even say "It's not that bad" because it really really was that bad! Unfortunately I don't think she'd let me have a copy of the photo to include on a scrapbook page - she's probably burnt it by now!

Found my photo. My fav pic of all time of my kids. Also my fav Christmas Eve pic I think. Taken 40 years ago. Like many moms I had trouble getting the kids to focus for a group shot. This was the year I discovered I could take a bunch of pic's (well, 3 or 4--I was using film ya know) and then say "We're done!" and quickly snap one more. Result, 4 giggly kids!
Have it printed. Have a sketch. Hope to be back here with a page withing a couple of days...

Better late than never, I guess. Decided to use this for the December calendar page for the next family calendar I put together (for 2025). Used the Dec 9th Sketchy Saturday sketch. 2025 December by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

And now I have an up to date pic of some gigglers. The older one was stoically trying to smile for a portrait in front of the tree but his brother was having none of it. The pic is blurry but I think it NEEDS to be on a page, don’t you?
