iamkristinl16, thank you. I'm sorry you are in so much pain! I wonder if a trigger point injection would help ease the pain?

iamkristinl16, thank you. I'm sorry you are in so much pain! I wonder if a trigger point injection would help ease the pain? I’m not sure. I had this same problem last year and they did traction and ultrasound. This pT doesn’t seem to want to do traction but depending on how tomorrow goes I might get another opinion. Stretches aren’t helping. I’m pretty sure it’s piroformis syndrome with sciatica but the question is what is the root cause/trigger.

Today was a happily needed rest day. I did take it easy. My weight is still 20 lbs heavy. I am getting serious in the new year.

shescrafty That is the BEST news! mich5481 I am sorry about your job. I think it sounds like you have a good plan as far as taking pics and reaching out to let people know that you are looking for a job. Also, that's great about the weight loss and NSV! I am about to go crazy I think. I am still in a lot of pain from my back/pelvis/sciatica/whatever it is. I am on the verge of tears several times a day due to the pain and also frustration that I can't get things done. It hurts no matter what I do, even sitting or laying down, but is worse when I walk or do too much. I went to the chiropractor twice last week and PT twice as well, with no improvement. I go to PT again tomorrow but am not hopeful. This PT seems to think I just need to strengthen my back and is not listening when I say I am in a lot of pain. When I went on Thursday they had me scheduled with a trainer who was going to have me do a workout! I told her I could barely walk, I wasn't getting on a bike. They eventually had me do some stretches and ultrasound. We will see what they say tomorrow. The house is a mess, I don't have the energy to meal prep or do much in the kitchen and clearly can't workout or walk the dog. The good news is that I started metformin earlier this week and haven't had any side effects. I’m so sorry, this is the worst. Having the mindset to be able to get something done but your body not able to do so. Did the stretches help at all? Are they having you do stretches for sciatica and piriformis? I find when I don’t do those, my pain is much worse. Even pain I don’t associate with sciatica. We think I have issues with my SI joint but MRI wasn’t conclusive because of my size at the time. I am glad the metformin isn’t giving you fits! eta: just saw your post on this page. Do you know the name of the stretches you are doing? #4 helps me the most. DH assists with it. If I only do one stretch, this is it. Another example of this is number 3 below, might have more detail for you. I also like a modified pigeon pose on the side of the bed with the leg supporting me on the floor instead of behind me on the bed. I’ll see if I can find examples of other stretches I do that help my lower back, my pain is all in the same area as yours so maybe they’ll help. #2 and #3. (#2 Knee to chest, also shown at link lower back rotational stretch)
#7Lower back rotational stretch. I lie on the side of the best and DH helps me with each of these. We do each one in the order below 3 times on each leg for 30 seconds each, make sure and relax the muscles in between the 30 second stretches. #2 #7 #4/#3 Lower back rotational stretch

I think I should mention DON'T FORGET YOUR PROTEIN AND COLLAGEN EVERYONE! My hair is falling out, finally. I bought some Rogaine. Every time I wash it I lose a big ball of hair. I thought I had escaped this unfortunate side effect of weight loss, but no. And I was not being diligent with my diet and supplements for the last couple months. Eek! I hope it doesn't become too noticeable 🫣

I got some biotin too! I survived hormone issues and previous weight loss without losing hair but I was definitely eating more (and working out routinely). This is like after I gave birth. Not cool, but not entirely unexpected I guess. Bad on me for not being more proactive.

I am hungry by 1 pm. I do love it.

I gave up for the week before Christmas.
I will start off Tuesday morning with yoga and I cannot wait.
My goal (which I will share again in the upcoming January thread) is to lose 10 lbs buly the end of February and 30 by the end of May. I think it is lofty, but I'm hoping having the goal will help.
Any inspiring books, articles, websites, podcasts you might recommend?

After a week of feeling under the weather so not exercising as much as usual, I finally felt good and I am back on track.
I let myself get scared last week, because “this time” (unfortunately I have always been a yo-yo dieter with big weight loss and slow weight gain and I’m a senior) it has been relatively easy once I got into the swing of things. I got scared because I had been having some gut issues and last week I had a weekly loss of 6 lbs. I am over 200 but not much, so to me that’s quite a bit for an old lady. Here is where I mention my mom passed of colon cancer at my age, though she was diagnosed a couple of years before. I do get regular c-scopies and got one last year, which was clear.
I’ll see Tuesday what this week’s result is, but the past couple of days I have at least been feeling good again.
Have a happy and nutritious-as-possible holiday, all.

Started the day with a 3.5 mile walk. Hoping to end it with some yoga. Will track my food today.

I went to the ER yesterday for an infected dog bite, and the notes said I am a "normal" weight, which cracked me up. I am still obese by BMI standards, but I have lost a bunch of weight, and my height helps me to look like I weigh less than I do.
I've lost weight this month, so it will be interesting to see where I end the month weight wise.

It's looking better as the swelling has gone down(thank you, antibiotics), but it still hurts and the redness is spreading a bit. Hoping I don't have to go back to the ER.

Walked about 12.5 miles this week.
Unfortunately, I've also eaten a bunch of crap calories.
Maybe they cancel each other out.

Hi well it was a rough month. I have lost 6 lbs and am back to walking 10,000 or more steps a day. I think I am pretty happy and while I have 28 lbs to go, I will feel better soon. I have very nice rewards for myself when I complete therapy, lose weight and more.

Well, I managed to lose 12 pounds this month, so the Wegovy is definitely working. I'm almost at 70 pounds lost since April, but according to Fitbit, I've lost nearly 73 pounds of body fat and gained a few pounds of lean mass. I'm finding clothes from when I was at this weight in 2019, and they are fitting well.
I'm going to start incorporating more movement next month. I don't have much loose skin (thank goodness!), but my upper arms are problem children.
