I didn't agree with a lot of her decisions or reasoning, but I 100% give her credit as a justice who genuinely was reasoning and judging, and I've heard good things about her as a boss from her clerks, who came from a variety of ideological backgrounds. I am sorry for her that she lost having a nice retirement with her husband (who IIRC had dementia even at the time of the 2000 election).

I'm so sorry to hear this. She was Chancellor of my alma mater, and I had the opportunity to meet her when she spoke to the Florida Legislature many years ago.

She was a trailblazer and a very admirable woman, even if I mostly didn’t agree with her politics. RIP, Sandra Day O’Connor. That's the difference between 'yesterday' and 'today'... You could disagree with someone and still respect the person, and talk about it.
