Hi everyone! Big hugs going out to jeremysgirl! Love the photo of Amelia you posted! How are you feeling today scrapmaven? I am just about to get myself ready to head over to my mum's with a few things we ordered from Amazon for her new place ... one is a surprise: a decorative "Merry Christmas" thing to hang on her door! Then I need to run a few errands ... Tonight (at 5 pm) I am attending the Christmas Dinner at the condo complex that my girlfriend lives in ... it was fun last year hanging out with all the seniors so I know we'll have a great time at 5:30 in the evening! So my dinner will be turkey and all that goes along with it! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... no lights on my patio at my condo complex ... I'm not handy enough! We do have huge evergreen trees on the property that are all strung with lights ... really beautiful! Do you decorate outside your home for the holidays? We always had lights up on my house ... of course that was when I had a husband to do that! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

We woke this morning to 30cm of snow! It is the most I have ever seen in all the years we’ve lived here. Pretty much everything was canceled - trains, buses, Christmas markets and football. The police basically told people to stay home unless they had an urgent need to go out and to avoid forested areas due to risk of falling snow. DH drove up to the supermarket early on to get enough supplies to see us through the weekend at least and this afternoon we walked back as I’d forgotten to get an Advent wreath and I also decided I could do my Christmas baking while we’re stuck inside. I have also canceled my First Communion class for tomorrow - many of my families live out of town, where the snow is even deeper and with no public transport running and roads being a mess, I thought it safer.
We usually decorate outside for Christmas, at least lights. In our old apartment we hung them from the balcony, but we don’t have that here, so we’ll have to think about how we are going to do it. We had planned to decorate today and set up our tree, but the fire brigade tree sale was canceled as they were too busy with snow related issues. There was also no way we were going to get anything done outside, with the depth of the snow, so it will have to be next week.
Dinner tonight is seafood risotto. One of DH’s work colleagues, who arrived yesterday from Mexico for a week, before moving here semi-permanently in January, is joining us for dinner. Poor girl, she must be wondering what she has let herself into.

We woke up to rain so we'll delay our walk until it gets drier. I'll be mostly working around the house today and will have football on in the background. DH used to put lights all around our former house which was 2 1/2 stories. Very precarious! Now lights go on the tree trunks, bushes, etc. Much safer for a 76-year-old! Our neighborhood goes crazy so it's a lot of fun to walk/drive down our street during the holidays. Dinner will be either tri-tip or spaghetti. I need to decide soon. scrapmaven , I hope you're home and comfy in your recliner. jeremysgirl supplied me with today's meme:

Dinner here is rechauffe mac and cheese and broccoli probably with ham steak.
I still haven’t decorated anything except for putting out the four Christmas gnomes in my bedroom.
I signed a contract for flooring yesterday and am really excited about my home improvement projects! I need to get estimates from the painters who have come out.

It’s cold and rainy here. sueg that’s a lot of snow. We really haven’t had any here which is unusual. I think dinner is going to be the ribs I bought at Costco. Starting to put my fall decorations away. I don’t really decorate a lot for holidays. Then tomorrow I will get some Christmas decorations out again not a lot. scrapmaven I hope they can figure out how to help you with the tube issue.

Happy Saturday! Met DD and DIL to shop for the kids we pick from church. The two oldest grandsons joined us. We had a lot of fun. DD had to run by the school she teaches at so one of the grandsons and I tagged along. We had never been in the school before so it was fun to see her classroom. She gave us a tour of the school. It holds 5th and 6th grades and has about 1200 students. Grandson was in awe as his entire K thru 5th grade school has about 500 students. Stay safe sueg. I like snow as long as I can stay inside by the fire and look at it from the window. We are going to a Christkindlmarkt this afternoon. It is still drizzling so I hope it clears up. Dinner will be food at the market.

Dreary here...although the rain has held off thus far, I hear tomorrow will be rainy. Dinner will be out...Have reservations at legal Seafood, I have a GC from last Christmas that wants to be used...so we shall. Just window candles for us this year...DH was complaining that my "inflatables" ruined his lawn last year so I am giving him a reprieve.
Love and Hugs jeremysgirl💕💕💕 Thinking of you, scrapmaven 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thank you ladies. christine58, I had a team of docs hovering and debating. It's a tough situation, but I'm a tough cookie. Today I'm in my recliner and a bit blitzed, but OK. It's part of the never ending process that is chronic and I'll be in better spirits in a day or two. sueg, This is hot cocoa and cozy time. Baking and knitting sound like a great plan for you. Stay warm and comfy. Enjoy today, everyone.

It is rainy here today but I am getting into the Christmas Spirit. There was a recipe for a french toast casserole on a thread that sounded so very good, so I went and made it. Resting in the fridge right now. It has torn bread, eggs, cream, orange zest, sugar and then raspberries in the middle and on top. I also added some wild blueberries that I picked this summer in Northern Ontario. www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/raspberry-baked-french-toast-4720583This is a 1st Sunday of Advent treat for my son & his family. I'm adding whipped cream, REAL Maple syrup, bacon, hot chocolate packages with marshmallows & Lindt Chocolate balls. I am also sending along some of my Christmas baking and as a special treat ~~ a family activity for them to do. It's a Lego Advent wreath to put together. You add a flame to the candle each Sunday of Advent. I also have a booklet of the readings for each Sunday of Advent. I'm spreading out the Christmas treats over the month of December and there will be fewer gifts on Christmas day. They don't need anything and I don't really know what to get the grandkids, so I'm spreading out during the month of December. I'm enclosing a card stating that this will be a bit of a different Christmas but I need to somehow cut out the expectations of *greatness* on Christmas Day. I'll be making them a hot meal one day a week plus a special treat for Sunday morning breakfasts. This spreads out the energy that I will use into reasonable *bites*. A new tradition will hopefully happen. Dinner will be the breakfast casserole that I made for me, just a small bit but enough for me to enjoy.

Went out and had breakfast with my mom and sister. I really missed being around my family all this time I lived in NY. I'm glad I made the right decision and moved back home.
After breakfast we went out shopping for toys so we could take to a Toys for Tots even next week. It was so much fun shopping for kids again.
For dinner we are having rice and beans.

DD just got on the road with puppies in tow. I wish I’d taken my phone outside with me to get a picture of the two of them poking their heads out the window to say goodbye. They’re belted in with dog seat belts? Whatever. It’s a new world.) 😆 Forgot to say yesterday, I’ve never had or heard of stickers during mammograms. And I’ve had a crap-ton of those things over the years. jeremysgirl and scrapmaven, thinking of you both today. sueg posted an amazing photo of their snow this AM in yesterday’s thread, late last night California time. Go find it if you’re interested. quiltz, your December plans sound lovely. oh, dinner. Spaghetti, I think. With mushrooms in the meat sauce. There’s been lots of eating out and rechauffe this week.

sueg the snow picture is lovely! We do put up some lights most years. And a few lighted reindeer and one golden retriever which our dog is curious about. I may start decorating today. I have to pack up fall first. I'm doing laundry and to do list items. Tonight we are just having salmon salad sandwiches on sourdough.

A very quiet day here today. DH and I spent hours trying to get a new wifi booster working in his garage. After multiple attempts, the screen we needed to move forward randomly popped up and we were able to easily connect the device. Not really sure what the issue was but glad it’s finally working. And I was totally impressed with DHs patience. Normally he gets so frustrated with stuff like that and just wants to throw in the towel.
Was excited that my nephew connected with us today and invited us for a Christmas gathering hosted by him and his wife. We’ve never done that before so very much looking forward to it.
Bought a new battery for my moms car and returned her car to her today. Hopefully it will get her through the winter. She’s 81 but not ready to quit driving yet. She can’t afford another car and we aren’t prepared to buy her another one. We’ve bought her a couple in the past and now that we are retired, our finances don’t allow us to buy another one.
Supper tonight was subs.

I bought 3 strands of outdoor lights on clearance last year (maybe?). It took 2 strands to do our deck and the 3rd is providinf replacement bulbs as every day it seems another one is burned out. On the plus side, the squirrels haven't chewed any lights off so far! sueg, ds was telling us about the snow in Munich and I immediately thought of you and wondered if your dh was trying to get home. Glad to know you are all tucked up safe and sound!

We have chili in the crock pot - I've been craving it and DS indulged me to make it while DH is still out of town. (DH doesn't eat chili.) I did a bunch of errands and laundry earlier and now I'm sitting down to do some crafting. One of the errands was to send a package out to DD1's family with some fun pre-Christmas things for my grandbaby. Glad to have that out in the mail. All their other Christmas things (for both DDs actually; they live close) will be shipped directly to them and we will have wrapping parties at each of their houses to wrap things for each other. We'll be there for about 5 days through Christmas so that plan seems simpler than trying to buy stuff and take it in luggage, or shop out there! Hope those that are feeling under the weather get better soon and those that are "feeling the weather" (LOL, thinking of you sueg) get a reprieve too! Off in search of yesterday's thread to see the snow pic!

bad storms here today - rain, thunder, lightning, and tornado warnings. Had a three hour phone call with my best friend this morning -we've set a monthly phone date to catch up. Then grocery shopping once the storms slowed down a bit. Started pulling out the Advent stuff here and packed away the Thanksgiving. Dinner was chili dogs per DH's request and I made a cranberry apple coleslaw as the side -so easy and so good. I ended up just having coleslaw - yum! DH didn't like it - too much ginger (it only had 3/4 tsp) and DD17 doesn't eat cabbage so I have plenty left for tomorrow. www.lemontreedwelling.com/apple-cranberry-coleslaw/?fbclid=IwAR36zbwEA1ICrIXiu10uXlRaaz8yWiCvLZymA7-MQzZuRQk3INszTy_l3mc - I used two apples since mine were small and less honey

They’re belted in with dog seat belts? Whatever. It’s a new world.) 😆 I bought a harness for my dog for the car, but I have no idea where it is. He hated it! One day I dropped DS off at school, so it must have been about four years ago, and my dog was in the front seat hanging out of the window. As I drove around the corner, the school gardener / maintenance guy yelled out at me "Put your dog in a harness!" or something like that. I was shamed, and never let him hang out the window past the school again. (The guy who yelled at me is the father of a girl my DD went to creche and school with. I took his kids to school every fricken day for several years, until they were old enough to walk themselves. Arsehole! He wouldn't have known it was me.)

sueg, ds was telling us about the snow in Munich and I immediately thought of you and wondered if your dh was trying to get home. Glad to know you are all tucked up safe and sound! You know, it wasn't until you mentioned it that I thought about DH being caught up in this, probably because he's been home all week and isn't travelling this coming week. I was also worried about a few work colleagues who were traveling here: One arrived late on Thursday from Mexico into this mess, and was stranded in her hotel room yesterday until another colleague rescued her and brough her to us for dinner. Another has been trying to get here from Sweden since Thursday night, and at last count had had 4 flights cancelled on her. She is now due to fly down tomorrow morning, so hopefully that happens. I think dh said there are another 5 from Gothenburg due to fly in today or early tomorrow for meetings, so we'll see how that goes. There has been no more snow overnight, so there is a chance the authorities and emergency services can get things cleared up today.

christine58 will your mom go to Florida for the winter? Yes. She flies out on January 2 and she’ll find out in the next couple of weeks when the car transport company will pick up her car. It really is so convenient. I’m going down for two weeks in January and then about 10 days in February and I think two weeks in March. Looking forward to seeing my great nephews and relaxing in the sun
